Elder Residence Hall with 150 people capacity at the outskirts of Palafrugell's city, with also a 40 patients Day Hospital and 50 underground parking spaces. Total volume of construction, with almost 10,000sqm, was much higher logically of the existing single-family detached typology, so it was designed not aligned to the streets but as a free volume, allowing plenty of outdoor spaces, but with a controlled size, inside that triangular shaped plot. The concept develops a 2 "L" overlapped wings which contain Hospitality Units, and the glazed areas at the intersection serve as common spaces: living room, nurse station, warehouse, aided bath...This solution minimizes the length of users and staff towards daytime activity areas. It also helps to deal with topography and get two ground floors facing east: medical complementary services access, cafeteria, personnel and west: main access, pedestrian garden. Facades are treated with folded aluminum trays, in an horizontal line, enforced by concrete walls coming from the center and ending in emergency stairs at the top of each wing. The proposal had always in mind keeping a human scale that allow residents to enjoy comfortable and safety spaces.
