Why the Wiki?

• Confluence or the Wiki, allows you to create, organize and discuss work with your team

• All work is centralized

• Allows for collaboration

Spaces and Pages

• Spaces – Containers for pages and blog posts with related content• Site Spaces – These are areas where you can create content and

collaborate with other users

• Personal Spaces – You, and other wiki users, can create your own personal space. Your space can be kept private, or you can open it up for others to view and edit

• Space Key – a short unique identifier for a space

Permissions

• 3 Permission Levels• Global – Site-wide permissions and are assigned by Confluence

Administrators (AgGateway Staff and select others)

• Space – Set who can view, add, edit and delete content within the space

• Page – allows you to restrict viewing or editing by certain users or groups

• Space Administrator – Usually the person that created the space. Grants permission to who can view, add and delete content within the space• Individual Permissions

• From the sidebar click on SPACE TOOLS>PERMISSIONS>EDIT PERMISSIONS

• Pages• Add-create and edit pages in the space

• Restrict-Apply page level restrictions

• Delete – Delete pages in the space

• Blogs• Add – add and edit blog posts in the space

• Delete – Delete blog posts in the space

• Comments• Add-make comments in the space

• Delete-delete comments in the space

Permissions (continued)

• Attachments• Add- add attachments to pages in the space

• Delete-delete attachments from pages in the space

• Mail• Delete- delete individual mail items

• Space• Export- Export content from the space via the space-level export screens.

Note that this permission doesn't affect the exporting of a single page's content. Anyone who has permission to view the page also has permission to export its content.

• Admin - Administer this space, including granting permissions to other users. This permission can't be granted to anonymous users (users who aren't logged in).

• The Editor – Allows you to enter or change the title on a page, insert content including text, images and links• Page Layout

Configuring the Sidebar

• Click on SPACE TOOLS > CONFIGURE SIDEBAR TO:• Change the Space Name

• Change logo

• Change the way the page hierarchy is displayed

• Child Pages – shows current page and its children in the sidebar

• Page Tree – shows the page tree for the entire space expanded to the current page

• Add shortcut links

• Hide or show page and blog links

Recording Changes and Notifying Watchers• Change Comment – A short description that summarizes the

changes made to a page after editing it

• Watchers of the page can be notified when changes occur to the page

• Administrators can manage watchers of a page

• Users can choose to quit watching a page

• View changes made to a page

• Restore a previous version

• Compare versions

Moving and Reordering Pages

• Change the default location of a new page.

• Move an existing page to a different space.

• Move an existing page to a different parent page within the same space.

• Reorder pages that are children of the same parent.
