Denatious of Com- puter Science Department delivered a talk on Survey on Data Mining Tech- niques to Enhance Intrusion Detection at the seminar hall on February 4, 2012. Ms. Deepthy K. Denatious in her talk had briefed the proceedings of I.E.E.E. sponsored International Conference on Computer Communication and Informatics, She stated that the aim of the conference was to provide an opportunity for both academic and industrial communities to address new trends and challenges and emerging technologies on topics relevant to today’s fast moving areas of Computer, Communica- tion and Informatics. Mr. Paul Ansel V. of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department presented a paper titled Study of Lon Idealities in a Second Order Traditional Sigma Delta Modulators in an International Workshop on Computing and Control (IWECC) jointly conducted by Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, Ernakulam in collaboration with I.S.E.D. from 22 - 23 December, 2011. Mr. Paul Ansel V. of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department attended a Workshop on Software Techniques for Engineering Teachers, conducted by IIT Powai, from 5 November - 5 December, 2011 at St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and Technology, Palai. AISAT Newsletter Albertian Institute of Science and Technology (AISAT) is an undertaking of Archdiocese of Verapoly, which has a track record of centuries serving in the field of education. The foundation stone for the same was laid on July 22, 2010 by His Grace Dr. Francis Kallarakal, Metropolitan Archbishop of Verapoly, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Joseph Karikkassery, the then Auxiliary Bishop and Vicar General of Archdiocese of Verapoly. A number of prominent personalities from different walks of life were also present. By God's grace the first phase was completed within one year and the blessing ceremony took place on August 31, 2011. Editor’s Desk: It is indeed our great pleasure to present the first edition of the newsletter titled “AISAT Newsletter”. The quarterly Newsletter would cover all the major events occurring in the college. - Mr. Arackal Jos Mathew (Asst. Professor - ME Dept.) - Ms. Deepthy K. Denatious (Asst. Professor - CS Dept.) - Ms. Priya Xavier (Asst. Professor - EEE Dept.) I am so happy to learn that AISAT launches a quarterly Newsletter. Communication and connectivity are of paramount importance in today's fast changing world. The regular release of Newsletter will surely keep all the well-wishers and associates of the College of the various events taking place here, boost the performers, and foster the relationships. Christmas was celebrated in AISAT on Dec. 2011 at

the seminar hall. The program began with a prayer song

by Master Eby Benny. The welcome speech was

rendered by Prof. K. P. Mukundankutty, Rev. Dr. Clement

Valluvassery, Manager AISAT gave a deep insight

regarding the importance of Christmas. The Director of

AISAT, Dr. Babu T. Jose also addressed the students and

the staff.

The educational endeavours of Archdiocese of Verapoly

experienced a revamping in the recent past with the activities

of Navadarsan Educational Council. It coordinates the

educational apostolate of the Archdiocese of Verapoly with

the mission to impart value based education, proficient training

and guidance in career growth to the younger generation with

emphasis on moulding their personality to create confident,

competent, morally and socially mature individuals.

The initiative of starting an Engineering College with the state

of the art facilities was pioneered by the former Archbishop of

Verapoly Dr. Daniel Acharuparambil.

Today under the benevolent patronage of the Most Rev. Dr.

Francis Kallarakal, Metropolitan Archbishop of Verapoly, the

College is marching ahead to higher echelons.

Albertian Institute of Science and Technology (AISAT)

was blessed by His Grace Dr. Francis Kallarackal, the

Metropolitan Archbishop of Verapoly, on August 31, 2011.

Eminent personalities from different walks of life joined in

the blessing ceremony. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Dr. Alex

Vadakumthala, the Vicar General, welcomed the gathering.

Rev. Fr. Alex Kurishuparambil, the Associate Manager, read

out the Gospel. Prof. Dr. Babu T. Jose, the Director AISAT,

was introduced and welcomed to Albertian Family during the

meeting that followed the blessing ceremony. Rev. Dr.

Clement Valluvassery, the Manager, proposed the vote

of thanks.

A Faculty Development Programme titled 'AISAT KAIZEN

2011' was conducted at AISAT from October 8 to 11, 2011.

Mr. P. R. Chandra Mohan, (Vice President V - Guard) was the

resource person on the first day. He spoke of the new

leadership concept and brought home innovative ideas on

effective teaching through role plays, games, interactions etc.

Prof. Dr. Varghese Paul (Dean, CS/IT-Research, CUSAT),

Vicar General Msgr. Dr. Alex Vadakumthala, Prof. Dr. Babu

T. Jose, Prof. K. P. Mukundankutty, Prof. M. R. Joseph etc. led

the deliberations and discussions on the following days.

"Kaizen" is a Japanese expression, which can be translated as

"constant and never-ending improvement". "Whatever may

be your expertise and exposure, there is always room for

improvement and development", said Rev. Dr. Clement

Valluvassery in his inaugural address. He quoted Karl

Rahner's definition on human being as 'Spirit in the World'

and added that the possibilities of human beings are boundless

and even the sky is not the limit.

AISAT is conducting a Preparatory Course from Dec. 7, 2011

to March 30, 2012. The course intends to familiarize the

students on the basic concepts required for the first year

B. Tech course and gives an orientation to Engineering Study.

It also aims at familiarizing the students with the basics of

Computer Science, Communicative English and Soft Skill

Training, apart from the training for entrance test.
