INFANT/TODDLER LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE Each year the Leadership Institute brings together directors, managers and family child care providers for training to enhance their leadership skills and demonstrate best practices in infant/toddler programs. The Institute identifies recent initiatives that will impact implementation of state standards to improve the quality of infant/toddler programs in New Jersey. The NJ First Steps Initiative has two predominate goals: 1. To improve the quality of infant/toddler care across the state. 2. To increase the availability of quality early care programs for families with

infants and toddlers, by providing professional development, technical assistance, consultation services, program assessment and resources for both center staff and family child care providers.
