Project “EDUC8” is a summer project aimed at bringing basic education around
entrepreneurship to young people and also providing career counselling to them.
We have come to discover that education is a fundamental problem of people living in remote
communities although it is still a general problem of the country. As a contribution towards an
educated youths, we have set out to help kids on the street back to school, kids with zero or low
assess to education back to an educated life, and we have also decided to plan the education
around this two wide topics- entrepreneurship and career counselling.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP : This is set to help participants develop entrepreneurship competency.
Workshop and training sessions on basic skill acquisition, management etc would be run during the
course of the project. The aim of this part is to channel their already acquired skill through a
productive part.
CAREER COUNSELLING: this is the part where volunteers get to support participants in making
the right career choices, participants would acquire knowledge around careers and they would be
helped to align their competencies, talents, skills and personal ambition to make a secure career
choice.
Target Age group: 15 and above
Location: A community called OKE OSI.
Interns working on this project would be accommodated in the community and would only be
coming to town on weekends.
PROJECT ONE: EDUC8
ITify: the idea behind this project is to make every youth in the state savvy in information
technology and in delivering this we would be recruiting Eps who have IT backgrounds and they
would be having a platform to impact their knowledge into other youths and at the same time
improve their own personal proficiency.
This project would be run alongside Leah foundation, an NGO and their well equipped resource
center would be the venue for this delivery.
IMPLEMENTATION:
Eps would be responsible for mobilizing students.
Eps would be involve in campaign at target areas (churches, mosques, secondary schools).
Eps would work in groups to deliver the 5 weeks intensive training to students and each group
would have their students.
Eps would be responsible for retention for the purpose of project sustainability.
Focus topics: Basic Microsoft office Usage, computer usage, graphics (photoshop, corel draw
etc.), Web development. We hope to add more topics base on Eps skills and students needs.
Target Age group: 13 – 18 years
Project Location: City of Ilorin
PROJECT TWO : ITify
SPECIAL (SUPPORTING) PROJECT
APPRENDRE L’ANGLAISE: Meaning learn English is a project we designed alongside a language
institute called BLACKBINNACOM information company to help Eps who are interested in
learning English or brushing up their English proficiency. They would be having classes for 1hour
30 minutes three times every week for their internship duration.
BlackBinnacom would however certify this program after the time duration.
PROJECT SMILE: This is a community development project which is focusing on helping children
living with cleft lip and cleft palate deformity, in getting the corrective surgery needed in
correcting this deformity. The power of a SMILE can never be overstated. So therefore, we also
aim at putting a “good smile” on the faces of the people faced with this concern. A cleft lip or
palate can be successfully treated with surgery, especially so if conducted soon after birth or in
early childhood AND together with our partner, SMILE TRAIN and AIM AFRICA we would be
facilitating a free surgical operation for affected people + orientation program for people in the
target community in other to control future occurrence.
