Their métier includes everything from small objects of utility to architectural projects. They have been collaborating with Vitra since , greatly enriching our collection of furniture for the office and the home. The "room within a room" is a concept Vitra has been working on for some time now with the designers Ronan and Erwan Bourellec. The idea of mobile, micro-ar- chitectural elements has initiated a number of different designs, the most remarkable of which is the Alcove Sofa. It was designed for the open-plan office, where it offers employees a comfortable, upholstered niche which protects them from the hectic goings on around them. This makes it the perfect place to retreat to for concentrated work or meetings in small groups. The members of the Alcove Sofa Family can be easily combined and create a versatile set of options for dividing open office landscapes without permanent fixtures. This makes it possible to set up entire central areas within open-plan offices — for meet & retreat — with a uniform aesthetic. Depending on the product, the back and side panels are 94 cm, 136 cm (Highback) and 187 cm (Xtra High) high. A sofa can become a room of its ownwithin a room. This is especially true ofthe Alcove Highback Sofa, whose sideand back panels tower over the heads ofthose sitting in it. Thanks to the acousticqualities of the Alcove Highback Sofaand its function as a visual screen, it crea-tes a truly peaceful oasis — especially inoffi ces or living areas. This eff ect is evenmore pronounced when two sofas arepositioned across from each other.
Now Vitra off ers two diff erent upholsteryoptions — lounge upholstery and workupholstery — with diff erent seat heights.= 485 mm (measured acc. to EN 1335-1= 325 mm), work upholstery = 480 mm(measured acc. to EN 1335-1 = 385 mm).Alcove Cabin Xtra High is now available.

Alcove Cabin Xtra High Three-Seater
The members of the Alcove Sofa Familytogether create a whole "room within aroom" concept. The already popular indivi-dual sofas now have a new sibling, Alcove Cabin. Alcove Cabin is a space for retreat with walls on all sides and an entrance,making it suitable for confi dential work and meetings in the centre of open, lively offi ce landscapes. It off ers visual and acoustic isolation for four to six people — especially the version with extra-high side walls.
On the inside, Alcove Cabin is a completeworkspace with two facing padded seatsand the option of integrating a table, aswell as electrifi cation and lighting. AlcoveCabin can be combined with the AlcoveSofas and Alcove Meet and is part of a ver-satile set of options for dividing open offi ce landscapes without permanent fi xtures.

Alcove System
A sofa can become a room of its ownwithin a room. This is especially true ofthe Alcove Highback Sofa System, whoseside and back panels tower over theheads of those sitting in it. Thanks to theoutstanding acoustic qualities of the sofasystem and its function as a visual screen,it creates a truly peaceful oasis — espe-cially in spacious areas (lobbies, lounges,halls, etc.). The system consists of threemodules: a corner element, a centralelement and a right and left side element.
