HTC aircooled condensers are tested and certfied byEurovent according to ENV 327 European standard.

This extensive testing procedure comprises :

– capacities under standardised conditions

– air flow data

– sound levels

– fan capacities

General

The HTC aircooled condenser range includes 4 basictypes with 1 to 12 fans and duties from 20 to 1060 kWat 15 K temperature difference.

Design

Coil block : Copper Ripple Fin7 tubing withaluminium fins.

Tube diameter : 2“

Tube pitch : 50 x 50 mm triangle

Fin spacing : 2.25 mm

Other fin spacings up to 4 mm available on request.

Coil blocks are pressure tested at 28 bar dry air.

Casing and framework are of pregalvanised sheetsteel (Sendzimir) with an epoxy coating on both sides.Colour scheme: light-grey RAL 7035, mounting feetmodels 076, 090, 091 and 100, dark-grey RAL 7016.Other colours are available at an extra price.All condensers are provided with removable headerpanels.

Floating construction of the condenser coil block.On request the condensers can be fitted with inspec-tion hatches (extra price).

Air direction

Condensors type HTC can be supplied for horizontalor vertical air flow.

Condenser models 076, 090, 091 and 100 :Standard vertical air flow.On request also available for horizontal air flow.

When ordering without air flow indication, the standardexecution will be supplied.

Corrosion protection

The standard condensers have a high corrosion resis-tance through selected materials, surface treatmentand construction. For application in aggressive sur-roundings (coastal-and industrial areas) following de-signs are available at an extra charge:

– fins of seawater resistant aluminium alloy (57S/5052)

– fins of prepainted aluminium

– finned coil coated after assembling

Application as liquid cooler(Dry - Cooler)The condenser can also be used as liquid cooler, forinstance cooling down of cooling water in watercooledplants.

Fan types

All fan types have corrosion resistant fan blades andfan guards.

HTC Type 076

Fans ø 762 mm mounted on a motor support.Fan guards are integrated in the fan plate.Standard execution with fan motors type 076.930.Motors are wired to one or more common terminalboxes. The terminal boxes are located on the endplateat the liquid header end of the coil.

HTC Type 090 / 091

Fans ø 900 mm, fan motors integrated with guardsand mounted to fan discharge hood.

HTC Type 100

Similar in construction to type 090 / 091, fan diameterhowever 1000 mm.

All fan motors of HTC models 090, 091 and 100 areequipped with an overload protector built in the wind-ings. Via terminals in the terminal box this internalprotector must be used in the control current circuit.The electrical control should be arranged in such away that continuous on/off switching of the motors(‘tripping’) is prevented.When the condensers are out of use for longer periods,the motors have to be switched on for at least 2 hoursevery month.

For application at ambient temperatures above 40 °C :special motors on request.

Factors for calculation ofthe condenser capacity

The condenser capacity is the compressor capacitymultiplied with the factor from the diagram.The diagrams are valid for R 404A.At evaporating temperatures below -20 °C the conden-ser capacity has to be calculated from the compressorcapacity at -20 °C, or a starting control should be usedto protect the compressors from high starting loads.

Capacity

The basic capacity ratings (pages 4, 5 and 8, 9) arefor R404A at a td * of 15 K and ambient temperaturesup to 25 °C.

* td = difference between condensing- and ambienttemperature.

Capacities are directly proportional with other tempera-ture differences between 10 and 20 K.

The refrigerant circuiting is optimised to the selectedfan speed. When selecting a condenser model with twofan speeds a ‘first choice’ fan speed has to be given towhich the refrigerant circuiting will be designed.The condenser capacity for the ‘second choice’ fanspeed can be up to 10 % below the stated capacity.

Capacity control

For multifan models capacity can be controlled by cy-cling one or more fans. Capacity control on all modelsis also possible by using 2-speed or speed regulatedsingle phase motors (in combination with an electronicspeed control device).The fan compartments are separated by baffle plates.

The soundlevels in the tables on pages 4, 5, 8 and 9are the results of tests in free field conditions.The values are measured in the horizontal plane at adistance of 10 m. More information on request.

Extended feet

Extended feet can be supplied as optional extra forcondenser models 076, 090, 091 and 100.These feet are supplied separately. The standard feetheight gives 400 mm free space under the condenser.Extended feet are available for heights of 600 mm.

Transport

All models are provided with lifting lugs.To avoid damage during hoisting, a hoisting beamshould be used, by which the given angles are to beconsidered. Beware of shocks during transport andhandling (sudden lifting).

Mounting

Refrigerant pipework connections are to be solderedfree of tension.When connecting more than one condenser in parallelthe pressure drop on the refrigerant side has to be con-sidered.

Location

Air movement

Condensors should be positioned to achieve the follow-ing criteria :

– Adequate space (min. 1.0 metre) must be left forfree entry to the coil inlet face.

– No restrictions to the air discharge.

– No possibility of direct air recirculation(short circuiting of air).

HTC-N air cooled condensers are identical in construc-tion to type HTC air cooled condensers.These condensers HTC are tested and certified byEurovent according to ENV 327 European standard.

This extensive testing procedure comprises :

– capacities under standardised conditions

General

The HTC-N aircooled condenser range includes 4basic types with 1 to 12 fans and duties from 22 to930 kW at 15 K temperature difference.

Design

Coil block : Stainless steel tubing withaluminium fins.

Tube diameter : 13 mm

Tube pitch : 50 x 50 mm triangle

Fin spacing : 2.25 mm

Other fin spacings up to 4 mm available on request.

Coil blocks are pressure tested at 28 bar dry air.

Casing and framework are of pregalvanized sheetsteel (Sendzimir) with an epoxy coating on both sides.Colour scheme: light-grey RAL 7035, mounting feetmodels 076, 090, 091 and 100, dark-grey RAL 7016.Other colours are available at an extra price.All condensers are provided with removable headerpanels.

Condenser models 076, 090, 091 and 100Floating construction of the condenser coil block.On request the condensers can be fitted with inspec-tion hatches (extra price).

Air direction

Condensors type HTC-N can be supplied for horizon-tal or vertical air flow.

Condenser models 076, 090, 091 and 100 :standard vertical air flow.On request also available for horizontal air flow.

When ordering without air flow indication, the standardexecution will be supplied.

Corrosion protection

The standard condensers have a high corrosion resis-tance through selected materials, surface treatmentand construction. For application in aggressive sur-roundings (coastal-and industrial areas) following de-signs are available at an extra charge:

– fins of seawater resistant aluminium alloy (57S/5052)

– fins of prepainted aluminium

– finned coils coated after assembling

Fan types

All fan types have corrosion resistant fan blades andfan guards.

HTC-N Type 076

Fans ø 762 mm mounted on a motor support.Fan guards are integrated in the fan plate.Standard execution with fan motors type 076.930.Motors are wired to one or more common terminalboxes.

The terminal boxes are located on the endplate at theliquid header end of the coil.

HTC-N Type 090 / 091

Fans ø 900 mm with 2-speed fan motors integratedwith guards and mounted to fan discharge hood.

HTC-N Type 100

Similar in construction to type 090 / 091, fan diameterhowever 1000 mm.

All fan motors of HTCN models 090, 091 and 100 areequipped with an overload protector built in the wind-ings. Via terminals in the terminal box this internalprotector must be used in the control current circuit.The electrical control should be arranged in such away that continuous on/off switching of the motors(‘tripping’) is prevented.When the condensers are out of use for longer periods,the motors have to be switched on for at least 2 hoursevery month.

Capacity control

For multifan models capacity can be controlled by cy-cling one or more fans. Capacity control on all modelsis also possible by using 2-speed or speed regulatedsingle phase motors (in combination with an electronicspeed control device).The fan compartments are separated by baffle plates.

Multi circuitingCondensers can be supplied (at extra cost) with multicircuiting.

Soundlevels dB(A)

The soundlevels in the tables on pages 4, 5, 8 and 9are the results of tests in free field conditions.The values are measured in the horizontal plane at adistance of 10 m.More information on request.

Extended feet

Extended feet can be supplied as optional extra forcondenser models 076, 090, 091 and 100.These feet are supplied separately. The standard feetheight gives 400 mm free space under the condenser.Extended feet are available for heights of 600 mm.

Transport

All models are provided with lifting lugs.To avoid damage during hoisting, a hoisting beamshould be used, by which the given angles are to beconsidered. Beware of shocks during transport andhandling (sudden lifting).

Mounting

Refrigerant pipework connections are to be solderedfree of tension.When connecting more than one condenser in parallelthe pressure drop on the refrigerant side has to be con-sidered.

Location

Air movement

Condensors should be positioned to achieve the follow-ing criteria :

– Adequate space (min. 1.0 meter) must be left forfree entry to the coil inlet face.

– No restrictions to the air discharge.

– No possibility of direct air recirculation(short circuiting of air).

Eurovent Within Europe, a wide variety of published data on capacities are in use, generally depending on national standards. Most in use by the leading manufacturers are national and international standards like DIN, EN, NEN and ASHRAE. Due to this, cus-tomers have not been able to make objective product comparisons.

To meet the European requirements on EN standards, the European Refrigeration Industry embodied by Eurovent has set standards to guarantee an independent certification pro-cedure for air cooled condensers (based on EN 327) and unit air coolers (based on EN 328). The capacities, as given in the technical documentation, are therefore based on EN 327 (15 K temperature difference between condensing tempera-ture and ambient temperature, ambient temperature25 °C).

Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)The Pressure Equipment Directive PED applies to all Help-man products. Helpman has been PED certified for Modules B+D. All ODIN coils are pressure tested with dry air at the fol-lowing pressures:

General information ODIN stands for a revolutionary new concept in air-cooled condensers and dry coolers. The ODIN range has been de-signed to fully meet the demands of both installers and end users.

ODIN condensers can be used with both halogen refriger-ants, ammonia and CO2 (CO2 on request). Nominal condenser capacities 8 up to 204 kW.Air flow 2.475 up to 60.800 m3/h.

Air flowStandard the ODIN will be supplied for vertical air flow (exe-cution V). However, all single coil models (ODIN 1-1**) can be supplied for horizontal air flow (execution H).

When ordering without air flow indication, thestandard execution (V) will be supplied.

Corrosion protectionThe ODIN has a high corrosion resistance through selected materials, surface treatment and construction. For applica-tion in agressive surroundings (coastal and industrial areas) special designs (C1, C2) are available at an extra charge

GuaranteeHelpman offers 2 year full guarantee on all products. For ODIN an extra year guarantee is added for the fan motors. Therefore all ODIN models have a 3 year guarantee on the fan motors.

FansAll ODIN models are fitted with draw though fans ø560 mm, plastic fan blades and corrosion resistant fan guards. Terminal boxes are provided with two cable inlets M20 x 1.5.

The fan motors offer a high energy yiels in combination with very favourable sound characteristics. All fan motors are equipped with a thermal safety device built in the windings. The electrical control should be arranged in such a way that continous on/off switcing of the motors (‘tripping’) is prevent-ed. The fans are to be wired using the connection box of the motor. All motors are suitable for frequency fan speed con-trol. 230V motors also suitable for triac fan speed control. Special fan motors on request (application at ambient tem-peratures above 40 °C; 60 Hz motors etc.).

When the condensers are out of use for longerperiods, the motors have to be switched on for at

least 2 hours every month.

Sound pressure dB(A)Sound pressure as given in the tables are sound pressure levels in dB(A) at 5 m distance in free field conditions. Values may deviate depending on situations at site. The table below gives calculated sound pressure corrections at various dis-tances.

The table values on page 4 are merely an indication to the sound pressure level on site. In general, the

actual values will turn out higher. In order to calculate the correct sound pressure level in the setup situation, an acoustic calculation will be required based on additional information about surroundings, positioning and applied materials on site.

TransportAll ODIN models are provided with lifting lugs. To avoid dam-age during hoisting, a hoisting beam can be used. The given angles are to be considered. Beware of shocks during trans-port and handling.

MountingRefrigerant pipework are to be soldered free of tension. When connecting more than one condensor in parallel the pressure drop on the refrigerant side has to be considered.

PositioningCondensers should be positioned to meet the following crite-ria:– Exact horizontal setup.– Adequate space must be left for free entry to the coil inlet

face. – No restrictions to the air discharge. – No possibility of direct air recirculation.

Installation and maintenanceFor more information on installation and maintenance of air cooled condensers we refer to our brochure nr. 88.02 (“In-stallation and maintenance instructions for aircooled con-densers and dry coolers”), which is issued with every ODIN.

It is of utmost importance that all instructions areclosely followed up. Therefore brochure 88.02 is to be

kept in a safe place for future reference.

Calculation of condensor capacityThe condenser capacity is the compressor capacity multi-plied with the factor from the diagram. The diagrams are valid for R-404A. At evaporating temperatures below -20 °C the condenser capacity has to be calculated from the compres-sor capacity at -20 °C, or a starting control should be used to protect the compressors from high starting loads.

The diagrams are a mere indication. The correct values depend on system and compresser make.

CapacitiesThe nominal capacities mentioned below are for R-404A at∆t1 = 15 K and ambient temperatures up to 25 °C (∆t1 = difference between condensing and ambient temperature).Capacities are directly proportional with other temperature differences between 10 en 20 K ∆t1.The refrigerant circuiting is optimised to the selected fan speed.

Capacity controlFor the ODIN the capacity can be controlled by cycling one or more fans. Capacity control is also possible by using speed regulated variable phase motors (in combination with an electronic speed control device). The fan compartments are separated by baffle plates.
