We are pleased to have you as our guest at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center for this 45th exposition, which provides a wonderful opportunity to learn about the many exciting advancements in agriculture and related fields to which our faculty and staff are contributing. We hope you will take full advantage by exploring the many exhibits and taking part in the tours, workshops, and other presentations. This is your chance to get a firsthand look at some of the research, extension, and educational programs conducted by your land-grant university with the support of our partners, friends, and stakeholders. We have a wide variety of attractions designed to appeal to virtually everyone, from commercial exhibits and field demonstrations highlighting the latest agricultural technology, to gardening advice, food demonstrations, horse exhibitions, and activities for kids. Be sure to visit the Pasto Agricultural Museum for a look at the history of farming and rural living. And when you need a break for rest and nourishment, check out the nonprofit and commodity-group food vendors ready to serve you a slice of Pennsylvania’s bounty. To help guide your visit, feel free to stop at the information booth near the top of Main Street to get directions or answers to your questions. If there is anything we can do to make your stay more pleasant, our faculty and staff are here to assist. Thanks for coming, and enjoy your day!

Exhibitors and Location
Mapping and Booth Label Reference GuideExhibitors have specific booth numbers assigning them to their location to connect with our interactive map. Click the exhibitor booth from the online map to search for more information about the company. Booth labels identify the building, tent, or area with the first one or two letters coded for the name of a location; see Locations Abbreviation Key (at the right). Indoor exhibits located in the building or tent are numbered from the entrance, beginning with the hundred number indicating rows 1 through 5, with the higher numbered booth typically on the southern side of the exhibit tent or building. Outdoor exhibit booth labels use the first letter or letters to identify if they are located East (E) or West (W) of Main Street or are located on Main Street (M). In addition, outdoor exhibit booth labels use the border streets of Demo Alley (DA) and Harrington Lane (H) as noted on the map. The first one or two numbers identify the street on which they are located, streets 1 through 13. Typically the exhibitor booth space numbers on the north side of street are even and those on the south side are odd numbers.

College of Agricultural Sciences 7
ToursHands-on tours highlight various aspects of agriculture. Get a free ticket and board the bus at the tour registration and loading area at the top of Main Street. There are a limited number of tickets available per tour, so stop by early to reserve your seat. Note: Walking and/or standing is involved once the bus arrives at the tour destination. Face masks must be worn by all persons over the age of 2 yrs. old while riding the tour bus.
Managing Livestock Pastures with Alternative Forages (1.5 hours)
This tour features hands-on activities with cattle on pastures. Producers will leave with an understanding of paddock fencing and watering system components, with in-depth discussion about evaluation of diverse cover crop mixes including rooting structure and soil health indicators. High stock density grazing will be demonstrated with a small herd of Angus cattle, and we’ll talk about the use of alternative forages for pasture production. We’ll also talk about soil health principles for both cropping and livestock operations with various tabletop demos and show how annual forages can be used to renovate a degraded pasture without doing any tillage.
Bus leaves Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Note: No restrooms available; walking/standing involved; accessible from the grounds by walking.
Managing Equine Pastures and Drylots (1.5 hours)
This tour features hands-on activities with horses on pastures. Producers will gain an understanding of improved pasture management for horses, “do’s” and “don’ts” of sacrifice areas, and hear about tools needed to help improve equine operations. We’ll walk through the fields and talk about grass and weed identification, innovative pasture methods, and dry lot design for horses on limited acreage at the demonstration site.
Multifunctional Stream Buffers and Native Grass Field Tour (1 hour)
This tour focuses on the importance of planting and maintaining trees and shrubs to create a multifunctional stream buffer that will improve water quality, wildlife habitat, livestock health, property value, and provide edible or medicinal plants. You will learn about the 3 P’s of tree establishment-Preparation, Planting, and Protection-to increase tree survival and reduce competition from invasive weeds. See demonstration livestock practices such as fencing and stream crossings and learn about financial assistance programs available. See and learn how to plant native grass fields to increase sustainability and help declining pollinators and beneficial insects.
Bus leaves daily at 11:30 a.m. Note: Walking and standing involved. No restrooms available.
Forest Management Tour: Woods and Wildlife (1.5 hours)
Woods provide many values, whether it is for timber, wildlife, or simple enjoyment, but all requires some level of time, commitment, and planning. It seems that every decision and activity raises both new challenges and opportunities. Come explore the Penn State Demonstration Woodlot and gain valuable insights into how woods are managed for timber, wildlife habitat, water quality, and forestry research and demonstration for education. Forestry and wildlife professionals lead the tours and will be on hand to answer your questions and help you find resources to effectively steward Pennsylvania’s woods.
Bus leaves daily at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Note: Walking on trails over uneven terrain/standing involved. No restrooms available.
Habitat Management for Deer and Other Wildlife Tour (1.5 hours)
This tour will focus on management of existing field and forest habitats, as well as food plots. It will include equipment demos and food plot establishment and maintenance tips for use on private or public property. As part of a Quality Deer Management System, the goal is to improve habitat for many wildlife species while producing healthier deer herds, in balance with their natural habitat. Visit habitat demonstration plots and see equipment demos in the woodlot and neighboring fields.
Bus leaves daily at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. with an additional tour Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Note: Walking/standing involved. No restrooms available.
Finishing Crossbred BeefXDairy Cattle Tour (1 hours)
This tour will cover the definition of beefxdairy calves and discuss the current marketplace for those cattle. The tour will include a visual observation of a load of crossbred beef dairy steers being finished at the PA Department of Agriculture’s Livestock Evaluation Center.
Bus leaves Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Note: Walking and standing are involved; restrooms will be available.
