Grinding / dispersing
• don’t grind in the dispersion.
• add dispersion in the let-down phase.
PVC levels
• hard polymer phase of the particle acts like a filler / extender in your formulation
• limit the maximum PVC levels of ALBERDINGKR AC 2403 (≤25% PVC.)

Choice of pigments / extenders / functional anti-corrosive
• use talc or mica based (lamellar fillers) for best water barrier
• Bariumsulfate (e.g. Blanc fixe micro) will not compromise gloss levels.
• no additional benefit by using anticorrosive pigments like zinc phosphates
• anticorrosive pigments are labelled as “hazardous to the environment” (N)
• they may harm the stabilisation system of polymer dispersions
(due to e.g. Ca2+ , Zn2+, Ba2+ or Sr2+ Ions)
• Will decrease the gloss of the corresponding coating films.
• Anticorrosive pigments can be a handicap for cost efficient corrosion protection.

Pigment pastes
• For colours like black , the choice of dispersants is even more critical
• high amount of (hydrophilic) dispersants
• The following types are recommended for full colour black or tinting :
- Monolite black XBE-HD (Heubach pigments)
- Colanyl N 500 (Clariant)
- Colormatch 50-990-20966 (Plasticolor Inc.)
- UCD 1625 E (Plasticolor Inc.)
Coalescent types / levels
• 2-5% co-solvent on the total formulation
• Butylcellosolve and Texanol Liquid anti-corrosion additives
Liquid anti-corrosion additives
ASCONIUM® additives are able to improve the long term corrosion resistance since they improve
the adhesion property at the scribe.

Tropical wood contains rich water soluble tannin, and high content oil
Alberdingk® AC2403 showed:
• better immediate and long term non-discoloration of white top coat by efficientlytannin stain locking
• excellent long term intercoat adhesion, even on high oil contained substrate
with AC 2403 (FP 2403-10) VS. with standard acrylic

Beside of rich hydrophilic tannin stain inside, MDF is also easily get swelled up and grain rising on surface after applying with w/b paints.
Alberdingk® AC2403 showed:
• Best non-discolouration of white top coat.
• very good smooth surface after applying topcaot due to minimal grain rising
Substrate: MDF
Clear primers:
100g/m2×2layers by brush,
AC2782 white topcoat:
100g/m2×1layer by spray.
Dry condition: 70°C x 24h

3. stain locking primers /For the scab part of pine wood
Substrate: scab part of pine wood
primer lacquers:
100g/m2×2layers by spraying
AC2782 white topcoat:
100g/m2×1layer by spraying
Dry condition: 70°C×7days
Pine wood scab contains rich hydrophobic pine resin, what is easily to migrate out of the film, especially stocking at high temperature.
Stain locking results after 70°C x 7days:
All have got yellowing, and AC2403 ≈ AC2742 ≥ AC31 ≈ AC25222

Compare locking ability of 2K system based on AC2598,AC2742,AC31,AC2403 separately on pine wood scab
Stain locking results for these 2k clear primers after 70°C x 30 days:
AC2598 is the best, still no yellowing. Other three are: AC2403 ≥ AC2742 ≈ AC31
