    THE COURSE

    The Foundation Coursein Circus arts is for those individuals who would like to gain a solid and

    rounded foundation in aerial and acrobatic core disciplines. Importance is given to gaining strength,

    increasing exibility and preventing injury. The course has been designed to help students develop

    into professional artists within a safe and structured group environment.

    The timetable runs for ! weeks, "onday # $riday, %.&'am # (.''pm, with a week half#term break.

    )ach day students will be taught up to * physical, creative and complementary classes+

    Aerial Core # tatic Trape-e, oop, /ope, ilks and $lying Trape-e

    Acrobatic Core Tumbling, Trampet, 0crobalance, Chinese 1ole and andstands

    Equilibristics # 2uggling, ula oop, 3nicycle and 4iablo

    Specialist Skills # Tightwire, 4ance Trape-e, arness and tilts

    Performance # Improvisation, )nsemble, 1hysical Theatre and 0ct CreationTechnical Skills # /igging and afety

    Complimentary Skills 4ance, Conditioning, $lexibility, )xtension, Injury 1revention and 2ournals

    5e are looking for disciplined and creative individuals with a passion for learning. It is not necessary

    to have prior knowledge of aerial or acrobatic skills, however you 5I66 need to be 7t. 8ou will be

    re9uired to audition in theatre, dance, acrobatic or circus related skills so some prior experience is

    advised. 0uditions can be purely skill based rather than :performed; if preferred.

    DATES AND FEES

    The Foundation Course runs three times per

    year:

    September to December

    anuary to April

    !ay to Au"ust

    # Classes run as usual on bank holidays during

    the course.

    )ntry to the course is by 034ITI=> =>68.

    0uditions are $/)).

    The audition will involve a tour of the space and

    an introduction with one of the 0irCraft Circus

    team. 5e will assess applicants? strength and

    exibility through a series of exercises andgames. This will allow us to judge your suitability

    for the course and for you to gain a taste of what

    will be involved.

    8ou will be re9uired to perform an informal two

    minute demo of your chosen skill. This could be

    aerial or ground#based in the medium of circus,

    dance, theatre or gymnastics.

    This is followed by a private interview with the

    course director. This is your chance to discuss

    any 9ueries, concerns or ambitions you may have.

    Defore life in the Circus, 6ucy spent numerous hours

    either upside down, cartwheeling or leapfrogging

    )@)/85)/). 0ged years old, 6ucyEs passion of

    gymnastics grew to obsession. Transferring over to

    ports 0crobatics so she could specialise in Tumbling and

    group 0crobatics, she soon became a member of the

    >ational s9uad and was >ational competitor for many

    years. 0ged F, in order to continue her training she

    speci7cally moved to 6eeds "etropolitan 3niversity

    GDeckett 1ark CampusH to study for a degree in port and

    )xercise cience. The opportunity arose for 6ucy to takeup igh 4iving, as a side#line hobby er obsessive

    nature and determination for perfection, led her to become

    Dritish "asters igh 4iving Champion G%%F J %%%H. This

    gave her a great grounding to become an all round

    International circus 0crobat and 0erialist.

    0fter a number of gruelling auditions, 6ucy was selected

    to participate in the Circus Training programme for the

    >ew "illennium )xperience Company, which led into

    performing in the "illennium 4ome Central how during

    the year '''. $ollowing on from this 0erial spectacular

    and an ankle and knee operation, 6ucy learnt winging

    Trape-e and went o< to Ibi-a for a summer seasonwinging in 1rivilege >ightclub for The Kood hip

    "anumission. In '' she had the opportunity to ful7l

    one of her life#long ambitions, the $lying Trape-e. 0fter

    performing in front of The >ational Theatre and spending

    the summer ying around in the air, 6ucy broke her neck

    and had to be pinned back together with a metal plate

    >ot to be put o< by this forced LrestE, 6ucy fought back to

    the Circus world, Gvia the stripping worldH and went on to

    wow audiences all around the 5orld with her spectacular

    and daring acts. =ver the past ' years, alongside her

    performing career she teamed up with & others "ad

    atterEs to set up a Circus chool called 0irCraft Circus,popped out a baby and took another brief year out for

    shoulder surgery. 4espite all this 6ucy continues to wow

    audiences around the globe with new and exciting acts.

    he currently performs 0crobalance, oop, ilks, Triples

    Trape-e, arness, 1ole, $ire $ans and $ire 1oi. 0 uni9ue

    performer in a league of her own.

    0lready a 9uali7ed Kymnastics instructor, 6ucy started to

    train people in Circus 0rts at the >ational Centre for

    Circus 0rts from '' to ''. he was an aerial and

    acrobatics trainer for the 4egree, 0dults, 8outh, Corporate

    and Intro 4ay programmes, before becoming the ead

    part of their ying trape-e spectacle. 0t the same time

    0lex $rith 7rst suggested living in a warehouse, which was

    the birth of the original LangarE.

    THE VENUE

    0irCraft Circus is based in the /oyal Dorough of Kreenwich. The newly refurbished school boasts a

    large aerial training space, creation studio and 7tness studio, all dedicated to the full continuum of

    circus arts training and associated practice.

    The 0ircraft Circus $oundation and Intermediate Courses have attracted students from across the

    3M, )urope, "iddle )ast, 30, outh 0merica, 0ustralia, and from a breadth of backgrounds. ince

    graduating, students from our courses have gone on to successful careers in circus and related

    performance art professions.
