have an extended interview to get to know Jeff better.

It will give us insight into

our missionaries heart and open up an opportunity for

questions. So looking

forward to Jeff being

home for a

few days with us!

Prayer!

Tuesday morning and

Wednesday night prayer meetings will continue

throughout the summer. In preparation for the fall, we

want to spend time before the Lord in prayer. Also to

continue praying for those

not well amongst us. I love prayer because it is

our invitation to spend some great time with our

Heavenly Father! Come and be blessed today!

Faithful Giving! Summer is traditionally a slow

time for us to kick back, relax and enjoy a little down time.

Unfortunately, it is when it comes to giving too! Would

you consider how you would

continue supporting ALCC over the summer months. We pray

that all of us will do our part as God enables and blesses us!

Thanks so much!

Summer is HERE!

Wreckage! At some time in our lives, we

suffer what I call

‘Wreckage’.

We are going to explore

how the Isra-elites rebuilt

there lives

after suffer-ing a great deal of wreckage

in the time of exile. This is going to be a great series to

encourage us who may sense

that there is wreckage God wants to deal with. Come and

be blessed! ? Jeff Neely! On Sunday June 24th, Jeff

Neely from England will be

with us. We are planning to

WEEKLONG 2012 EDITION

The next two

months, you’ll be informed on our

Weeklong event as it has impacted many lives. We’d like for you to take

part by participating, by donating, by sponsoring, by praying, etc. We,

as a Church, have an opportunity to

be part of young people being changed.

Weeklong Origin I’ve always have known Weeklong

as an event at ALCC and actually

had an opportunity to attend two as a youth. Many years ago, when I

started planning my first Weeklong, I learned about the origin of Week-

long. It started with a lady named Jeannie Mayo and she mentored

another lady named Charlene Lee-

man who has them down pat. These two ladies, still to this day, have a

strong passion to see youth be changed by God. Charlene shared

Weeklong with Pastor Bill who has

adopted the event and led many on his own. Weeklong is an an-

cient event – you can tell because PB did it for years . . . and still

youth build the anticipation to escape from their distracting

world and be isolated to find who

they truly are in Christ. They do this by learning to fellowship with

one another; learn to literally walk with God, and to be inspired to

allow God to change their lives.

Weeklong 2012 This year, I decided to honour the

tradition of a lady who has a pas-sion for change. I’m excited and

glad to say that our very own Teletha Giffin is our Weeklong

2012 Speaker. She has partici-

pated in many Weeklongs as a youth, mentored to run one, and

now to speak into many lives. Youth share the fun and good

times of Weeklong. They will also share that they don’t want leave and/or want to go

back. Most suggest to do Weeklong a cou-

ple times a year! We all know it’s not realis-tic but we try to make it very special when

we do. This year will be special, I sense it already!

Your Help June 24 is the beginning of the collective

help to see Weeklong be a successful event.

Our Food Tree will be up which helps to cut cost of food to feed the youth. Anytime

now, we will be accepting donations for our Annual Garage Sale which is on July 14.

There are youth who are unable to pay the

full amount or even any, we accept Spon-sors to see youth in low income families be

part of Weeklong 2012. We also need prayer for direction and raising enough

funds to run smoothly. If you can and feel led to help, it is much appreciated. It is

awesome to see youth experience the

height and depth of God’s love. Brochures and permission forms will be re-

lease on Strawberry Social Sunday.

ROCK, RAIN & WINDS The Sermon on the Mount

(the Beatitudes) begins in

Matthew 5 with Jesus teach-ing His disciples how to live a life of

grace and glory, which comes from God alone. The basic

qualities of His Kingdom living are fulfilled in His

Church (us). He tells

us we are to be salt, light, to love our ene-

mies, how to pray, fast, where to put our treasures, not to judge and to be-

ware of false prophets. He ends chap-

ter 7 by teaching us about two founda-tions:

“Therefore, whosoever hears these say-ings of mine and does them, I will liken

him unto a wise man, which built his

house upon the rock: The rain descended and the floods

came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it

was founded upon the rock.

And everyone that hears these sayings

of mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish

man, which built his

house upon the sand. And the rain descended,

and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat

upon that house; and it fell, and great was the fall of

it.”

And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were

astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as One having author-

ity and not as the scribes. (Matt. 7:

24-29) On the basis of all that He taught and

illustrated, He concluded that if His listeners just hear this message alone

it will not change his life. He must both hear and do what Jesus has

said. The elements of the closing

illustration are drawn from the sim-plicity of nature itself, the rock, the

rain and the winds.

The man whose house collapsed was

at fault, not because he failed to la-

bor, but because he did not lay the proper foundation. The shifting

sand represents human opinion and

the doctrine of men as op-posed to His sayings. The

works done by the believer are not based on himself but

on the “Rock” who ulti-mately is Christ Himself.

(KJV Study Notes)

The outstanding feature of His teaching was His authority

and His straight-forward preaching based on the depth of His own life;

not like the scribes who taught the

Law of their traditions. Christ was His own authority.

An old hymn from the 1800’s states: “On Christ, the solid

Rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.”

I’m aston-

ished by His Word be-

cause it’s always His

Will and it’s

ALL for our benefit.

STEP TEN : PERSERVERANCE

We continue to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly ad-

mitted it.

“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful

that you don’t fall.” 1 Corinthians 10-12

Recovery is a lifelong process. There will be times when we grow weary and want to throw in the towel. We will ex-perience pain, fear, and a host of other emotions. We will win some battles but lose others in the war to achieve wholeness. We may get discouraged at times when we can’t see any progress, even though we have been working hard. But if we perse-vere through it all, we can maintain the ground we have gained. The apostle Paul used three illus-trations to teach about perseverance. He wrote to Timothy: “Endure suf-fering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. And as Christ’s

soldier, do not let yourself become tied up in the af-fairs of this life, for then you cannot satisfy the one who has enlisted you in his army. Follow the Lord’s rules for do-ing His work, just as an athlete either follows the rules or is dis-qualified and wins no prize. Hard working farm-ers are the first to enjoy the fruit of their labor. Think about what I am saying. The Lord will give you understanding in all these things” (2 Timothy 2:3-7). How many times do we look in the mirror each day? Suppose we looked

in the mirror and found that we had mustard smeared around our mouth.

Wouldn’t we immediately wash our face, wash and clean up the problem? In the same way, we need to routinely look at ourselves

in our “Spiritual mirror,” the Bible. Then if any-thing is wrong, we can take the proper steps to

fix it. James uses a similar illustration to show how

God’s Word should be

like a spiri-tual mir-ror in our life. He said, “And re-

member, it is a mes-

sage to obey, not just to listen to.

If you don’t obey, you are only fooling yourself. For if you just listen and don’t obey, it is like look-ing at your face in a mir-ror but doing nothing to improve your appear-ance. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you keep looking steadily into God’s per-fect law, the law that sets you free and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it” (James 1: 22-25). !!!Remember faith without works is dead.!!!

Wild At Heart by John Eldredge

In Wild at Heart, professional counselor John Eldredge digs deep into a problem he de-scribes as epidemic boredom among Christian men, and challenges all to begin to re-cover what he refers to as a "masculine heart." If there is one question that seems to be hanging on the lips of Christian women today it’s, “Where are all the real men?” John’s response is simply, “Why you’ve asked them to become women.” The cultural upheavals of the past thirty years have left many

men, and women, confused about who they are, and what they want from one an-other. John reveals some powerful insights into why so many men today feel unfulfilled, angry, frustrated, even depressed. It seems that today’s church hasn’t known what to do with dangerous men so; they’ve decided we need to be tamed, even emascu-lated, and in light of so much manhood gone awry in the past, our women have ac-cented. In the following quote from Wild At Heart, John Eldredge describes the result of what he calls "The Battle for a Man's Heart."

Christian men today have been trained to stifle what John calls a man’s three essential needs: to fight a battle, have an adventure, rescue a maiden, and to be just as wild and dangerous and the one whose image we bear. As I followed along I began to explore my own deeply rooted need to be a little wild at heart, and to wonder, what exactly is a real man? Isn’t a real man one who tells the truth even when it’s not popular, stands up against the crowd, defends the week and helpless, and takes leadership responsibility in his family. While Machismo is definitely out, real manhood waits desperately to be revived.

Teletha Giffin is a faithful member of ALCC since 2004. She is homemaker, works part

time a Christian book store and is raising two lively little boys with her husband Dustin. She is a avid reader, loves to paint, write, enjoys Italian cooking and hopes

to visit Italy one day...soon!

John Eldredge website:

http://ransomedheart.com/

“What do you see in the lives of the men that you work with, live by, go to church alongside? Are they full of passionate freedom? Do

they fight well? Are their women deeply grateful for how well their men have loved them? Are their children radiant with affirmation?

The idea is almost laughable, if it weren't so tragic. Men have been taken out right and left. Scattered across the neighborhood lie the shattered lives of men (and women) who have died at a soul level from the wounds they've taken. You've

heard the expression, "he's a shell of a man?" T hey have lost heart. Many more are alive, but badly wounded. They are trying to

crawl forward, but are having an awful time getting their lives together; they seem to keep taking hits. You know others who are already captives, languishing in pris-

ons of despair, addiction, idleness, or boredom. The place looks like a battlefield, the Omaha Beach of the soul.”
