Air Pollution

Air pollution is the introduction of particulates, biological molecules, or other harmful materials into the Earth's atmosphere, possibly causing disease, death to humans, damage to other living organisms such as food crops, or the natural or built environment

Sources of air pollution

Natural Sources: forest fires, dust storm

Unnatural ( man-made) : coal, wood and other fuels used in cars, homes, and factories for energy

Smoke from Industry Smoke from Forest Fire

5 Major Pollutants are:

1. Carbon Monoxide. 2. Sulfur Dioxide 3.Nitrogen Dioxide 4.Particulate Matter 5. Ground Level Ozone

Water Pollution

Any chemical, biological, or physical change in water quality that has a harmful effect on living organisms or makes water unsuitable for desired usage.

Water pollution occurs when pollutants are directly or indirectly discharged into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds.

Sources of Water Pollution

1. Indudtrial Waste 2. Sewage and waste water 3. Mining Activities 4. Marine dumping 5. Accidental oil leakage.

Effects of Water Pollution.

Water pollution extensively affects health in humans and aquatic ecosystems.

WHAT IS NOISE POLLUTION? • Sound that is unwanted or disrupts one’s quality of life is called as noise. When there is lot of noise in the environment, it is termed as noise pollution. • Sound becomes undesirable when it disturbs the normal activities such as working, sleeping, and during conversations. • It is an underrated environmental problem because of the fact that we can’t see, smell, or taste it. • World Health Organization stated that “Noise must be recognized as a major threat to human well-being.

Land Pollution

Land pollution is the destruction of Earth's land surfaces through misuse of land resources by human activities. Polluted land has deposits of liquid and solid waste such as rubbish, garbage, paper, glass and plastic objects

Land pollution is caused by toxic chemicals, pest control substances, construction and human waste.
