What is a chinese auction?A Chinese auction is a unique lottery, where, as a bidder, you are not a prospective buyer. Rather, you purchase tickets for specific prizes as your choice. You may enter into a particular prize as many times as you wish, and your chances of winning increase with each ticket you purchase. To order tickets, you may do so by faxing or mailing in the order form located on page 14.

Mesivta Ateres Yaakov (MAY), established in 1987, was named in honor of the Torah giant Rav Yaakov Kamenetzky, זצ”ל. The Mesivta has grown steadily from a dozen students in rented space in Lynbrook to our beautiful new home with over 170 students, enrichment programs, a Yeshiva Gedolah, community learning programs, and more. originally a part of the Yeshiva of south shore, the Mesivta became a financially and administratively independent

institution in 2003.

under the guidance of its Menahel, Rabbi Mordechai Yaffe, Ph.D., the Mesivta has emerged as a leading yeshiva high school in the Five Towns area, famous for achieving excellence in both Limudei Kodesh and Limudei Chol while maintaining its famous warm and caring environment.

MAY serves young men primarily from the Five Towns, Far Rockaway, Queens and Brooklyn communities, and provides substantial scholarship support to ensure that economically disadvantaged families can give their sons the best opportunity to grow in Torah, ruchnius, and academics.

Ateres Yaakov’s Yeshiva Gedolah, under the leadership of the dynamic talmid chochom Rabbi Baruch Fogel, provides young men returning from their years in israel an opportunity to continue their learning at the highest level, in an environment that emphasizes personal attention and growth, while pursuing a college degree.

in its new building at 131 Washington Avenue, Ateres Yaakov has become a growing community institution. its minyan provides a quiet meaningful tefilah for the surrounding community weekdays, shabbasim, and yomim tovim. its beautiful warm bais medrash hosts community and alumni shiurim, as well as walk-in learning, day and night.
