OPERATION:Normal position - Start air from the bottle enters at T. The Valve spindle is forced to the left by spring 7,thereby sealing off the starting air from the Distributor valve at G. At the same time it lifts the valve plug 6to enter the upper space of the release valve, and enters the solenoid valve thru passage X. The solenoidvalve is de-energised. The plunger is forced by its spring against nozzle P preventing the air from enteringthe other side of the valve.Auto Start- The solenoid valve 5 is energised. The plunger moves to the right opening nozzle P and sealing

nozzle Q. Air passes thru nozzle P, and thru passage Y to act on piston L pushing the valve spindle to theright. Starting air now enters the distributor thru port G past the open valve N. Start is acheived.Venting - After a few seconds the solenoid valve 5 is de-energised. The spring returns the plunger to seal ofnozzle P. The space L is vented via passageY and nozzle Q. The spring 2 returns the valve spindle therebyshutting off the air supply at N and venting the air from G thru the open valve M and out thru C.Manual Start- Air is supplied to the solenoid valve thru nozzle Q. Air passes thru a groove in the plungerand enters passage Y to start the engine.

    TROUBLE SHOOTING

    TROUBLE CAUSE REMEDY

    Air leaks from C duringstart

    * Valve seat M not sealing* O-ring 3 on valve plug leaking

    *Replace valve M*Replace O ring

    Air leaks from C whilerunning

    * Valve seat N not sealing* O-ring 3 on valve plug leaking

    *Replace Valve N*Replace O ring

Engine does not start * Solenoid v/v not energised.* O-ring 1 blocking orifice X or Y due towrong size, wrong position, or excessivecompression.*Insufficient air pressure

*Check plug, or coil.*Replace with correct size O ringsAdjust position and tighten enoughto avoid blocking passages.

Engine turns wrongdirection, or turns fwd,

    then back.

*Distributor valve slipped into wrongposition. Wrong cyl supplied with air.

*Adjust timing. See fig. I-KR 6

    Air Leaks from H (referdrwg L 420/95)

    *Worn or mistimed distributor valve.

*Coupling, cross disc or shaft failure.

*Check & adjust timing ofdistributor valve*Check and replace defectivecomponent.
