COASTAL WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD (CWDB). The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 authorizes the Board to collaborate across systems in an effort to better address the employment and skills needs of current employees, jobseekers and employers. The focus is to provide education or training opportunities that will assist regional workers in achieving a family sustaining wage while providing employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the workforce. The composition of the CWDB is made up of federally mandated partners, businesses, local educational agencies, and community-based organizations with demonstrated experience and expertise in addressing the needs and skills gap of individuals with barriers to employment. Appointments to the Local Workforce Development Board (LWDB) are made by the Consortium of Local Elected Officials within Region 12, which includes ten-counties: Bryan, Glynn, Chatham, Long, Bulloch, Camden, Effingham, Liberty, McIntosh and Screven.
