The Holy Qurn
Hadth of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa
And who is more unjust than he who prohibits thename of Allah being gloried in Allahs templesand seek to ruin them? It was not proper for suchmen to enter therein except in fear. For them is
disgrace in this world, and theirs shall be a greatpunishment in the next.
(Chapter 2 - Al-Baqarah Verse 115)
Those who have been driven out from theirhomes unjustly only because they said, OurLord is Allah -- And if Allah did not repel somemen by means of others, there would surely havebeen pulled down cloisters and churches andsynagogues and mosques, wherein the nameof Allah is o commemorated. And Allah will
surely help one who helps Him. Allah is indeedPowerful, Mighty.
(Chapter 22 - Al-Hajj Verse 41)
Lord, I make my complaint unto Thee of my
helplessness and frailty, and my insiginicance
before mankind. Thou art Lord of the poor and
feeble, and Thou art my Lord. Into whose hands
wilt Thou abandon me? Into the hands of strangers
that beset me round me, or of the enemy Thou hastgiven the mastery over me at home? If Thy wrath
be not upon me, I have no concern; but rather Thy
favour is the more wide unto me. I seek refuge in
the light of Thy countenance. It is Thine to chase
away the darkness, and to bestow peace, both in
this world and the next; let not Thy wrath alight
upon me, nor Thy indignation. It is Thane to show
anger until Thou are pleased; and there is no other
power nor any resource but in Thee.

So Said the Promised Messiahas
Spending in the Way of Allh
3Pearls of Wisdom
The world is a passing panorama. If a person does not
exert himself fully to carry out a good deed at its proper
time, he cannot thereaer recover the lost time. I am
aware that I have lived the greater part of my life, and
it appears from Divine revelations and also from my
own estimation that only a small part of it remains.
Therefore, whoever helps me in the aainment of myobjectives according to my aspirations and during my
lifetime and in my presence will, I trust, be with me on
the Day of Judgment also. And I do not perceive that
he who spends money in such important maers will
suer any loss in his wealth because of this spending.
Indeed, his wealth will be blessed. Therefore, trusting
in God Almighty, you should act with full sincerity and
eagerness and courage for this is the time of fruitful
service. Thereaer a time will come when spending a
mountain of gold in this cause will not equal in merit
the spending of onepaisa now. This is the blessed time inwhich he who has been sent by God and whose advent
had been awaited by the nations through centuries is
present among you, and every day God is granting
fresh revelations which are full of fresh glad tidings.
It has been made clear throughout by God Almighty
that only he alone will be considered as having truly
and denitely joined this Jam`at who spends his
property, which he holds dear, in this cause. Do not
imagine that you gain your wealth by your own eorts.
It is instead bestowed upon you by God Almighty, nor
should you ever imagine that by spending a portion
of your wealth or by serving in some other way,
you put God Almighty or the one He has sent under
any obligation. In fact, it is He Who puts you under
obligations by calling you to serve Him. I tell you truly
that if all of you should desert me and should hold back
from service and help, He will create another people
who will render Him the needed services. Be sure that
all this is from heaven and your service is for your own
good, so let no pride enter your heart, nor should you
imagine that you are helping nancially or otherwise. I
tell you again and again that God is in no need of your
service, and it is His grace upon you that He provides
you with the opportunity to serve. A few days ago, I
received a revelation in Gurdaspur, in which God says:
I alone am the Accomplisher of every task, so take Mealone as the Accomplisher, and do not consider others
to be helping your cause in any way.
When I received this revelation, my heart trembled
with the realization that my Jam`at had not yet arrived
at a stage where God Almighty should have even
mentioned them. I have no greater anxiety than that
I should die and leave this Jam`at in such a state of
inadequacy and imperfection. I know for certain that
miserliness and faith cannot coexist in a heartI will
not remain long among you and the time is coming
when you will not see me anymore. Many will wishthat they had performed some valuable service in my
presence. Now is the time to provide against such a
possibility. Just as previous Prophets and Messengersas
did not dwell forever among their followers, I too shall
not remain among you, so value the time you have. Even
if you perform such service for which you have to sell
all your xed property, it would be disrespectful of you
to imagine that you have performed any service. You
are not aware how Divine Mercy is eager in support of
this faith, and how His angels are descending upon the
hearts. Every maer of reason and understanding that
arises in your hearts is not from yourselves but from
God. Wonderful light and knowledge is descending
from heaven. I admonish you repeatedly to serve
to the utmost limit of your capacities, but let not a
thought pass through your minds that you have done
something. If you ever think so, you will be ruined. All
such thoughts are disrespectful. A disrespectful one is
ruined much quicker than anyone else.

Guidancefrom Hadrat Khalfatul Masih Vaa
4 Guidance from Hadrat Khalfatul Mash Vaa
Hudhr delivered a Friday Sermon
on the phenomenon of satanicforces and Gods chosen people, His
Prophets helped by hosts of angels.
Hudhr recited verses 72 75 of
Surah Sad, the translation reads:
When thy Lord said to the angels,
I am about to create man from clay,
And so when I have fashioned him
in perfection, and have breathed into
him of My Spirit, fall ye down in
submission to him. So the angels
submied, all of them together. ButIbls did not. He behaved proudly,
and was of those who disbelieved.
Hudhr said that from the beginning
of time, Satan and man have been
contending with each other. In
religious account, Gods love for
Adamas caused Satan to declare
war with him with much ferocity.
This enmity was repeated in the era
of each Prophet of God and indeedis still being repeated. Prophets of
God guide to ways leading to God
and Satan has always tried to spoil
this process and continues to do so.
He frightens and misleads people
with all manner of pretext, greed
and terror. The Holy Qurn cites in
many places that from the creation
of Adamas, Satan started using
ploys. From Srah Al Ftiha toSrah An Ns, God has mentioned
Satan to alert believers from his
aacks, and God has commanded
to protect ourselves from him
through prayer.
The aforementioned verses declare
the creation of Gods beloved
and His command to angels to
completely submit to man and the
arrogance of Satan in declining
to submit to one who was, in his
view, created from lesser maer.
When God created man, He put the
capacity in him to imbue Divine
qualities and thus aain nearness
to God, and go on to aain a high
point in this nearness where angels
would be commissioned to serve
him. God sends His Prophets who
aain the greatest nearness to Him
and as a result, the entire system ofangels arises to help and support
them. Gods special decree comes
into action for this purpose. God
created man as the most eminent of
all creation and pressed the entire
creation in his service. When man is
granted prophethood, he becomes
the Adam of his age. Imagine the
support and succor he would
receive in such instance.During the time of the Holy
Prophetsa, he and the believers
were bierly persecuted and
the pagans of Mecca marshaled
aggression in order to eliminate
Islam. In the Bale of Badr, it was
Gods angels whose helped turn
the tide in favour of the Muslims.
There are several other instances
from the time of the Holy Prophetsa,
which illustrate that an army of
angels was always with him and
the believers. Indeed, the Muslims
lost their lives and suered from
loss of property, etc. However; the
mob of Ibls (Satan) could never
achieve their objective. Those who
follow Satan try their utmost to
create doubts and suspicions in
peoples hearts through murder
and mayhem, nancial loss, bothovertly and covertly puing terror
in peoples hearts. Opponents of
good fall into the control of Satan
because of their arrogance. Their
argument is that those who claim
prophethood and who call to God
are in fact poor and lowly and it is
them who are knowledgeable and

conversant, how could they then
take their baiat? Hudhr said it is
again arrogance of those who do
not accept the Imam of the age that
is preventing them from accepting
him.
When God commanded angels
to prostrate to man, it was nota literal command for only God
is worthy of prostration. This
command meant that one who is
commissioned by God should be
perfectly obeyed and Satan should
not be allowed to succeed in his
objectives against him. It meant
that the Prophet should be helped
in making Satan unsuccessful and
an awareness of the
message of the Prophet
and Gods help and
succor for him should
be inspired in pious-
natured people so that
they may recognize
the truth and join the
community of the
Prophet. These people
would then go through
spiritual enhancementand experience Gods
help and succor. As
a result, their life on
this earth and their Hereaer is
accomplished and they become the
recipients of Gods Paradise. The
hearts of pious-natured people are
enthused and this is when angels
declare, So the angels submied,
all of them together
Meanwhile the work of a Prophet is
blessed in extraordinary ways and
one can observe the submission
of pious-natured people and it is
this obedience and submission
that is the prostration to carry
the mission of the Prophet further.
By becoming the most excellent
helpers, the believers take his work
forward.
Hudhr said that in this age, it
is the true and ardent devotee of
the Holy Prophetsa, the Promised
Messiahas, who has been addressed
as Adam by God. The Promised
Messiahas said that to aront
one commissioned by God is toaront God. Hudhr said today
those who oppose the community
of the Promised Messiahas are in
fact contending with God. It was
revealed to the Promised Messiahas,
I determined on the appointment
of a Vicegerent and so created
Adam, the Vicegerent of Allh the
Sultan (Tadhkirah pg.369).
Hudhr said our Khilfat is
spiritual rather than temporal
and this status was granted to the
Promised Messiahasbecause of his
subservience to the Holy Prophetsa.
Having granted the status, God
commanded angels to submit to
him, that is, submit to the specialhuman who had been chosen
for faith. In another revelation,
God thus assured the Promised
Messiahas, I shall stand with My
Messenger and angels will help
him (Tadhkirah pg. 453).
Hudhr explained that this help of
God is not a tale of yore. We witness
to this day that Satan is at work and
so are the angels. Our opponents
oppress us with their persecution
in one place and the community
grows in many new places.
Hudhr said that he read inAl Fazl
recently how Hilm Shaf` sahib
accepted Ahmadyyat and howGod inclined him. Mustapha Thbit
sahib, who was an Ahmadi, lived
worked in the Sana desert with
Hilm Shaf` sahib. Hilm Shaf`
sahib observed the then young man
as dierent from the rest and regular
in Salt. Gradually, they became
friends and while discussing
Islam, Thbit sahib would present
reasoning and argument to which
neither Hilm Shaf` sahib had
the answers to nor could his
religious leaders help with. When
they parted way, Hilm Shaf`
sahib kept some of Thbit sahibs
books, including the Five Volume
Commentary of the Holy Qurn.
Having read the books, he would,
as is the way of people outside our
community, try and nd objections
within. Hudhr said that these days
it seems to be a trend in Pakistan
to look for objections in our books
where it clearly demonstrates that
the objection is actually borne
help of God is not a tale of yore. We witness
to this day that Satan is at work and so are the
angels. Our opponents oppress us with their
persecution in one place and the community
grows in many new places.

out of the lack of knowledge of the
objector. So, Hilm Shaf` sahib too
would try and nd fault and when
he sought assurance from religious
scholars, he could not get any.
When he read the book Philosophy of
the Teachings of Islam, it excited him.
He showed the book to his father
and asked what sort of a person
could have wrien it. His father
said, certainly a waliAllh (friend
of God). Hilm Shaf` sahib asked
his father what if such a person
is claiming to be the Messiah. His
father replied he could not object
to him, only one very close to God
could have wrien it. However, he
added he was old and could not
accept him. Hilm Shaf` sahibs
heart changed and he accepted the
truth and took baiat.
Hudhr said such incidents take
place even now. Many people are
given the message of Ahmadyyat
through dreams. All this is the
commotion created by angels
in help of one commissioned by
God which leads pious-natured
people turn to the truth. On the
other hand, those who follow
Satan exceed in their opposition
and create impediments backed by
arrogance. It is their arrogance that
persuades them to rebellion and
to follow Satan. However, Gods
people try and become a reection
of Divine aributes and enhance
their spirituality.
The Promised Messiahas said that
arrogance is an evil that does not
give up chasing man. He saidarrogance comes from Satan and
unless one distances from Satan,
one cannot accept the message
of truth and cannot avail Divine
benecence. Unless and until man
puries himself of conceit, he
cannot win Gods pleasure. It was
conceit that led Satan to imagine
that he was superior to Adam and
was thus Satan was cursed by
God. However, when one aains
Divine knowledge, one comes into
the guardianship of God. Hudhr
explained that the Promised
Messiahas said that his opponents
may prostrate in his opposition,
make cursing prostrations in the
process and rub their noses to the
ground, their noses would rot but
no loss would come to the Promised
Messiahas.
Hudhr said news has come
today, many must have heard
it and seen it on TV, that severe
aacks have been made on two
[of our] mosques in Lahore, one in
Model Town and the other Darul
Zikr. Similarly, rallies have taken
place in Kunri. Likewise, in other
places in the world, in various
countries, opposition is carried out
by following the mullah. Can this
opposition nish Ahmadyyat?
Did Ahmadyyat ever come to an
end aer earlier opposition? Most
certainly not, and it never will. Of
course, it will denitely make those
who oppose us the target of Gods
chastisement and reprove.
Advising us, the Promised
Messiahas said that prayer is
such that when Adam and Satan
contended with each
other, no other scheme
availed but prayer. In
the laer days, again,
triumph will come
about through prayer.
The rst Adam was
triumphant through
prayers and the second
Adam too, who will
ght Satan in the
laer days, will betriumphant in this way.
Hudhr said enmity
against us is increasing greatly.
There is tremendous need for
us to turn to prayer. Indeed, our
community is also progressing
and growing in spite of Satan
waylaying at every corner. Pious-
natured people continue to enter
the community.Hudhr said we need to pay
aention to the Qurnic prayer,
Our Lord, we have wronged
ourselves; and if Thou forgive us
not and have not mercy on us, we
shall surely be of the lost(7:24) to
gather blessings and for protection
against satanic aacks, both on an

individual and communal level.
The Promised Messiahassaid that in
His wisdom, God made Adam with
two connections. One connection
was with God Himself, And so
when I have fashioned him in
perfection, and have breathed into
him of My Spirit(38:73). This verse
proves that by breathing His Spirit
in Adam, God created a connection
with him so that mankind too
could have that connection. On the
other hand, He created a natural
connection in man with the rest
of mankind. Hudhr said it is
our responsibility to develop this
connection. If this connection of
ours is correct, the nature of Adamwill become a part of our nature.
We will be drawn to pay the dues of
mankind and will take the mission
of the Promised Messiahasforward.
Hudhr said the situation regarding
the aacks at the mosques in Lahore
is not quite clear yet, however, there
have been many martyrdoms and
many have been injured, some of
whom are in critical condition. The
situation in Darul Zikr is not clear
yet. The number of martyrdoms
could increase as people had come
there for Jum`a. We will know more
when more details come. May
God elevate the stations of all themartyrs. Pray for the injured, some
are critically wounded. This was
an aim by the opponents to inict
communal loss. Certainly, God
has the power to retaliate, through
which source will He demonstrate
His decree, how will He seize those
who create disorder and persecute,
He alone knows. However, may
He make those a cautionary sign, who challenge Gods sense of
honour again and again and are
exceeding all limits in oppression
and InshaAllah this will come to
pass.
Hudhr reiterated that Ahmads
should enhance compassion in
their prayers. May God demolish
the arrogance and conceit of our
opponents and their presumption
of power by demonstrating a
manifestation of His Power. May
we ever increase in our faith and
belief and may this trial never
become a cause of weakness for
us. All Ahmads should pray forPakistani Ahmads these days.
The circumstances there are most
adverse. Similarly, pray for the
Ahmads who are imprisoned in
Egypt, may God facilitate their
speedy release. In Kerala, India,
some Ahmads have also been
wrongly imprisoned; remember
them in your prayers. In accordance
with His promise, God will neverlet the sacrices of those who are
imprisoned and the injured and the
martyrs go to waste, InshaAllh.
Satan and his mob will never be
successful. May God have mercy on
us and keep us safe from every trial
in the future.
Promised Messiahas said that
his opponents may prostrate
in his opposition, make cursing
prostrations in the process and
rub their noses to the ground,
their noses would rot but no
loss would come to the Promised
Messiahas.

8 Inferiority Complex is a Highly Fatal Feeling
Narrated by Hadrat Ab Hurairahra
So Said the Prophetsaof Allh:
When a man declares about
certain people that they are
doomed, it is he who consigns
them to the doom. (Muslim).
Explanatory Note
This Hadth is based on a great
psychological fact which is
described in modern terminology as
inferiority complex or the defeatist
mentality. The Holy Prophetsasays
that aempt should be made to
raise the morale of the people by
creating in them hope and faith
and self-reliance and self-respect,
instead of dragging them down the
pit of degradation through despair,
frustration, an inferiority complex
and a defeatist mentality. Whosowails loud over the minor errors
and unimportant drawbacks of the
people, and moans that they are
nished and doomed, he himself,
through such observations, creates
in them despair and an inferiority
complex and thus opens the way to
their doom. The Holy Prophetsahas,
therefore, in profound wisdom,
enjoined that while people may be
suitably reprimande for their errors
as a reformative measure, crying
over each lile mistake and wailing
that they have neared the brink ofruin is tantamount to consigning
them, with ones own hands, to
doom and that every reformer
should beware of this course.
The aitude of our Chiefsa
exemplies this wisdom. Once
upon a time, a party dispatched by
himsaran back from the baleeld
to Medina. The thought of turning
ones back to the enemy in thebale is unlawful in Islm made
the group so deeply distraught
and overwhelmed with a sense of
shame, that they would not come
before the Holy Prophetsa. When
he saw them cowering in a corner
of the mosque, hiding their faces,
he went over to them in person
and called out to enquire who they
were. Shamefacedly, with eyes
downcast, they said, O Prophet of
Allh, we are the runaway party.
( )
Sensing in them the feeling of self-
defeatism, the Holy Prophetsa told
them that they were not runaways,
but that they had retreated only
to aack the enemy harder, and
had come over to him, and that
he was about to lead them back to
the bale. When this soul-stirring
call of the Holy Prophetsa reached
the ears of the group, they sprang
forward in one bound and fell tokissing his hands. This was the
lesson that our Mastersa gave his
companions practically, which he
imparted theoretically through this
hadth. O Lord, shower peace and
blessings on Muhammadsa.
The word occurring in this
Hadth (meaning he destroyed
them) is susceptible of another
meaning (he is personally the mostruined). Aer a slight variation in
vowels it becomes . With this
other meaning, the Hadth also
carries an important meaning. It
means that one who declares others
as doomed, whether others are
doomed or not, is in reality doomed
himself.

9Objectives, Purposes & Blessings of Jalsa Slna
Purpose of Jalsa Slna
The primary purpose of this Convention is to enable every sincere individual to personally experiencereligious benets. They may enhance their knowledge and due to their being blessed and enabled byAllh, The Exalted, their perception [of Allh] may progress. Among its secondary benets is that thiscongregational meeting together promotes mutual introduction among all brothers, and it strengthensthe fraternal ties within this Community.
(Ishtihr 7 Dec. 1892, Majmah Ishtihart Vol. I, Page 340)
Not an Ordinary Convention
It is essential for all those who can aord to undertake the journey, that they must come to aend thisConvention, which embodies many blessed objectives. They should disregard minor inconveniencesin the cause of Allh and His Prophetsa. Allh yields reward to the sincere persons at every step oftheir way, and no labour and hardship undertaken in His way, ever goes to waste. I re-emphasize thatyou must not rank this convention in the same league as other, ordinary, human assemblies. This is a
phenomenon that is based purely on the Divine Help, for the propagation of Islam.
(Ishtihr 7 Dec. 1892, Majmah Ishtihart Vol. I, pg. 341)
Prayer
I conclude with a prayer for everyone who travels for [aending] this Convention for the sake of Allh:May Allh, the exalted, be with him, reward him in abundant measure, have mercy on him, ease upfor him his circumstances of hardship and anxiety and eliminate his anguish and grief. May He granthim freedom from every single hardship and lay open for him the ways of [achieving] his cherishedgoals, and raise him up, on the day of Judgment, among those of His servants who are the recipients of
His blessings and mercy. May He be their Guardian in their absence until aer their journey comes toan end. O Allh! O Sublime One and bestower of bounties, the ever merciful and One who resolves allproblems, do grant all these prayers, and grant us victory over our opponents with scintillating signs, because You alone have all the prowess and power. Amn! Amn!

the opening of Calgary Mosque was replayed, in which
he spoke of how peaceful the AhmadyyaAhmadyya

presentation on six Articles of Faith to the group. This
presentation covered the six Articles of Faith in a simple
way, in order for the children to understand. Following
the presentation, Moeez Ahmed Sahib performed the
Muslim call for prayers (Adhn) in a beautiful melody.
While Moeez Ahmed Sahib was performing the
Adhn, the English translation of the Adhn was being
displayed simultaneously on the screen for the guests.
Following the presentations was a question & answer
session, in which various questions were asked by the
coaches and the scouts to which Hussein Kazak Sahib
(Murabbi Silsala) responded well. Once the question
& answer session nished, the group was shown the
Islmic artifacts display. This display consisted of
various Muslim prayer mats, boys prayer caps and
girls scarves, and was demonstrated to the scouts

14 Serving Humanity - Blood Drive
By the grace of Allah our GTA blood drive on May
2nd was a resounding success. Approximately 142
donors participated in the event. The target of 110
units was exceeded and the total donation collected
was 115 units, Alhamdolillah. On behalf of the AMYA
organizing team and the Canadian Blood Services, I
would like to convey the heartfelt congratulations to
all those involved.
As always, the cooperation and participation of all
auxiliaries, Jamia Ahmadiyya and our non-Ahmadi
neighbors was exemplary. The Canadian Blood
Services sta couldnt nd the words to express their
amazement and gratitude towards the members of the
Ahmadiyya community who donated so generously
and made the event a success. The sentiments of the
Canadian Blood Services organizers are that this blood
drive (held twice a year) has gained a unique reputationamongst all major blood drives across GTA. This is due
to the fact that such a high collection target is set at the
beginning of the blood drive, yet the members of this
community have continuously excelled and surpassed
the target. This has quickly become one of the premier
blood donor camps across GTA and it is a source of
honor for the Canadian Blood Services to be a part of it.

16 Ask Islam - Question & Answer Sessions of Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh
1. What is the dierencebetween Satan and Ibls?
Satan and Ibls as I understand
them are, though related to each
other very deeply, but have therelationship of principle and
manifestation, mutual relationship.
The fact is that according to a
tradition of Hadhrat Muhammad
Mustafasa, Satan runs in everybodys
blood. He is in the blood stream
of every human being. So, Nafse-
ammara is essentially the Satan.
Your inclination to do evil which
is in every human being, that isSatan. If somebody becomes the
manifestation of Satan, the whole
being is overpowered with his will
to do evil, and if this happens at the
time of a prophet, then he becomes a
symbol of hostility to that prophet;
a symbol of rebellion and deance.
That symbol is called Ibls, and he
appears in dierent forms and at
dierent times. Adams Ibls was
dierent, and Hadhrat MuhammadMustafasas Ibls was dierent, and
Moses Ibls was dierent, in names
of course, in characters and things,
but there is a fundamental and most
unfortunate quality of rebellion
and deance.
2. Why was it considered asin for Iblis not to bow to
Adam, as the angels werecommanded to do, since hewas not an angel?
The word in Arabic is used
to cover not only people belongingto one species but also things or
animals belonging to dierent
species. For instance, it says
All the
people came, except
the donkey. So donkey does not
belong to the human beings. Yet
the word makes an exception
for the donkey while it shouldnt
be covered by the word people. So this is the Arabic way of saying
things. So although ibls was not of
the angels, yet when the order was
given to the angels, he was below
them. And as I have mentioned
the Arabic idiom, a higher species
is mentioned sometimes which
covers all the species below. The
exception does not mean that the
lower species, which is covered by
that order, is of the higher species.
3. How was Iblis able todisobey God even thoughGod could control hisactions?
The point is, that this was the issue
at point. The fact that previously,
before the creation of a being,
who had the option to believe or
not to believe, to choose his path,
whatever was created had no option
before that. They kept on praising
God day and night and they obeyed
him immaculately and perfectly. So
that was the state of aairs. But in
such a state of aairs where there
is no choice to go wrong, and yet
they are doing something out of
compulsion, although there is a
sort of beauty but no charm really.
Because, if you have given a choice,
to perform a thing and then you
perform a thing, that is something
dierent from if you are not givena choice. So what is drudgery and
what is service? Have you not
observed a dierence between the
two?
That if a people conquer another
people, and subjugate them to
drudgery, to a sort of forced labor,
does that have the same quality of
excellence as a people, for instance,
going into war, and oeringeverything they have, not because
of compulsion, but because they
want to serve the cause of their
people. Is there no dierence
between the quality of the two?
There is. So, previously it was a
sort of drudgery. Though not in
exactly the same way, but as far as
the compulsion went, it was a sort
-

17Ask Islam - Question & Answer Sessions of Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh
of drudgery. They had no choice!
The quality of their service to
God, could not be compared to the
quality of service to God, our being
which was given option either to
praise God or turn against Him. So
that phenomenon, which you are
referring to, is just the beginning
of this. That question answer, the
dialogue is the unfolding of this
phenomenon. The charge had to be
given otherwise you would not be
here, I would not be here.
4. Do the Quranic storiesabout the Angels, Iblis andSatan help to expound upon
the qualities of Man?Yes, I agree. By way of illustration,
but also it is personied
occasionally. It does not remain
just a philosophy, or a theory or an
innate power of man
but sometimes in this
symbolization also is
personied. On this
I have spoken earlier.
For instance, the will
or permission given
to man to go wrong
requires a will to go
wrong in the rst
place. And permission
given to him to do
good also requires a
prerequisite, our will
to do good. These
two qualities of going
wrong and doinggood had to be gied to man before
this option is given to him. This
quality of going wrong, or desire
to do wrong, that quality is Satanic.
And that quality is in every man.
Now, there are possibilities.
Number one, that this is Satan
and that is all and there is no
personication of Satan as such.
There is another possibility that
like the system of the angels, who
control goodness, there may be
some evil forces created by Allah
of which we dont know directly
but which are responsible for
promoting all the forces of evil
within man and controlling them.
Im just discussing the possibilities,
but one thing is certain that the will
in man to do wrong is declared as
Satan by Hadhrat Muhammadsa.
He said, positively declared that
every man is born with a Satan. He
has his own Satan which runs in his
blood. One of the persons present
asked him, O Prophet of God, do
you also have a Satan of yourself? He said, yes. But he has accepted
Islam. That is, he has submied
to my beer will. In that sense, it
becomes symbolization.
5. What is the nature of jinnas mentioned in the Quran?
The fact is that the jinn have been
spoken of in the Holy Quran
and also have been explained,
dierently at dierent places, not in
the same manner. Some jinn are of
dierent nature from others. Some
jinn are of such physical nature that
they can be held in bondage under
physical chains. Like the jinn of
Hadhrat Sulemanas and Hadhrat
Daudas. And they are spoken of
as made of re as well in the Holy
Quran and also as such that they
can dive deep into sea and bring
out stones and precious gems. So
they are not the same jinn, those
made of re could not dive into the
sea and come out alive.
Those made of spirits, without any
physical form, could not be held
in chains. Because jinn can walk
through walls and whatever they
are made of. So how would they
be held in chains while the Holy
Quran tells us, The jinn of Hadhrat
Suleman were bound in chains,
so that shows that the Holy Quran
tells us of various jinns. Every time
it speaks of jinns,
it also has very
intricate references
from which you
can infer if you
want to, the natureof those jinns. The
Arabic language
also speaks very
widely of various
types of jinns.
The fundamental
character of the
word jinn as
understood from the
Arabic dictionary is
something which hides you, which
escapes your sight.
According to the Arabic language,
all such people who live in
mountains, who generally escape
the sight and knowledge of people
living ordinarily in the plains, they
are also called jinns. Such people
were called big people who
-
8/12/2019 Ahmadiyya Gazette June 2010
20/20
generally avoid contact with the
commoners and the masses, they
are also called jinns. Even women
are called jinns, those who observe
purdah of course. Not the ladies
here generally speaking, because
the jinn, the character of the word
jinn is missing here.. If you keep
aloof, away from common sight
or common touch, then you can be
called a jinn. Snakes are also called
jinns. Those who hide from people
and the sight of animals as well and
live underground, they are called
jinn. Also according to Prophet
Muhammadsa, the bacteria called
jinn also avoid sight.
That can be proved positively,
categorically according to a
tradition of Prophet Muhammadsa
where he mentions that although
normally it is said that you should
have used other dry objects for
cleaning yourself, if you do not
have water aer you have gone for
stools, but you should avoid use
of bones. You can use stones or
earth or other dry objects to clean
yourself if you do not have waterlike you use here paper. But he said
you should not use bones for this
purpose because that is the diet
of jinns. Its fantastic, absolutely
abbergasting how could Prophet
Muhammadsa conceive of bacteria
at that time. Allah must have told
him that there is some harmful
creature aached to this which
you dont see. Because he didnt
see it, and he knew Arabic beer
than anybody else, so he used the
one common word of jinn for that
creature. Now we know what he
meant but Sahaba, even if they
didnt know, they followed him and
beneted from that obedience. So
they stopped using bones because if
they used it for cleaning themselves,
they may do harm and detriment.
This is the jinn as we understand
from the Holy Quran. But I have no
objection to any jinn of any form.
Most welcome! But I am not called
upon by the Holy Quran to believe
in them. Iman Billah is a must;
Iman Bil-kutub, i.e., the books is a
must; belief on prophets is a must;
belief in the Day of Judgment and
angels is a must. But nowhere is the
Holy Quran is there that a belief in
the jinn is a must. Let them be or let
them not be, I dont know.
Of angels we positively know
that they have independent
entities, because belief in angelsis a must but belief in Satan is not
a must. In fact, denial of satan is
a must. Yakfuru bitaghoot is a
fundamental condition of iman.
So, in that sense, not even remotely,
you are expected to believe in the
person of a Satan. But in the forces,
the satanic forces, you must believe
and ght against them.
