GENERAL INFORMATION1. APPLYING
Apply through the squadron (on the form provided)
If you’re planning family vacations please indicate the dates you’re not available for camp
Priority ranking is based on attendance, behaviour and merit
Acceptance is done by Region, not us – when they tell us, we’ll tell you if/for what and when you’ve been accepted. Don’t ask, we’ll tell.
Offers and travel orders will be made by email only – we MUST have a cadet AND parent email.

GENERAL INFORMATION1. APPLYING CONTINUED
If you don’t respond by the deadline, or if you refuse an offer, don’t count on getting another.
If you accept, then later cancel, an offer, don’t expect another. Ever.
If you are not initially accepted, you MAY still receive a latter offer, even up to the last minute.

GENERAL INFORMATION2. ATTENDING Once accepted cadets can get detailed camp rules & lists of what to bring, and what NOT to bring, from the Cadets.ca website.
Cadets will also be issued, before going to camp, camp uniform items, including for example, shorts/shirts, runners, and a camp tilley hat.
In most cases, cadets will depart for camp from 1 Yukon Lane (Downsview) by bus, and be returned to there.
If a cadet does not behave appropriately, they will be sent home– parents will have to pick them up at their own expense.

GENERAL INFORMATION2. ATTENDING CONTINUEDAll cadets will be given the opportunity to call home from camp, and parents may generally visit on Sundays, which is not a training day.
Cadets at camp earn an allowance of $10 per day, up to $60 a week or $360 a course.
Squadron staff are NOT regularly in touch with the camps, and do not have information on how cadets are doing. Don’t contact us except in an emergency.

GENERAL TRAINING
Introductory, 2 week camp – “little bit of everything”. Held at 8 Wing, Canadian Forces Base Trenton.
Activities include: survival exercise, air-rifle, drill, paper gliders and rockets, airport operations, tours, recreational sports/ swimming, music training, general knowledge and citizenship.
12-14 years old
Completed level 1.

LEADERSHIP
Basic 3 weeks, held at CSTC Blackdown (Canadian Forces Base
Borden) to the west of Barrie Using drill and other tools teaches followership, teamwork
and leadership Level 2 completed
Leadership and Ceremonial 6 weeks, held at 8 Wing, Canadian Forces Base Trenton Teaches instructor level skills in followership, teamwork and
leadership Level 3 Completed

FITNESS/SPORTS
Basic 3 weeks, held at CSTC Blackdown (Canadian Forces Base
Borden) to the west of Barrie Sportsmanship, teamwork through a variety of sports Level 2 completed
Fitness and Sports Instructor 6 weeks, held at Blackdown (Borden) Teaches instructor level skills in sports/fitness, including
teamwork and leadership Level 3 Completed

Borden) to the west of Barrie Teaches instructor level skills in wilderness survival, including

5. NATIONAL COURSES
Cadets have already applied for National Summer Courses
Practice Interviews will be conducted 24 Jan 2014, read the Air Cadet League Handbook for information on Interview Questions
Interviews for All National Courses (except IACE) – 1 February 2014
IACE Interview – 15 February 2014
Selection and Announcement by Early-Mid May
