PRE-DEPARTURE

Make a checklist (toiletries, clothes, important info)

Contact banks and credit cards so they know you will be using it out of the country.

Photocopies of important documents, came in handy

Packed towels, purchased phone and sheets there. I purchased adapters and convertors prior to leaving.

AIFS gives a check list of items you wouldn’t think to bring. Have all important contacts and information with you at all times.

BULA, WELCOME TO NADI, FIJI!

Landed February 5, 2009 from Qantas Airways

Stayed for 10 days Spent three days at

Hexagon International-Nadi.

One week with homestay family in Suva

Took one course at University of South Pacific-Suva

Eco-Tour Waterfall jumping,

rainforest rain and mosquitos.

Community involvement at squatters settlement

Food Bananas, bread,

pineapple juice, and bottled Fiji Water.

UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH PACIFIC AND HOMESTAY

Welcoming Ceremony Bula! and ceremonial drink of

Kava. One course in 5 days and then

community service and other activities.

Homestay was: two sisters, brother, divorced mother and father.

MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY

Located right outside of Sydney in Marsfield, short walk to Mall that is next to train station. Bus stations everywhere.

Organized, large, diverse on a beautiful campus.

STA Travel on Campus Lived in University Village

Consisted of a kitchen, dining room, living room with appliances, cutlery and furniture.

o5 bedrooms all with own bathroom, big closet and shower.oWe are all split up but together and able to meet others from different programs, countries and the Australian natives.

Huge campus, little town with mall right near it, buses run in and out of there but still university feel.

CANT COMPARE TO SNHU WITH 40,000 STUDENTS

CITY LIFE OF SYDNEY All public transportation-AIFS gave us travel

ten bus passes once a month. Cabs are expensive. Bars close between 3

and 5 am and the last bus is around 3. Clean and safe. Friendly. Always bad areas. Many suburbs/places to visit

Cooked with roommates and neighbors. Steak? Thanksgiving in June? Tasty Cheese
