Introduction Co-Chairman Message Schedule for Day 1 Schedule for Day 2 The Team at AIBC 2013
CONTENTS.
About AIBC Initiated by the students from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the Asia Investment Banking Conference (AIBC) is the largest student-run conference in Asia focused on Corporate Advisory and Financial Markets. Held for the 5th year running, the conference attracts the brightest and most talented students from renowned universities around the world each year. Keynote speeches, panel discussions and interactive workshops feature senior professionals representing various prominent organisations within the finance industry. Building upon the success of previous years, this year’s conference seeks to expand delegate’s experience by exploring additional dimensions within the field of finance, as well as diving deeper into pertinent issues at hand. It is held over two days, from 5-6th Sept 2013 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) in Hong Kong. Our Vision To maintain our position as Asia’s most eminent platform that attracts the most distinguished senior professionals and the brightest students to discuss critical issues and trends in the finance industry.
Co-Chairman Message Last year, Asia’s economic landscape underwent tremendous changes, as a result of shifts in political leaderships and economic policies. These effects, coupled with the seemingly never-ending sovereign debt crises in Europe, culminate in a challenging global landscape for businesses as well as individuals trying to navigate their way to success. With the United States teetering on the edge of recovery, Asia appears to have the most optimistic outlook for investors in the near future. Outside of the traditional powerhouse economies in Asia such as China and Japan, the economic liberalisation of countries such as Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia are but a few themes that all of us can look to capitalise upon. In this dynamic and exciting environment, every challenge presents an opportunity for those with the courage to seize them. As students, while studying for our degree, we must also continue to be aware of the workings of the real world and latest industry trends to better position ourselves for the future. This conference aims to offer insights and perspectives that will definitely play important roles as you make your first foray into the financial industry. The Asia Investment Banking Conference 2013 is the 5th edition of a growing initiative by a group of students from the London School of Economics and Political Science. As Asia’s largest student-run conference focused on Finance and Investment Banking, we stand proud to be part of the developing ecosystem. This year’s five main conference themes are namely: Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, Capital Markets Origination, Perspectives on China & Financial Markets. As a conference completely organised with full autonomy by students, we hope that this conference would serve to address the interests and curiosity of all our delegates of the recent developments in various aspects of the financial industry. On behalf of the organising team and our sponsors, it is with great pleasure that we welcome you to this Conference and we hope all of you will benefit from the line-up of events and speakers we have prepared for the next two days.
