AL-HIKMAH UNIVERSITY GRADUATES 876 STUDENTS THAT HER 8 CONVOCATION CEREMONY

ll roads lead to Al-Hikmah A st University on Saturday, 1December, 2018, where

876 students of the Islamic faith- based University graduated. Among the graduands, 20 were in

stthe 1 class categories. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Taofeek Ibrahim in his speech stated that the 14 year old University thrives on her motto, which is “learning for wisdom and morality”. He, however, lamented that the school needed funding for more hostels for the students, l i b ra ry expans ion , l ec tu re theatres, among others. The Pro-Chancellor and

the Chairman of the Council, Dr. M D. Abubakar, CFR, IGP (rtd.), while delivering his speech urged the Federal Government to include the private universities in TETFUND grant. T h e U n i v e r s i t y a l s o awarded Honorary Doctorate degrees to three prominent personalities: His Excellency, Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari- Honorary Doctorate Degree of Political Science, a former Minister of Transport, Alh. Yusuf Suleiman - Honorary Doctorate Degree of Political Science and Public Administration and the Chairman and Chief

Executive Officer, Max Air Limited, Alh. Dahiru Barau Mangal – Honorary Doctorate Degree of Business Administration. His Excellency, Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello M a s a r i , w h i l e d e l i v e r i n g acceptance speech on behalf of the awardees, thanked the University Management and promised to continue to serve as g rea t ambassadors to the institution. His Excellency also enjoined the students, especially the graduands to imbibe all these excellent and remarkable values that the University was built on.

The manager of the venture, Mr. Atagisoro Adulrazaq said the idea behind t h e b u s i n e s s i s bas ica l l y to ease movement of both students and staff and that the business is fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

The manager added that the car hire service is available 24 hours in a day. In his words, “all you need to d o i s d i a l t h e i r n u m b e r s ( 0 8 0 2 4 9 0 6 2 1 9 o r 090974406219) or strol l down to the s e c u r i t y p o s t a t International Hostel”.

The service is not limited to Ilorin Metropolis alone, it cuts across the whole country. Students and staff travelling during the hol idays don't n e e d t o b o t h e r themselves on where to get vehicles to their respective states.

“ G e t t i n g transportation just got better in Al- Hikmah, all you need is to place a call to them and tell them your location and they would be there any time of the day”, said the owner.

The American Association of Petroleum Geology (AAPG) has selected the

Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences of Al-Hikmah University, as one of the recipients of the AAPG Visiting

Geoscientists programme for 2018. P r e s e n t i n g t h e

t hp r o g r a m m e o n t h e 1 2 November, 2018, Mr. Victor Ogunmola of Exxonmobil U.S.A, who is a Senior Geologist in the

upstream industry, gave different lectures at the Al-Hikmah University Geology Laboratory. Participants at the lecture included Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Prof. S.S. D a d a , s t a f f o f t h e Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences, Department of Physical Sciences and the students of the Faculty.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Taofeek Ibrahim, whi le receiving the delegates expressed his gratitude on

b e h a l f o f t h e U n i v e r s i t y Community, assured the visiting lecturer of fruitful collaboration in every sector to enhance teaching, learning and research in Al-Hikmah University.

AL-HIKMAH GOING DIGITALhe Management of Al-THikmah University hosted the Earlyon Technologies

Limited represented by Mr. Babatude Iwarere and Mr. Olagunju Oladele on the 14th of November 2018, at the University Senate Chambers. The meeting was attended by the Vice- Chance l l o r, Depu t y V i ce - Chancellor, Registrar, Bursar, Deans, Directors, ICT Unit Officers and the In-House Identity Card Unit Officer.

On the importance of the

E- Identity Card, Mr. Oladele said

that the card would have multiple

functions, unlike the normal

identity cards that the institution

has been using. The new smart

card would be used to mark

attendance. It would also serve

as the contemporary identity

card.

According to him, the card

would also be used at the

entrance of the University to

identify the real students. The

porters at the hostel too would

use it to check-in and check-out

students in their respective

hostels.

He added the E- identity

Card would also be used during

examinations, as a card reader

that would be used for the

verification before a student

could gain access into the

examination hall.

Apart from the above,

parents would be able to monitor

their children, as text messages

would be sent to them weekly

disclosing how many times their

children were in school for the

week. This feature would help to

monitor the students properly as

it would prevent them from

skipping classes.

Reacting to questions and

suggestions from the University

Management the Company

assured the Management that all

their suggestions would be

considered.
