Methods of fighting

against violence

presented in films

”I walked away from Africa with nothing.

No brother, no family, no lover, nothing...

Just a belief that words and compassion are

the better way. Even if it's slower than a

gun.”

Silvia Broome

„The Interpreter”

Mahatma Gandhi, who

led the nonviolent

resistance movement

against British colonial

rule in India during the

first half of the 20th

century.

After Erik Ponti takes participation in

fight, he is expelled from school. He has to

improve his marks and change his violent

lifestyle in the new private school.

„Schoolmate upbringing” system is applied

there. Elder students „keep discipline” in

school by hitting youngers with sharp

tools, ordering humilitating

activities, frightening, ashaming nicknames.

They are preferential and unpunished. Erik

quickly becomes their main target.

Problem:

Younger students are bullied by

unpunished elders

Method of solution:

Erik refuses doing humilitating

orders, he never uses phisical

violency against persecutors

Result:

After the headmaster expelled Erik from the private school, he tells one of persecutors what

does he think about their „schoolmate

upbringing” and calls his familiar barrister

Display of agression in this movie manifests

in psychical violence between the students in

book a lot of facinorous gossips. The book caused

the fight between all students at school. Luckily

one of the teachers initiates the exercise which

helps express anger in a healthy way. Every girl

has to tell classmates about her problems and

admit her mistakes. This method solves the

problem.
