Qualitative Goals of the Reform
• Institutes of Technology in Ethiopia provide comprehensive, practice-oriented and need-driven engineering technology education that contributes to the economic and industrial development of the country.
• Upgrading of the sector and quality assurance• Changing student profile
– 70 % of enrolments in S&T, focus on engineering
Quantitative Goals of the Reform
• Higher Education sector expansion– Increasing the number of HEIs (30)– Increasing the number of students
• Establishment of – 10 Institutes of Technology– 2 new S&T Universities– Transformation of branches to Univ. or IoTs

• Autonomy within Addis Ababa University was granted to EiABC and AAiT
