Objectives
To comprehend how important a role Line plays in the creative process.
To understand how Line affects a work of art.
To appreciate how Line expresses feelings and emotions.
To recognize how Line can communicate symbolic meanings.
To value how products convey the intended image.
Learning Outcomes
The theme created is an abstract, sophisticated use of diagonal lines.
The use of lines that is used in the layout is diagonal lines. By using the models’
bodies to create the diagonal line, there is an element that conveys energy,
action, movement, and the layout brings a sense of dynamic.
By using the models’ bodies to make diagonal lines, the lines are making implied
lines where we can see the line due do the psychological process that is goes on
in one’s head. Also there is actual lines in this picture due to the outlines of the
pictures and the red diagonal lines in the shapes.
Design Element 1
LINE
Objectives
To recognize how shape and form can communicate symbolic meaning.
To value how products convey the intended shape and form.
To create the intended shape and form to capture an attractive
impression through aesthetic experience.
Learning Outcomes
The theme created was Splashes of Fashion. The theme was inspired
by elements of nature and the human form.
The most widely used form through this page is the natural form.
Highly inspired by the human body and the form of water, these
elements tie together by creating a filled space. The shape used in this
layout is the two diagonal lines under the title and the lines would be
considered a geometric shape.

Objectives
To identify the importance of using the various textures in promoting
one overall image or mood.
To discover new and upcoming texture trends in the fashion industry.
To comprehend how textures convey expressive and symbolic qualities.
To understand the difference between tactile and visual texture.
Outcomes
The trend in the picture for Spring 2010 is all about warrior, military,
and tribal influences for women in their 20’s.
This trend has been successful in the mainstream for this age group
because many consumers are buying items that have some unique
beading, metal, or leather that represent this trend. Such items include
dresses, sandals, purses, and jackets.
The main source of textiles used is leather or a cotton with heavy
beading or metal embellishments. The garments of this trend tend to
look rough, shiny, and sometimes even scratchy with the beading
around the neckline or sleeves. In addition, the garments are considered
a tactile texture because it draws people in wanting to touch it.
However, if shopping online a visual texture can be seen because of the
beading.
The symbolic and expressive qualities represented on this trend board
include power, strength, formality, and coldness.

TEXTURE
Warrior Chic
Objectives
To discern color range, intensity, scheme and composition of a work of
art.
To develop a color palette based on a specific inspirational piece.
To understand the various color relationships.
To understand the emotions tied to various colors.
To identify examples of color relationships in fashion that elicit the
feelings and emotions discussed for each other.
Learning Outcomes
The depicted color relationship is analogous because the colors violet
and aqua in the layout are analogous on the color wheel and the colors
cherry and rose are also analogous on the color wheel.
The inspirational piece is by Jan Stead entitled “Sunset on Water”
which evokes a powerful calmness of comfort.
The new color forecast uses violet, aqua, cherry, and rose.
Each piece in the layout represents the violet and aqua tones. The dress
that Taylor Swift wore to the Grammy’s has a air-like effect as well as
the flower.

Objectives
To recognize how variety can be achieved through contrast of the
design elements.
To recognize how variety can be achieved through contrast of the
design elements.
To comprehend how unity and variety are displayed in apparel.
To create the intended unity and variety to capture and attractive
impression through aesthetic experience.
Learning Outcomes
In the layout, variety is depicted through contrast by having a bright
color picture right beside a black and white picture.
There is variety through a specific theme by having the same colors,
pose of the model, and dress throughout the entire layout.
By using the same color and shapes in a repetitive manner throughout
the picture, there is an element of unity.
When unity and variety are combined in this picture, there is a sense of
repetitiveness but also continuity because the edges of each picture are
lined up.

PROPORTION & SCALE
Objectives
To recognize tat Proportion is the size relationship of parts within a whole.
To recognize that Scale is the size relationship to an outside unit of
measurement.
To comprehend how proportion and scale are displayed in apparel.
To create the intended Proportion and Scale to capture an attractive
impression through aesthetic experience.
Learning Outcomes
The picture of the Birth of Venus by Botticelli represents proportion through
the woman’s fade. Looking at the woman’s face closely, one can see the
Golden Mean represented through the layout.
The scale is measured by the clothing on the bottom right of the layout,
making the scale on human size.
Proportion and scale are displayed in apparel, in this layout, by the human
scale, but also proportionate to human’s ideal of the perfect Golden Mean;
which is 3:5:8 or 5:8:13.
By using the proportions of the artwork, Birth of Venus, the clothing in the
layout follows the same Golden Mean of the painting as well as the same scale.
