February 5, 2014 To Whom It May Concern FROM: Aïda Bound, MSW Social Worker/Family Therapist English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher RE: Mary Jo Waterbury When Mary Jo Waterbury asked me to recommend her for a scholarship I was especially pleased. Over the last five months I have had the opportunity to work with and get to know an extraordinary young woman! Ms. Waterbury has assisted me by speaking English with adult students who are struggling to learn our challenging language. The students report that she is not only helpful, but also most respectful and patient. She takes an interest in each one. She has learned from them as well as them from her. As a retired social worker/family therapist who has been closely involved with adolescents most of my life, I find Ms. Waterbury to be reliable—always ready every week to meet with her students; always willing to try something new and to assist us in every way; respectful of others and interested in our students and their lives and diverse cultures. She seems to have the unique ability to juggle full-time college-level school work, a part-time job, extra-curricular activities and volunteering. Ms. Waterbury's high goals –to obtain a degree in psychology and to go on to be a counselor/family therapist will surely help her in keeping up the ambitious pace that she has chosen for herself. I look forward to following her path as she moves on. The students and I will always appreciate the time and connectedness that she has given us these last semesters. It is my honor to recommend Ms. Waterbury for a scholarship as she pursues her goals. She is a high- level candidate with a strength of character that will stand her in good stead throughout her life. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions and thank you for this opportunity to recommend Ms. Waterbury. RE: Mary Jo Waterbury

When Mary Jo Waterbury asked me to recommend her for a scholarship I was especially pleased. Over the last five months I have had the opportunity to work with and get to know an extraordinary

young woman!

Ms. Waterbury has assisted me by speaking English with adult students who are struggling to learn our challenging language. The students report that she is not only helpful, but also most respectful and patient. She takes an interest in each one. She has learned from them as well as them from her.

As a retired social worker/family therapist who has been closely involved with adolescents most of my

life, I find Ms. Waterbury to be reliable—always ready every week to meet with her students; always willing to try something new and to assist us in every way; respectful of others and interested in our students and their lives and diverse cultures. She seems to have the unique ability to juggle full-time

college-level school work, a part-time job, extra-curricular activities and volunteering.

Ms. Waterbury's high goals –to obtain a degree in psychology and to go on to be a counselor/family therapist will surely help her in keeping up the ambitious pace that she has chosen for herself. I look forward to following her path as she moves on. The students and I will always appreciate the time and

connectedness that she has given us these last semesters.

It is my honor to recommend Ms. Waterbury for a scholarship as she pursues her goals. She is a high-level candidate with a strength of character that will stand her in good stead throughout her life.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions and thank you for this opportunity to recommend Ms. Waterbury.
