    EN 13135-2,

5.12.3.2 Typical methods of decreasing the probability of failure

The methods of decreasing the probability of failure of the hoist mechanism are typically:

    a) upgrade the level of quality control in some or all points of the process, e.g. enlarge

    the scope of non- destructive testing, mark parts for traceability of material;

    b) increase the inspections and maintenance during the crane use, e.g. upgrade the

criteria for replacing parts, define shorter inspection intervals, use a condition monitoring

    system and/or use a stress or load history counter;

    c) increase the working coefficient of components in the kinematic chain;

    d) duplicate components in the kinematic chain which prevent the load from being

dropped in the event of single failure in that component. These additional components

are part of kinematic chain during normal use.

    Guidance note:

Slack wire detection may be waived for e.g. systems operated locally for which a possible slack wire situation is easily detected visually by the operator. This further requires that the operator has a clear view of the person being lifted at all times.

    Lifting accessories Lfteredskap:

    18 November, 2012 Slide 53

The term lifting accessories also includes the load bearing equipment used to connect the drill pipes, tubulars or other loads to

the drilling machine or other lifting appliances. Requirements for

lifting accessories in the drilling area are given in Annex C, see

references given for groups D.6 and D.7

    From Annex D, D.1 General (Group D)

    NOTE

Typical lifting accessories in drilling operations: Elevators, lifting nipples,

lifting caps, lifting subs, pup joints for lifting, running tools used for lifting, lifting

    tools, handling tools, etc.

The drill string, pup joints, casings, risers and down hole equipment, however,

are regarded as parts of the load in drilling operations.

Equipment used for lifting solely within casings and risers in well centre, may

be considered as not being lifting accessories.

However, when such equipment is intended for handling loads outside of the

well centre it shall be regarded as lifting accessories and be rated for a

working load limit corresponding to the load experienced when used for lifting

    outside of the well.

    NOTE:

    Typiske lfteredskap I boreomrdet:

Elevators, lifting nipples, lifting caps, lifting subs, pup joints for lifting, running

tools used for lifting, lifting tools, handling tools, etc.

The drill string, pup joints, casings, risers and down hole equipment betraktes imidlertid som deler av lasten under boreoperasjoner.

    C.17.3.1 Design

SDLAs shall comply with the requirements given in the references

    in general requirements as applicable.

Although not mentioned in the scope of ISO 13535, the requirements

given in that standard apply to all types of SDLAs, unless stricter

requirements are given in the other references in general requirements.

All types of SDLAs shall be designed for one or more specified working

    load limit(s) (WLL).

NOTE The term Working Load Limit in this NORSOK standard is equivalent with the term Safe working load in ISO 13535.

    Konklusjon :

Krav i ISO 13535 (API 8C) gjelder for SDLAs Beregnet for en eller flere WLL

    C.17.3.1 Design (forts.)

If it is possible to use the SDLA for picking up tubulars or other loads

from a horizontal position, the workig load limit (WLL) for the SDLA

shall be specified for the most unfavourable direction.

Alternatively, different WLLs may be specified for horizontal and

    vertical positions.

For the purpose of calculating the WLL according to this NORSOK

standard, the design load according to ISO 13535 shall be divided by

    a dynamic coefficient of 1,33.

    Konklusjon:

WLL skal spesifiseres for den mest ugunstigste pick-up posisjon.

WLL = design load according to ISO 13535 divided by 1.33.

Definisjoner fra ISO 13535 (API 8C)

    3.1.2

    Design load

Sum of static and dynamic loads that would induce the maximum allowable

    stress in an item.

    3.1.9

    Load rating

Maximum operating load, both static and dynamic, to be applied to the equipment.

NOTE The load rating is numerically equivalent to the design load.

    3.1.17

    safe working load

The design load minus the dynamic load.

Begrunnelsen for faktor 1.33 er basert p DnV-Lifting Appliances som sier

Design load skal vre den strste av disse to:

0.75 x x SWL, and SWL For at disse skal bli like m dynamisk faktor vre = 1/0.75 = 1.33
