AEP Mechanical Design

• System Consists of Six Circuit Boards, each Surrounded by an Aluminum Frame– Low Voltage Power Converter is on top to conduct heat to thermal radiator

– Power Controller, Data Processing Unit, Instrument Data Controller, Mass Memory, and Data Compression Module follow in order

– Base Plate mounts unit to spacecraft deck

• Electrical Connections made with Stacking Connector on each Board– Avoids need for Mother Board

• Thermal Radiator attaches to feet on top of assembly

• Walls of Frames are .200 inches thick to provide radiation shielding and a heat path to the thermal radiator

• The Stack is held together with 10 Skewer Rods

AEP Mechanical Fabrication Status

• Mechanical Part Drawings are Complete and in Configuration Control

• Assembly Drawings are nearly complete

• All Machined Parts for both ETU and Flight Unit including Frames and Top and Bottom Plates are complete

• Parts have been fit tested and put in Flight Stores

Power System Requirements

• System provides 21 switched and current limited services, each with a voltage and current monitor

• Power on reset circuit detects brown out on primary side

• Filtering and shielding at outputs to reduce converter noise seen by instrument

• Filtering on inputs to protect system against CS-06 EMC test

• Fully redundant DC-DC converters

• Includes Analog Multiplexor and ADC to digitize 128 channels including power system voltages and currents

• ETU Power System Fabrication and Debug is nearly complete

• Flight Unit Mechanical Parts Complete and in Stores

• All EEE Parts in House for Flight Unit Fabrication

• Flight Printed Circuit Boards will be Etched following ETU System Test
