Symphony PlusS+ Control & I/O Rack: BRC300/400/410,HPG800
Latest Firmware M_4
No SOE when using Harmony Block I/O (Must remain M_1 or older) L_9 recommended
Supports IOR810 using HN800 I/O bus
Ethernet port status updated from 10 seconds to 1 second for failover
Supports all S+ Dinrail I/O, Requires PBA800 to interface
Added redundancy link detection( SW4 pole 2)
0= detection disabled (default setting)
1= detection enabled
FPGA code updated to rev F
Recommended to be done on all controllers and NPM22
Hardware with controlway daughter board assemblies (XU15 populated) must be returned
Could be done online, one module at a time but not recommended
FPGA revision F provides stability improvements for modules that are installed at locations where excessive
electrical noiseis present. Excessive electrical noise may result in some BRC300/400/410 modules with prior revisions of
FPGA: to red light or exhibit other anomalies where memory corruption is suspected, such as incorrect block output values or
frozen block output values. In parallel with addressing any potential sources of electrical noise, it is also strongly encouraged
that all BRC300/400/410 and NPM22 modules be upgraded to FPGA revision F at the next opportunity to take advantage of
these enhancements.

H-Net was developed for Harmony
Block I/O and it was based on
“Futurebus” (not RS485) physical
layer. Futurebus driver components
are no longer readily available
RS485 has become the industry
standard for serial bus technology
HN800 was developed for SD Series
Products and is based on RS485
physical layer
As a result, electrical H-Net and
HN800 buses are not physically
compatible.
H-Net and HN800 can be connected
via Fiber Optic Links

S+ Engineering for Harmony
Audit trail
Audit Trail eventsOnline changes
S+ Engineering for Harmony
Explorer: document view
Document view will show all
the associated documents –
Control Logic Documents
(CLDs), P&IDs, Wiring
Diagrams, and hardware –
modules, field devices.
Simply double click on the
document to launch
appropriate application to
further view/edit the document
Critical documents are
available to the engineer
without leaving the engineering
environment
Saves time and reduces
complexity
S+ Engineering for HarmonyExplorer: data browser view
Data browser view will show all the tag data
associated with selected object
View, define and modify the tag data for the entire
system from this view. Changes are saved in S+
configuration server; so multiple entries not
required
Database filtering makes configuration faster by
eliminating unnecessary information from view
Call upon tag properties dialog window for easy
editing of individual tag, or
Import/export tag data, perform search-and-
replace operations
Easy navigation to open relevant control logic
document
S+ Engineering for HarmonyExplorer: run-time operations
Retrieve run-time status and diagnostic information from
system hardware
Online/offline, redundancy, module type, firmware revision, etc.
Controller status report for summary status and errors information
Controller problem-report to reveal individual error condition detail
Wizard style guided online configuration
Modify control logic in the running redundant controller without
interruption of the process
Step by step guidance to reduce chance of mistake
Can discard changes and roll back to original configuration
Support I/O channel forcing and simulation for easy in-house
check-out and site commissioning
Applicable to SD I/O and S800 I/O
S+ Engineering for Harmony
Automation Architect
Visual creation, editing, monitoring and tuning of control logic
Drag and drop function codes directly into the CLD
Easy navigation between sheets or documents connected by cross-references
Can add or assign tags directly on the drawing
Save control strategy as a macro that can be re-used
Makes for more intuitive engineering, saves time and reduces errors
Users can view and create signal
flow and control strategy in visual
form instead of lines of code
S+ Engineering for Harmony
Online mode of Automation Architect permits
monitoring and tuning of dynamic values on a CLD
In this mode, the function code block output values are
updated with live values from the controller
All the tunable parameters can be tuned in this mode
If tunable parameters are modified and the changes
are accepted, the changes are stored within the CLD
and are transmitted to the affected function blocks
within the controller
Monitoring and Tuning
S+ Engineering for Harmony
Control logic templates
Save your control logic documents as templates –
control logic templates (CLT)
Preserve the intellectual property in a control strategy
for repeatable use
Reduce the time and cost associated with implementing
your control strategy
Minimize the risk of errors and improve quality
Store in the object exchange (Library) and call up when
needed
Template linking – allows users to define logic that can
be modified on each instance of use; changes can be
spread to all linked instances of this template
S+ Engineering for Harmony
Libraries (object exchange)
Repository for all components,
devices, P&I diagrams, symbols,
function blocks, I/O configuration etc.
ABB standard library consists of pre-
defined function codes, standard
shapes/symbols, system hardware
CLTs.
Define your own objects – macro
logic, shapes and symbols and CLTs
and save them in a separate folder
Use standard copy-paste functionality
on user defined objects
Save time, reduce errors and share
best practice by sharing of objects
between different projects
S+ Engineering for Harmony
Bulk engineering
Simple and intuitive way of handling
bulk data
Seamless import of tag list for
configuration Manage the bulk data in the familiar
MS Excel environment and then
import into Symphony Plus
Engineering Server
Import history maintained with tag list
and logs for ready reference
Reduces the burden on your
engineers by easing the handling of
large amounts of data
Saves valuable time during startup
and commissioning
S+ Engineering for Harmony

platform (without additional tools/software) for
smart device configuration
Device Information
Intuitive Configuration
Diagnostic
S+ Engineering for Harmony
Modbus TCP communication interface
Built-in functionality of Harmony
Gateway Software (HGS)
Complete integration of Modbus TCP
data within the control application by

clients, 8 servers per controller
(capacity may vary by controller type)
S+ Engineering for Harmony
(UDF)and (BDM) Includes full feature text editor to create
and compile UDF programs using natural
syntax control statements.
UDFs can be downloaded to UDF-specific
function codes and incorporated into
control strategies just like any other
function code.

•The IPT800 loses its IP address when the power system is powered down
but the IPT800 remains plugged in to the module mounting unit (MMU) has
been resolved.
•IPT800 red lighting with LEDs 2 and 4 after running for a period of time

Symphony PlusS+ Control & I/O: HC800 Firmware A4 (1/2015)
HC800: Recommended upgrade
Function code 227 now supports device strings
PPER(Primary Peripheral Error) and BPER (Backup
Peripheral (Error) in support of the CI850 module via
function code 226
Backup HC800 now copies the loop/node/module address
from the Primary when a new backup is installed
HC800 Firmware A_4 correctly enforces the analog XR
significant change parameter for FC48 (AOLDB).
Ethernet Link Status update interval was reduced from 10
to 1 second for Modbus TCP communications
