Aerospace Application notes

Factor affecting Conductivity Tests. Six basic test condition variables are:

(1) curved surfaces,

(2) edge effect,

(3) material thickness,

(4) aluminum cladding thickness,() liftoff or nonconductive coating thickness and

(!) tem"erature.

(1) curved surfaces

(2) edge effect,

#n edge distance of mm ($.2 in.) or more must be maintained to avoid errors.

(3) material thickness,

%aterial thickness &ill affect test results &hen the de"th of edd' current "enetration is greater

than the material thickness. he edd' currents &ill "enetrate the test obect to an effective

de"th of "enetration 3*.

(4) aluminum cladding thickness,

() liftoff or nonconductive coating thickness and

(!) tem"erature.
