Making your own album cover

For the album covers task, I generated a random name for the artist, name of the album and artwork. With the random things selected, I took these and manipulated them to create an album cover. The name of the artist ‘Davy hill’ is obviously a solo artist. With the photo (which was before a photograph of a lake and some trees), I morphed and liquefied the image to create this marble effect. I then added a transparent colour overlay to make the photo more colourful. Overall, I went for an ‘indie’ style based on the marble effect. Overall the artwork is pretty simple and masculine due to the green/blue colour pallet and basic fonts. The album title ‘nothing has been going on’ is a shade of green to match the marble.

Again, with the randomly generated artist, album title and art work, I created a grunge, indie rock style album cover. The name ‘ September Stakes’ reflects a rock band maybe ad although the name of the album doesn’t quite match, I have tried to make it seem dark and weird by changing ‘great’ to a red colour. For the band name, I kept it quite simple but added a shadow effect to fit the genre. The shadow is dark like the rest of the photo and indicates that something is strange (as we often associate shadows with things lurking around and being mysterious). I changed the happy bright photo of the dragon fly into a totally opposite photo by using a black and white grained filter. The dragon fly looks as if it is waiting to attack something which makes the album seem a little scary but surprising.
