HERO Hero is a person or character who, in the

face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, displays courage or self-sacrifice that is, heroism—for some greater good; a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

For me, Hero is the lead or star of a film or play. He/She was distinguished courage and ability, and admired for brave deeds. Being a hero is selflessly doing the best you can in a time of need. But there are things you can do to prepare yourself to take heroic action when the time is right.

My own example:He was a local hero when he saved the drowning child.

ANTI-HERO

ANTI-HERO The anti-hero is often a reluctant hero who

does not consider himself capable of accomplishing the goal. He might be selfish, addicted, corrupt, sullen, or disaffected. By the end of the journey, he typically transforms into a fuller, happier, or more complete person due to the struggles he endures. In many cases, the anti-hero dies at the end of the story, even while overcoming his faults.

For me, anti-hero often challenges people's willingness to extend themselves beyond comfortable boundaries to see life from a point of view that is perhaps more similar to their own in many ways than the classic hero who is beyond reproach.

My own example: A man assumes that he has the good qualities compare to the great hero. But absolutely, he doesn’t have one.





TRAGIC HERO

TRAGIC HERO The tragic heroes are part of a

longstanding literary concept; these are characters with fatal flaw (like pride, for example) who is doomed to fail in search of their goals despite their best efforts or good intentions.

For me, a tragic hero is a character who commits an action or mistake which eventually leads in a defeat, suffering and downfall.

My own example:He contributed many things but he didn’t make it to on top, and he suffered from his defeat.






CARICATURE

CARICATURE A caricature is a rendered image showing

the features of its subject in a simplified or exaggerated way. Caricatures can be insulting or complimentary and can serve a political purpose or be drawn solely for entertainment.

For me, caricature is an imitation or copy, an art, and acted representation of a person, which exaggerates his characteristic traits for comic effect

My own example: His caricature of the mayor in this morning's paper is the best he's ever drawn.

ANTAGONIST

An antagonist is a character, group of characters, institution, or concept that stands in or represents opposition against which the protagonist must contend. In other words, an antagonist is a person or a group of people who opposes a protagonist.

For me, an antagonist is the one who struggles against or compete with another enemy or opponent.

My own example: She always made evil plans only to beat and make suffer her enemy.






NEMESIS06

NEMESIS

Nemesis is a source of harm or ruin. In Greek Mythology, the goddess of retributive justice and vengeance

For me, a nemesis is an opponent or enemy that is very difficult to defeat.

My own example:Like in the Harry Potter series, Voldemort is Harry's nemesis. Voldemort is constantly attempting to cause Harry's downfall-and essentially, the downfall of the "good" by promoting "evil."






SHAPE-SHIFTER07

SHAPE-SHIFTER

Shape-shifter are human-like creatures that start out human, but later learn how to change their form to look like anyone they want. Due to starting off as humans, shapeshifters can have human urges and vices, such as greed, lust, etc.

For me, shape-shifter is a transformation or a change in appearance as any person living, dead, or fictional.

My own example: Sam kills the shape-shifter with a silver knife. This shifter changes shape without shedding its skin.

CHANGE AGENT

A change agent is a person from inside or outside the organization who helps an organization transform itself by focusing on such matters as organizational effectiveness, improvement, and development.

For me, a change agent is used to encompass phenomena and events which drive change, such as new technologies or change in government policy through to individuals who lead change.

My own example: For example, a spy who secretly investigate in order to help and solve the certain problem.

My own example: Like when Katniss Everdeen kisses Peeta even if she’s committed with other guy.

CONFIDANT

A sidekick is a close companion who is generally regarded as subordinate to the one he accompanies.

For me, sidekick can provide one or multiple functions, such as a counterpoint to the hero, an alternate point of view, or knowledge, skills, or anything else the hero does not have.

My own example: What’s a Batman without Robin? Robin is the one

who always assists and in touch with Batman.

ROMANTIC ANGLE

Mentor is someone who imparts wisdom to and shares knowledge with a less experienced colleague. In the odyssey, it is a loyal adviser of Odysseus entrusted with the care and education of Telemachus.

FOIL

In literature, a foil is a character that shows qualities that are in contrast with the qualities of another character with the objective to highlight the traits of the other character. The term foil, though generally being applied for a contrasting character, may also be used for any comparison that is drawn to portray a difference between two things.

For me, foil is a secondary character who contrasts with the major character to enhance the importance of the major character.

My own example: She’s being insecured and always make comparisons. That’s why she’s not dealing with other people, she think that she’s different from them.






COMIC RELIEF

Comic relief is the inclusion of a humorous character, scene, or witty dialogue in an otherwise serious work, often to relieve tension.

For me, a comic relief is an amusing scene or incident in a serious or tragic setting, as in a play, providing temporary relief from tension or dramatic action.

My own example: The man provides funny and entertaining acts only to

relieve the tension and change the moods of the audience.

EXTRAS

A background actor or extra is a performer in a film, television show, stage, musical, opera or ballet production, who appears in a nonspeaking or nonsinging (silent) capacity, usually in the background

For me ,extras are the additional people or workers hired by the day to play a minor part.

My own example: A minor actor in a crowd scene or busy street without saying anything.

CHORUS

Chorus is a homogeneous, non-individualised group of performers in the plays of classical Greece, who comment with a collective voice on the dramatic action. The chorus consisted of between 12 and 50 players, who variously danced, sang or spoke their lines in unison and sometimes wore masks.

For me, the chorus was a group of actors who described and commented upon the main action of a play with song, dance, and recitation. The chorus performed using several techniques, including singing, dancing, narrating, and acting.

My own example: The students singing the flag anthem in the assembly area.

COMIC RELIEF

A flat character is one that has only the bare minimum of characteristics necessary to play their role in the story.

For me, the flat character are the characters whose the actions do not affect the plot. They maybe mentioned by name, but their personalities are not fully developed.

My own example: In Finding Nemo, Bruce the shark is the flat character. He

is not around very long, and we don’t really understand why he does what he does. His motivations were very simple-when he gets hungry, he tries to eats.






ROUND CHARACTER

ROUND CHARACTER

Round character is a character in fiction whose personality, background, motives, and other features are fully delineated by the author.

For me, round character is very detailed. We understand the motivation of this character(why do they do things) and their personal perspective.

My own example: In Finding Nemo, Marlin is a round character. We

understand the reasons behind his attitudes. We know his past, tragedies, his feelings.

During working in this activity, I’ve learned something new about the characters in a certain play. I’m not particularly familiar in the different types of characters. But because of this, I discovered other details in each type and where the characters really do belong.

I can connect this through my everyday interactions. It reflects to myself the way and how I interact with other people. For example, I am experiencing different struggles in school works, my attitude towards to the person I’m interacting depends on what type of character I was to them.

While watching a live plays or performances, I can used my learnings by analyzing and classifying the type of each characters. I can easily determine who wilI be the protagonist and antagonist. Throught that, I can already give comments, feedbacks and put myself on the story regarding on how they portray their roles.
