Dear Parents,

As we look back on recent news-letters it is incredible to think what has been achieved so far this term. Every curriculum area has gone from strength to strength and I would like to say a special Thank You to our sub-ject leadership teams and Heads of Departments for all of their hard work. Next week’s major focus is dra-ma. It is the the time when the school transforms into a thea-tre! Our Drama Workshop Week efforts will culminate in our very own production of ‘The Lion King.’ For those parents who are new to the school, many of our Year groups will be working together in collaboration, learn-ing parts, songs, making props and all of the other essential ingredients that form a success-ful show. We hope you can join us next Thursday to watch the experience unfold. A letter has been sent to give more details of the event and please speak to your child’s class teacher should you have any questions. We would also like to inform you that our wonderful PA, Mrs Nadine, will be leaving us at the end of the term. She has been instrumental in the es-tablishment of Al Mamoura and is one of the most professional colleagues I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We are

actively seeking a replacement of the highest quality to match the very high standards that she has set. I am sure you will join with us in making Nadine’s last week with us a truly memorable experience.

Moreover, Ms. Muna Abu Safi, our amazing Arabic leader has been promoted to Head of Ara-bic subject at The Pearl Acad-emy. She will be leaving us at the end of this term. It was a pleasure working with such a helpful, supportive and coop-erative member of the team. We will greatly miss her smile, positivity and commitment, and we wish her all the best in her new position.

Wishing you all a relaxing week-end.

Run, run as fast as you can you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man!! This week FS1 have had great fun joining in with our story of the week, ‘The Gingerbread Man’. Ask us to tell you the story at home. We know it very well! In Concoction Corner we had great fun making a gingerbread mixture out of water and flour. We had to get the consistency of the mixture just right to be able to make our gingerbread men. In the classroom we also made pretend biscuits using the play dough which smelt of ginger.

We have had so much fun mak-ing animal hats for the produc-tion. Lions, giraffes and ele-phants! Oh my! To top it all off we have been reading the story Dear Zoo and we got a message from Ben the Zoo Keeper to tell us all the animals had escaped. We had to sequence the story in the right order to help Ben work out which animals had got out.

It really tested our memories! We have had such a busy week and we cannot wait for you to see us sing in the whole school performance next week. Don’t forget to get your ticket!

Taj Ajjaoui in Year 3 Sandpi-pers has completed all 6 swim levels in H2O and has now made it into the H2O Develop-mental Swim Squad. Well earned Taj!

FOOTBALLThe Boys U11B Football Team rounded off their season at Brighton College on Monday night with a very challenging tournament. The boys endured 6 football matches against schools from all around Abu Dhabi. They were unfortunate in the group stages of the compe-tition against Brighton College, Repton and BISAD meaning they ended up in the Bowl play-offs. In the semi-final of the Bowl, Ahmad Bamadehaf (Year 5 Nareel) scored a superb free kick from distance to break the dead-lock against Cranleigh B. Mohamed AlMheiri (Year 5 Lulu) completed a fantastic passing move to win the game 2-0. The Final of the Bowl saw an all Aldar matchup – Al Mamoura vs Al Yasmina. Yasmina started strong and we were unable to recover resulting in a 2-0 victory for Yasmina. Unbelievably, even after the competition, the boys seemed to have more to give, challenging Amity to a friendly match. The B Team finished off their season with a 2-0 victory showing promise for the four Year 5 boys who were playing up an age group. We look forward to next season!

SPORTS NEWSNETBALLThe U11B Netball team played in their end of season tourna-ment at BISAD on Monday. The girls played well as a team and had some great games. We played our first game against Yasmina. During this game the girls made some great passes down court but just couldn’t get the ball in the net and unfortu-nately, lost 1-0. Our next game was against Cranleigh the girls defended really well and held the game at a 0-0 draw. After this we played against Brighton College. They were a really good side who won the tournament and we lost 4-0 against them. Our next game was against BSAK the girls lost 1-0. The final game was BISAD the girls made great interception during the game and this game finished a 0-0 draw. The girls finished 5th overall in their group. Well done to everyone that played in the tournament and all the girls who have worked hard all season.Team: Salma Kalidy, Emma Al Zaraina, Parthivi Ramanujam, Latifa Al Qubaisi, Avishi Bhatia, Mouza Al Mheiri, Suada Aliyeva, Mariam Al Ahbabi.

The U11A team played their end of season tournament on Mon-day at The British International School Abu Dhabi. The team have continued to develop and improve during the season, with each player finding their best individual position on court.

The girls faced a number of teams in the tournament that they hadn’t come across in the league. We went into the first game against Brighton College with both teams of a similar ability and from the first whis-tle the ball was going between the two scoring ends. The girls continued with a very strong defence switching the ball and holding space, making them-selves an option to pass to. How-ever, neither team were able to score a goal and at the final whistle, both teams remained on a 0-0 draw. The girls continued into their second game against BSAK playing a similar game to

the one they’d played against Brighton College and were una-ble to score past the very tough defence. Again resulting in a 0-0 draw. Going into our third and fourth game of the tournament the girls were faced with Cran-leigh and the leading team, The Pearl. The Al Mamoura girls de-fended really well and managed to get the ball into the shooting circle so many times but the ball was just not going through the net and the final score for both of these games was 0-2. Well done to all players in the under 11A team who have played this season, it has been a pleasure to have taken you and seen you develop as brilliant netball play-ers and have shown fantastic sportsmanship throughout the season. Good luck to the Year 6’s who leave us and attend new schools and hope you continue your passion for the sport as you move up to secondary and for the current Year 5’s let’s make next season the best yet.

Team Captain: Salama Al Nahy-an, Juliete stickells , Hind Al Ketbi, Malak El Asheri, Alya al Mehairbi, Zubia Sultan , Wadha Al Ameri

On Wednesday after school the U9 Girls Netball team played their first ever match in a tournament at Zayed Sports City. The girls were very excited about playing. They played against Brighton College, BISAD and Cranleigh in the group stages. The girls learnt a lot throughout the tournament and improved in every game. Their defending got better and Al Mamoura started sticking with their player, they were getting into more spaces and moving the ball up court and into their circle. After the group stages they faced Al Yasmina Academy in the play offs. This was a very exciting game which ended 0-0. I am very proud of how all the girls played throughout the tournament and am very excited to continue training the team ready for next season. Well done to all the girls that played.Team: Urvi Anand, Ghaya Al Muhairi, Shamsa Al Shamsi, Zeina Abushakra, Sara Al Hammadi, Aisha Al Mehairbi, Fatima Al Fahim, Aysha Khan, Fatima Al Mazrouei, Haya Al Mazrouei, Sarah Mgariaf

EASY AS PI?

Secondary girls, together with some Year 6 mathematicians celebrated International Pi Day on Wednesday.

The students started their day by memorising the digital expression of Pi. Year 9 student Janna Al Riyami proved to have the best memory, reciting Pi to an incredible 119 digits!

During their mathematics lessons, Year 7 and 8 girls used 3D printing software, utilising their geometry skills in measurements, unit conversion, and angles, to design keychains, pen holders, and even some Mother’s day presents for mums.

All students joined in a treasure hunt, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, whilst some designed pi digits artistically on paper plates in Miss Morgan’s art lessons. Well done girls for participating!
