With its 73 hectares (182.5 acres), the Joseph Drouhin Domaine is one of the largest estates in the region. With another year in the record books, the 2014 vintage came in at the third-largest grape harvest ever, down eight percentfrom the previous year. A mild winter and spring with drought conditions persisting, bud break occurred early. From southernto northern California winemakers have stated that it was an even earlier harvest then years before, starting with sparklinggrapes in July and ending mid-October for later ripening varieties. Despite the drought, California will produce another greatvintage. Arid conditions have given the grapes a chance to struggle, which thins out the vines and allows the clusters to gainconcentration offlavor, intensity and complexity.

Nestled amongst six acres of Sangiovese grapes is the winery's newest addition: the "Chai" (pronounced "shay"). All ofChâteau Julien's barrels are set in the Chai for aging. Built one story into the ground, the Chai is kept at a naturally cooltemperature and humidity for aging wines. The walls are 12"-15" thick, with a natural ventilation system extending from thewest of the building to the east. The addition of the Chai in 1998 has enabled the winery to barrel ferment one hundredpercent of the Chardonnays and age wine longer in oak. It’s no secret Italians have a love for the vine in their blood – Ron Donati is no different. In 1998 when he purchased thePaicines property his vision was for his son, Matt Donati, to grow high quality, unique grapes from the 9th oldest AVA inCalifornia. Soon, after rave reviews of the fruit, Ron Donati (ever the business man) got to thinking… good grapes makegreat wine. Thus is born Donati Family Vineyard.

In 2003 we produced Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Meritage, and Claret, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc. We held these inbottle until 2005 when we started hand selling the product to great restaurants, and boutique wine shops. Again, our earswere burning with positive reviews and re-orders from our customers. We had so many requests from the public to get theirhands on this wine - we couldn’t turn them down. Though Paicines offers a lovely home for our grapes, with a population of204 - it’s not the best place for a Tasting Room, so we chose Templeton, CA (right outside of Paso Robles) for our new home.

Our estate wines are cared for primarily employing organic intervention methods. We utilize larger barrels and employlonger ageing processes which help to retain the distinct terroir character of the wines we make. Our goal is to produceserious wines for the most demanding consumer.

The Angelini Estate has beautiful olive trees scattered about the property as well as pastures of radiant sunflowers, floweringalfalfa and fields of wheat. Our farm is located on the beautiful rolling hills of the Marche region and only 16 miles from sea,on a clear day visitors can spot a view of the Adriatic from the vineyard. The farm is proudly and meticulously maintained bya local personal caretaker throughout the year.As the Azienda Agricola Angelini continues to evolve, studies are taking place to refurbish theexisting farmhouse building on the estate for future leisure and travel accommodations.
