    PLAYING CAREER: Was selected by the Twins in the 21st round of the June 1980 draft and by the Orioles in the seventh round of the 1983 draft but did not sign...signed with the Angels after he was selected in the eighth round of the June 1984 draft...prior to the 1987 season had left elbow surgery and was released at the end of spring training...on 11/10/87 was signed by the Mariners as a free agent and pitched for 2 more seasons.

    PERSONAL: Graduated in 1980 from Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California, where he was All-State as a senior...pitched for the University of California at Berkeley, where he was an All-Pac 10 second-team selection 3 times, club MVP in 1983 and team captain as a senior in 1984...still is the school’s all-time leader in innings pitched (374.2, 1981-84)...is enshrined in Cal’s Hall of Fame and in the Marin County Athletic Hall of Fame...is featured in the book Guiding Lights under the chapter “life changing teachers and mentors”...lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with wife Judy and daughter Amber.
