1 Introduction
This document explains how to install SAP BusinessObjects Analytic Package for Afaria. The SAP BusinessObjects Analytic Package is based on the
technology of SAP BusinessObjects XI, Mobile, Web Intelligence, and Explorer. In addition, it leverages data stored in the Afaria database.
This installation guide is focused on how to import and configure the analytic package and will assume that the installer has complete knowledge of how
to install the core products required by the analytic package.
For more information about the SAP BusinessObjects technologies and their interdependencies, see Appendix C: Information Resources.
1.1 What is an Analytic Package?
An Analytic Package is a reference application that brings together the industry expertise of SAP, our customers, and our partners with SAP’s leading
edge technologies to provide you with everything you require to gain insight into and address a specific business challenge quickly and effectively.
An Analytic Package is based on a deep understanding of the metric frameworks that drive trends in your business, the decision workflows that experts
leverage when analyzing and exploring a business challenge, the dashboards and reports necessary to fully visualize and explore the problem domain,
and all of the Technology and best practices necessary to enable your Information Technology team to implement the solution rapidly and cost
effectively.
1.2 What does an Analytic Package Contain?
An Analytic Package contains reporting content (eg. reports, dashboards) built using standard SAP BusinessObjects product suite and can be easily
imported into the core product stack. The reporting content is contained in a BIAR file.
A BIAR file (Business Intelligence Archive file) is a SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise standard archive created by the SAP BusinessObjects Import
Wizard.
1.2.1 Reporting Content Types Inside the BIAR File

2 Overview of SAP BusinessObjects Analytic Package for Afaria
2.1 Afaria
Afaria is a powerful and flexible mobile device management and security solution for an enterprise. With many mobile operating systems and devices
available, Afaria provides enterprise with a single administrative console to centrally manage, secure and deploy mobile data, applications and devices.
Afaria tracks software installation and usage data on PCs, laptops, smartphones, and tablets, and stores the information in a standard relational
database, allowing you to compare software usage against software purchases and license agreements.
2.2 SAP BusinessObjects Analytic Package for Afaria
The SAP BusinessObjects Analytic Package leverages the data stored in Afaria database, and provides a set of analytics for understanding the mobile
device landscape and usage within your enterprise.
The SAP BusinessObjects Analytic Package:
Provides actionable insights for device management and cost control.
Provides foundation for embedded Analytics using SAP BusinessObjects Portfolio.
Enable Afaria Analytics in mobile devices for anytime anywhere access.
The package allows analysis of your mobile landscape and usage in the following areas.

3 Installation of SAP BusinessObjects Analytic Package for Afaria
3.1 High Level Architecture
Shown below is a high-level architecture diagram for SAP BusinessObjects Reporting for Afaria.
Users can access the reporting content for Afaria from SAP BusinessObjects applications on PCs or mobile devices. Users’ PCs or mobile devices will
establish a connection to the SAP BusinessObjects servers, which will connect to the SAP BusinessObjects CMS database and Afaria database.
3.2 Pre-requisites for SAP BusinessObjects Analytics Package for Afaria
Below are the pre-requisites prior to installing SAP BusinessObjects Analytics Package for Afaria onto your BusinessObjects environment.
The following must be installed and working:
o SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI3.1 SP4
o SAP BusinessObjects Mobile XI3.1 SP4
o SAP BusinessObjects Explorer XI3.2 SP3
For details on the installations of these, please see the list of documentation in Appendix A.

3.3 Inside the SAP BusinessObjects Analytics Package
3.3.1 BIAR Files
Included in the SAP BusinessObjects Analytic Package for Afaria are three BIAR files, one for each of the supported Afaria database platforms.
1 BIAR file for iAnywhere SQL Anywhere
1 BIAR file for Microsoft SQL Server
1 BIAR file for Oracle Database
You should choose the BIAR file for your database platform for importing into your BusinessObjects environment.
3.3.2 Contents within each BIAR File
Different analytics have been created for different applications / access method.
5 Information Spaces created for use in SAP BusinessObjects Explorer.
5 Web Intelligence reports created for use in SAP BusinessObjects Mobile
5 Web Intelligence reports and 1 Dashboard created for use in SAP BusinessObjects InfoView.
Appendix B provides a matrix of Afaria reports by SAP BusinessObjects tool.

3.4 Importing the BIAR File
The below are the steps for importing the BIAR file content into your BusinessObjects environment.
1 Save the BIAR file to your BusinessObjects
Enterprise server.
2 From your BusinessObjects server, launch XI3.1
SP4 Import Wizard.
3 The Import Wizard appears. Click Next.

4 Select Business Intelligence Archive Resource
(BIAR) File as source, and enter the location of
BIAR file saved in step (1). Click Next.
5 Enter your destination BusinessObjects details.

6 Select the following check boxes only.
Import corporate categories
Import folders and objects (and its options)
Import Universes
Click Next.
7 Select Update the destination object. In case of
name conflict, rename it. Click Next.

8 De-select all the overwrite options. Click Next.
9 Click Next.

10 Select all Categories.
Select Import all objects that belong to the
selected categories.
Click Next.
11 Select all folders and objects.

12 Select Import the universes and connections
that the selected Web Intelligence and Desktop
Intelligence documents use directly.
Click Next.
13 The Afaria Reporting Universe should be
automatically selected. If not, select this.

14 Select Do not import recipients.
Click Next.
15 Review list of objects to be imported.
When ready to start the import, click Finish.

16 Once the import has completed, review results.
Check all objects have been successfully imported.
Click Done, to close the application.

3.5 Changing Universe Connections
After importing the BIAR file content into your environment, update the Afaria Universe connection to point to your Afaria database.

1 Set up Afaria DSN (Data Source Name). Open
ODBC Administrator by selecting Business
Enterprise -> 32-bit data Source (ODBC)

2. Click System DSN tab and click Add button (a
System DSN is available to all users of the
computer, including Services)
3 In the Create New Data Source window, scroll
down until you find SQL Server ODBC Driver.
Select it and click Finish.

4 Fill in connection information about how to connect
to your Afaria database and choose Next.
-Data Source Name: A unique name here to
identify this data source. For example. Afaria
- Description: A brief description about this data
source. For example. Afaria database
- Server: Host name or IP address of the database
server.
5 Fill in the Authentincation information for the
database server and choose Next.

6 Select the Change the default database checkbox
and change the default database to Afaria .
Choose Next.to proceed to the next screen and
choose Finish.
7 Click Test Data Source button to make sure the
connection information you just entered is correct.

8 Click OK to create the DSN.
9 Screenshot shows that Afaria DSN has been
created. Click OK to close ODBC Administrator.

10 From your BusinessObjects server, launch XI3.1
SP4 Designer.
Login to your BusinessObjects environment.
11 From the menu, select Tools -> Connections.
12 Select the Afaria connection, and click Edit.

13 Update the connection details with the Afaria DSN
that you created for your Afaria database
14 Click Test Connection. Check the connection is
working.
If connection is not working, make sure you have
installed database client for the Afaria database on
the BusinessObjects server, and configured client
connectivity to the Afaria database.
If connection is working, click Next.

16 Click Finish.

3.6 Indexing Explorer Information Spaces
After importing the BIAR file content into your environment, index the Afaria Explorer Information Spaces.
1 Login to Explorer XI 3.1 SP4.
URL : http://<servername>:<port>/polestar.
2 Click on Manage Spaces.
3 Navigate to Universes -> Afaria -> Afaria
Reporting universe.
4 View the lists of Information Spaces and verify that
the Index icon is green for all of the Afaria
Information Spaces.
In the case of an "Index" icon being red, it is
necessary to re-index the
Information Space. You can either click Index Now,
or schedule indexing by selecting Edit next to the

appropriate Information Spaces and then defining a
schedule.
3.7 Provide Rights
Depending on the setup of your existing BusinessObjects security model, you may need to provide rights to your users to access the Afaria analytics.
This is performed through the CMC.

4 De-Installing the Package
To de-install the package, you will need to remove the Afaria content (reports, dashboards, Universe, and connection, categories) within the SAP
BusinessObjects Central Management Console.
1 Login to SAP BusinessObjects Central
Management Console.

2 To remove the reports, navigate to CMC Home ->
Folders.

5 Reporting Contents for Afaria
5.1 Universe
5.1.1 Afaria Reporting Universe
The Afaria Reporting Universe is used by all Web Intelligence reports, Dashboard, and Explorer Information Spaces, in this analytic package, to retrieve
data.
5.1.1.1 Database Tables and Views
The database tables and views used within this Universe are as follows.

5.2.1 Afaria Dashboard
The Afaria Launchpad is a dashboard providing an entry point for all other Afaria Web Intelligence Reports. This dashboard can be access from
Document Lists, or via Corporate Dashboards.
The dashboard provides an overview tab, which links to Afaria Launchpad Web Intelligence report. This tab provides an overview of roaming activity,
devices, and installed applications.
It also provides separate tabs for Activity, Devices, Compliance and Applications. Each of these tabs link to individual Web Intelligence reports.

5.2.2 Afaria Launchpad
The Afaria Launchpad can be accessed from Document List from the InfoView portal. It is a Web Intelligence report, which provides an overview of
roaming activity, devices, and installed applications.

5.2.3 Activity Dashboard
The Activity Dashboard is a Web Intelligence report, providing:
Roaming activity of Devices [Data/Messaging/Voice] - showing the international roaming and no roaming activity (Data, Messaging & Voice) of
devices within a billing period. Billing period defined from the first day to the last day of a month.
Number of devices that exceed the defined activity threshold - thresholds can be maintained for Data/Messaging/Voice in Afaria. This report
provides info on the number of devices that have exceeded the threshold in usage categories (Data, Voice & Messaging) for the current and
previous billing periods.

Number of Devices by Carrier - provides the number of devices by the carriers both in the US and the Rest of the world. IT admin can pursue
appropriate carrier negotiations based on the number of devices using a carrier on a global basis.

International roaming activity of Devices in time This report highlights the internationally roaming devices for the current billing period. Such activity for data, voice & messaging is shown for the following time buckets: Last day, Last 3 days and Last 7 days
Number of devices that exceed the defined activity threshold: Usage thresholds can be maintained for Data/Messaging/Voice in Afaria. For example, if the data plan calls for 4GB/month, a threshold level of 75% or 3GB can be set to proactively monitor and manage overages. This report provides info on the number of devices that have exceeded the threshold in usage categories (Data, Voice & Messaging) for the current and previous billing periods.
Usage by Carrier: There are 3 charts that break down the usage by carrier for the telecom expense categories such as messaging, voice and data. This is helpful for Michael with carrier negotiations based on usage levels. Use the swipe gesture to move from 1 page to another.

Here are the ones that are defined in addition to the ones available in the Devices Explorer report Package Name – Name of the mobile application Enterprise – Refers to the classification of the application as Enterprise app or Personal apps Version Up To Date – Provides info on the version of the applications installed compared with the version on the server.
Status – Refers to the application installation status. The following 3 status are defined. Assigned refers to applications defined in the server, but have not been installed. Installed refers to applications installed in the devices. Uninstalled refers to applications that have been uninstalled from the device.
Status Time – Refers to the installation of the applications on a monthly
time bucket.

5.4.3 Compliance Explorer
There are 7 attributes available for drill-down. Here are the ones that are defined in addition to the ones available in the Devices Explorer report: Last Connect Date Range - Last time the devices connected to Afaria system. If you find any devices that haven’t connected to Afaria in the last 7 or 30 days then something could be wrong – device is stolen, lost, or broken and hence requires further investigation. Passcode Policy – Defines the policy for managing passcodes. A jail broken device could violate the passcode policies set by an administrator. This is applicable to iOS devices only.
Policy Compliance – Compares the policy in the device against the one in the server to identify discrepancies. This is applicable for iOS and Android devices only. Access Control Violation – Afaria has the ability to block access to emails if a particular policy violation is detected. This attribute indicates the devices that are subject to such a violation

The Internation Roaming Explorer – Augmented is an Information Space.
This Information Space highlights the internationally roaming devices
(black phone icon) for the current billing period on a map (leveraging
Augmented Explorer tool) with a drill-down to understand the specific
usage of the device. This is very helpful for an IT admin to manage device
roaming costs which is one of the biggest IT costs for mobile devices.
Further roaming devices that have exceeded the threshold is shown using
a different icon (Red phone icon) in the map.
