!PARCC Assessment Practice: Students need get comfortable with taking the online PARCC assessments, and they need to develop keyboarding skills. Please encourage and support student practice at home, or at the public library. I’ve included a copy of the PARCC reading response and writing rubric for your information. Students will not be allowed to use calculators on the PARCC math assessment. Please encourage students to practice basic facts, and math problem-solving over the school break.
To prevent the learning loss that often occurs during holidays, please encourage students to read daily. They have the opportunity to earn a Six Flags ticket if they read log up to 360 minutes of reading over the break. Reading related to research for the current inquiry unit counts toward the reading minutes. Students should gather required information for the remaining components of the inquiry unit project during the holidays.
