Comparisons of her 1997 album artwork to her 2013 album artwork

Similarities• Both straight to the point.

• She chose to do this because she wants to show the audience exactly what she's providing them with and doesn’t want to over complicate it with.

• Both simple layout and design.• This is because she doesn’t want to show off

with some fancy artwork when its mainly about her music not the album artwork.

• Both have her name and the album title. • This shows how she is trying to not have too

much information on the front and wants it to be obvious and not complicated.

• Both show only the top of her. • This demonstrates that she cares more about

her music and the emotions she portrays than how she appears to other people.

Differences• The colour schemes are different and they give off different moods.

• This shows the different themes in each album because the songs are about different things and have different meanings so the colour schemes match the themes.

• In the 2013 one the title of the album is larger and is bolder and attracts the attention more.

• This shows that over time the country music industry has become more popular which then creates more competition so she needs her artwork to stand out more.

• She looks younger in the 2013 artwork as the fashion and makeup has developed and so she has the ability to look younger easier.

• This shows that over time her image has changed because she has adapted to keep up with the current looks and the use of the makeup and fashion makes her look younger and more appealing.

• She’s not looking at the camera in her 1997 artwork however she is in her newer one.

• She is looking into the camera in her 2013 artwork because this makes her look like she's trying to connect to the audience.

Idea 1

Our first attempt has a brighter, noticeable difference compared to our others. The colour of the text stands out against the black and white background and adds just enough colour to it with out it spoiling the main theme. In this picture she is looking at the camera and her face is in the centre, allowing her audience to connect with her. Her facial expression is mutual, to how the range of moods that will appear on the album (with a mix of sad and happy songs). The title of the album is larger than her name to show importance. As the audience can already see her face and recognise who she is, it is then important to show the title.

Idea 2

This was our second initial idea of how we wanted the album cover to look like. We decided that we should make the picture black and white, in order to make it appear moody, fitting in with the theme of the song. We have had the artist looking down to make her look unhappy, this gives the audience an idea of the theme of the album and what it is going to be about. We used a violet colour for the words as it stands out against the black and white background and it also links to her older album covers in which she uses light colours for the wording. We used a clear and bold font to make it stand out and to get straight to the point. Her face is in the centre of the cover so that it is easily recognisable.

This was the original picture.

Idea 3

In our last attempt, we had a closer picture of the artists face and she is looking at the camera. The fact that she faces the camera allows her to connect with her audience. Her face is taking up more space so that her audience can recognise it straight away, and the colour scheme also suits her style. We made the general colour of the picture darker instead of being black and white to make sure that the audience don’t get uninterested. The text is in bold and stands out better, it is clear and it is the first thing that catches the audiences eyes.

This was the original picture.

Primary research

We went and asked people which one they would prefer out of the 3 images we have created. We then took a tally of these results to help us decide our final design. This helps us to understand the audience and to get their input.

We asked a range of randomly selected people and showed them the three different ideas we had produced and asked them which worked most effectively. We recorded each persons decision and decided that which ever the majority chose we would use for out digipak.

How Do I Live Lyrics

How do I,Get through one night without you?

If I had to live without you,What kind of life would that be?

Oh, I...I need you in my arms, need you to hold,

You're my world, my heart, my soul,If you ever leave,

Baby you would take away everything good in my life,And tell me now

How do I live without you?I want to know,

How do I breathe without you?If you ever go,

How do I ever, ever survive? How do I, how do I, oh how do I live?

Without you,There'd be no sun in my sky,

There would be no love in my life,There'd be no world left for me.

And I,Baby I don't know what I would do,

I'd be lost if I lost you,If you ever leave,

Baby you would take away everything real in my life,And tell me now,

How do I live without you?I want to know,

How do I breathe without you?If you ever go,

How do I ever, ever survive? How do I, how do I, oh how do I live?

Please tell me baby,How do I go on?

If you ever leave,Baby you would take away everything,

I need you with me,Baby don't you know that you're everything,

Good in my life? And tell me now,

How do I live without you,I want to know,

How do I breathe without you?If you ever go,

How do I ever, ever survive? How do I, how do I, oh how do I live?

How do I live without you?How do I live without you baby?
