In it you will find all theregistration materials, score sheets, and a list of Scout skills you will need to prepare your unit for our 2016District Camporee to be held at 4515 Fleet Isley Trail, Burlington NC, 27215.

A copy of this guide will be provided to each troop, and will be posted on the Old North State Council Website:http://www.bsaonsc.org . We recommend that it be maintained in a loose-leaf notebook and that you make copiesfor the other adult AND youth leaders in your unit.

General Rules

These rules are the general framework around which the 2016 Alamance District Fall Camporee will beoperated. The Scout Oath, Law, and Outdoor Code are the guides for all behavior at the Camporee.Competition is for all Scouts ages 11-17 using the Troop method. Youth 18 and older are encouraged toparticipate as event helpers. Webelos may participate in age appropriate events with their leader but willnot be scored.

Troops or individuals that do not conform to the rules will be asked to leave the Camporee.

1) A registration fee of $15.00 per person will be charged to cover the costs of the Camporeesupplies, patches, and prizes. You may pre-register and pay at the Council office or online atwww.bsaonsc.org or at your districts roundtable meeting. Fees must be paid before arrival at camp,please preplan for this event.

1) Troops should arrive and depart in Class A uniform. The uniform is required to be worn formorning and evening flag ceremonies, the Saturday night campfire and Sunday assembly.

2) Scouts should dress in a Class B uniform for Saturday activities in a manner that is appropriatefor the activity and weather. Clothing with non-scouting ideals is forbidden. Offenders will berequired to change.

3) The Camporee staff advisor will assign campsites. Each Troop is requested to use the minimumspace for its campsite. Sites will be balanced based on the number of reported people in attendance,by September 30th.

4) Troops should not plan to arrive at Camp before 6:00 p.m. Friday. Campsites will not beassigned prior to that time.

5) One vehicle pass will be provided for unloading and loading. When you check into the camporeea vehicle pass will be assigned to you. Troop trailers may be parked at campsite but all vehicles mustpark at the parking lot or designated parking areas.

6) A map of the Camporee grounds will be located at Headquarters check in.

7) Troops must plan to remove all garbage from their campsite area. Remember: A Scout is Clean.Pack it in-pack it out.

8) Safety and fire protection is the responsibility of everyone at the Camporee. Troops may buildfires in fire pits they dig themselves. Be very careful with fires, have fire buckets available, filledwith WATER ONLY. Refill fire pits before departure.

9) Taps will be at 11:00 pm each evening. Reveille will be at 7:00 am. Quiet hours are betweenthose times. Activities such as setting up camp, cooking, and Scouts playing will not be permittedduring quiet hours. Units should plan to arrive with enough time to set up campsites by Taps. Pointsmay be deducted from the campsite inspection score for failure to observe this rule.

10) Camporee patches will be guaranteed for all units who pre-register by September 30th. Unitswho are able to pre-register will receive patches but we cannot guarantee that they will arrive in timeby the camporee. In this case they will be made available at your next District Roundtable.

11) Patrol Leaders will, upon completion of each event, check with the judge for that event for hisTroop’s score.

12) Visitors (other than registered participants) are welcome to attend but must depart the premisesbefore Taps. Visitors to a campsite must also have the permission of the unit leader.

13) Any unsafe or improper use of knives, axes, or other tools will result in a lowering of thecampsite inspection score.

14) Sheath knives and fixed blades are prohibited.

15) No green wood (for campsite projects or other use) may be cut without permission from theCamporee Staff

16) All campfire skits, songs, etc., must conform to Scouting standards, and must be submitted to theCamporee staff in Headquarters for screening prior to 5:00 pm Saturday.

17) Any Webelos that wish to attend the District Camporee must be sponsored by a Troop. Webelosmust have their own two-deep leadership to stay overnight. They will camp with the sponsor troop.

18) All liquid fuel is prohibited. Only propane maybe used as per the “Guide to Safe Scouting.”

19) Units are not allowed in the Camp Warehouse area marked “Off Limits” on the map.

20) All Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters & youth OA members should be prepared to assistin judging one or more events.

21) There will NOT be a separate competition for all interested Webelos. Webelos may compete inthe Troop events. They are there to observe and learn. The Webelos are to be invited to satisfy therequirements for Arrow of Light and for marketing your Troop to prospective members and theirparents.

22) *Event patches and troop score sheet summaries will be distributed Sunday morning after Troopcleanup assignments have been completed.

23) All troops should plan on departing Camp Post by 10:00 am on Sunday.

25) Water – there is NO water available at the campsites. Troops need to bring enough water tolast the weekend.

Scoring and Ribbons

Ribbons or awards will be presented in the following categories:

Overall: Each Troop will receive an overall Camporee ribbon forparticipation. Three ribbons (First, Second and Third) will be awarded tothe Troops attaining the three highest scores.

Dutch Oven Cook-Off: Three ribbons (1st, 2nd, 3rd ) will be awarded theTroops Adult Leaders cooking the best. Taste, presentation and overallappearance will be considered. Leaders need to come prepared with allingredients & supplies i.e. charcoal, dutch ovens,cook gear, food etc.

Participation: Colored ribbons will be awarded based on levels ofparticipation, scored in its own way, i.e.: participating in ALL, SOME orFEW of the events

NOTE: It is important that presentation of the Dutch Oven Cook-off entrybe accompanied with the recipe, including all ingredients. (In case ofAllergies)

NOTE: Personal vehicles should be parked in the parking lot at all times. Points will be deducted from theTroop overall score if vehicles are parked in campsites or other areas of camp.

The Camporee will host events in First Aid, Map & Compass, Pioneering, Knot-tying, Fire Building, ProblemSolving, Canoe relay & a COPE Game. Awards will be given for the top Troops and the Scoutmasters ChiliCook-Off.

Tour Permits are required to attend, as per the BSA policy regarding camping for Boy Scout Troops. Tourpermits must be submitted at Check-in
