General Description

Thank you very much for your special patronage of LG air conditioners.

This PDB(Product Data Book) has been prepared as a guide for selecting LG's AHU (Air Handling Unit).

LG has produced a high quality product that is adaptable to almost any application such as large halls, schools,offices, banks, workshops, laboratories, restaurants, cinemas, hospitals, departmental stores and super marketsetc.

However, proper installation, operation and maintenance must be followed to comprehend the fully capacity andlife of the product.

This PDB contains standard & general specification of LG's AHU.

Standard model of LG's AHU are available in 15 type to deliver from 1,770CFM(830LPS) to44,150CFM(20,830LPS) nominal air flow rate, but it is possible to supply the specific requirements of AHU specifi-cation demanded customers.

Double skin panels of LG's AHU are designed to meet the indoor air quality requirements, and are insulated with afull 2 inches of insulation.

Drain pan is designed to be well drained for applying the proper grade. That is made by over stainless steel 1.5twith insulating under part(Pu 15t).

Fan applied LG's AHU is selected by optimal fan selection using selection program certified by AMCA certificationprogram. LG’s AHU use a Fan on a guarantee of AMCA 210-99(Fan performance) & AMCA 200-97(Sound level).

A lot of information regarding the design & detail specification of LG's AHU is provided In this PDB.

Please utilize all the information for conducting your business efficiently. Make sure the specification, size or oth-ers technical data are same as provided in this PDB before you start the project.

1. Design(structure)Air Handling Unit(AHU) consists of supply air fan part that ventilates cooled(or heated) air into loaded space,return air fan to ventilate air in the loaded space, filter part, mixing part that combines outside and returned air,and coil part that accomplishes air-cooling and heating being connected to chiller or EHP.

The detailed items consist of fan(supply, return), motor, filter(pre, medium), damper(return, exhaust, outdoor ,mixing), coil, isolator, drain pan, casing, base frame, and other accessories.

2. Component Features2.1 FrameCasing is constructed of framed modules for maximum rigidi-ty and strength. structure frame is made of aluminum or steelprofile which has excellent mechanical characteristics.

2.2 CasingThe panel's structure is double skin type with 50 mm thick Urethane form board insulation, which has good heat insulation, sandwiched between sheet steel panels.

The outside panel is made of cold rolled steel sheet(SPCC 1.0mm) with electrostatic powder coating, and theinside panel is made of galvanized steel sheet(SGCC 0.6mm).

2.3 DoorsFor inspection and fix of AHU inside, facilitate service andmaintenance by setting up access door as panel structure atnecessary locations such as ventilator part, filter part, and soon.

To inspect AHU inside, single and double glazed glass win-dows can be fitted to many sections.

The window is normally placed centrally on the panel.

Access door is made as air tight structure by applying twocircle handles and specially designed door hinge.

2.4 Base & Drain PanBase is made as enough solid structure to maintain the established structure according to AHU'S load. Drain pan is made as a structure to be well drained for applying the proper grade.

FAN's characteristic and merit consisting of LG AHULG’s AHU use a Fan on a guarantee of AMCA 210-99(Fan perfor-mance) & AMCA 300(Sound level).

<Characteristic>

- Optimal fan selection using electric selection program certified byAMCA (Air Movement & Control Association)

- High tension steel sheet coating for high efficiency and low noise real-ization.

- The best level balancing of ISO 1940 G2.5.

- The world best bearing use

HousingFan housing is made by the thickness to prevent vibration and housing sound.

If fan’s standard is less than1000(Impeller diameter size, mm), make housing scroll and side plate by highfusion galvanizing steel sheet based on “Pittsburg Lock” method.

For more than 1250, after completely welding by general steel sheet, and finish by polyester powder coating ofthe minimum of 60 µm.

ImpellerFor supply air fan’s airfoil wheel (both inhaling), after welding by cold rolled steelsheet, finish by polyester powder coating.

Return air fan’s forward curved wheel (sirocco type) is made through non-weldingConnection by high fusion galvanizing steel sheet.

Every Impeller must be balanced at static and dynamic state based on ISO 1940and AMCA 204/3-G2.5 standard.

ShaftThe quality of the shaft must be elaborately machine processed within an allowable error based on ISO 286-2-G6 Grade standard selecting standard which doesn’t happen sink obtained by C45 carbon steel’s additionalweight and high-speed rotation, and after assembling at the factory, do rust proof coating.

Select to keep safety for critical speed which is made 1.25 times more than maximum operation speed or largerthan that.

BearingEvery bearing should use SKF product.

Apply self-aligning ball type enough to bear circumference direction andshaft’s load.

Bearing durability is more than 40,000 hours

2.6 MotorMotor is a belt-drive type's product and applies more than insulationclass, " F " Class.

Motor’s airtight and watertight protection grade is IP54, and although awater drop Invades from any direction, it can be a structure to be pro-tected.

Make easily adjust V-belt tension by manufacturing motor base as aslide style.

2.7 Drive UnitFan & motor pulley is able to maximize power delivery efficiency by applying multi ribbed pulley.

For rubber belt (V-BELT)’s quality, by applying multi ribbed pulley and thus excelling in belt’s pliability and flexi-bility, it is stable power delivery at high-speed rotation and small size and, electric motion efficiency is able toincrease up to 98% by minimizing belt slip.

2.8 IsolatorBy attaching Isolator to fan motor frame, make it capable of absorbingfan’s vibration.

By attaching canvas between fan’s exit and AHU casing, design andmake to prevent fan’s vibration and noise delivery.

When setting up motor outside of AHU, it is essential to set up horizon-tally being pushed preventer to prevent being pushed while driving fanbetween fan part and the part connected to it.

Prevent delivery of vibration and twisting originated from moving by set-ting up horizontally being pushed preventer between return fan sectionand other section.

2.9 CoilDesign and make as counter flow style which is the most effi-cient fluid flowing form for heat exchange of coil and air.

When coil’s length is more than 1m, use middle reinforcingsteel sheet to prevent frame’s bending or transformation

Make it without winding and unevenness to minimize refriger-ant’s flow resistance.

Header and U-bend’s welding part have enough intensity tobear maximum use pressure.

By executing coil’s pressure test as 20kg/cm2 at Water coil(41kg/cm2 at DX coil), and maximum water tempera-ture as 150°C, there must not be a leak, transformation, explosion, and so on at coil’s each part.

Make coil’s safety rate more than 15-20%, and make it more than two rows

2.10 Air filterFilter must be selected and setup to fit option and handling air flow.

2.11 DamperAirfoil shaped blade apparently reduces the pressure drop andsound level across the damper.

Soft and contact-easy blade seal gives good contact withÄadja-cent blade seal and this reduces leakage rates.

Stainless steel, aluminum and PVC materials only are used togive good operation and to prevent corrosion after time elapsed.

2.12 Electric HeaterThe heater element is of the resistance open coil

type. Thermal overheat cut-outs and fusible links are providedto shut off power to heaters in case of airflow failure.

2.13 HumidifierSteam injection Type

This type of humidifier is fed by steam from a main supplyrather than being generated locally by a self-generative unit.

An effective system which ensures;

- Low operating cost

- Hygienic humidification

- High steam output per metre of lance.

- Very low noise levels.

- Simplified duct and piping requirements.

- Close spacing where multiple lances are needed.

- Low steam ejection velocity for efficient air / steam mixing.

Evaporative Type

Evaporative humidifiers provide very economic humidificationas, unlike steam humidifiers, the water does not need to beheated.

Running costs can be 150 times less than steam systemsrequiring only a single phase power supply. Many operating fea-tures make these humidifiers extremely hygenic and safe touse.

2.14 Heat Recovery systemIn order to conserve the energy consumption by exchanging energy between the supply and exhaust airstreams, various types of heat recovery systems can be provided as an integral part of LG AHU unit. Thesedepend upon special installation and other Requirements

Plate Heat Exchanger

Plate heat exchangers are used in order to separate supply airand exhaust air completely. Air flows of different temperaturesare passed by each other by the crossflow principle. The airflows are 100% seperated by a divididing wall out of thin aluminium sheets. This excludes the possibility of impurity,odour and humidity.

Rotary Heat Recovery System

The energy recovered is used to precondition (precool/pre-heat) the supply air. Thereby reducing the energy needed tocondition fresh air.

The energy recovery is achieved when the enthalpy/energyrecovery rotor slowly rotates between the counter flowingexhaust and supply air streams absorbing the sensible as wellas the latent energy. Installing this system helps to reducecapital/operating cost of air conditioning equipment in new aswell as existing buildings.

8.2 Foundation

* D : Need to enough space for duct work

* L : On the designated access side of the unit, workingareas must be equal to the width of the unit.

* H : Allowance for coil connections, must be "L" + 200 mm.

When selecting and preparing the unit site, followthese guidelines:

1. Ensure that the site can support the total weight ofthe unit. Unit weight figures only provide total grossweights and do not include the additional weight forwater in any coils.

2. Confirm that the foundation of the mounting platformis large enough to include the unit dimensions plusservice plus service access.

3. The floor or foundation must be level for correct coildrainage and condensate flow.

4. Provide adequate lighting for maintenance person-nel to perform maintenance duties.

5. When the unit is positioned on site, there must besufficient space around the unit to ensure that cor-rect operation and effective maintenance can becarried out.
