STEP 2: Habitat will contact you to verify any information received.

OUR FOCUS

The Home Repair Program focuses primarily on repair and/or rehab projects that will improve the quality of life for the resident and provide a decent home to live in.

The result is a holistic approach that revitalizes the appearance of the neighborhood, encourages connections within the community, and helps preserve affordable housing stock.

A HAND UP, NOT A HANDOUT!

Habitat for Humanity offers volunteer labor at no cost, and provides an affordable loan to qualified homeowners for the cost of materials.

The homeowner must be able to pay a 0% interest loan for the work done on the home through affordable monthly payments. Payments will be based on applicant’s income and agreed upon at signing of contract.

WHAT WORK CAN WE DO?

Our Home Repair Program focuses on home repair services such as:

• Window/door replacement• Handicap accessibility ramp• Minor exterior repairs to siding & trim• Replacement of steps/handrails for safety• Single story roof & soffit/fascia replacement• Minor electrical and plumbing repairs• Energy efficiency projects/insulation

Habitat also offers free energy assessments.

Projects that do not qualify include:

• Aesthetic (non-critical) home improvements• Beautification projects• Landscaping• Detached garages• Second story roofs, or roofs that possess

a steep pitch• Projects that exceed $5000 in cost of materials

PROJECT COST MAY NOT EXCEED $5000.Qualified homeowners are eligible for a no-interest loan from Habitat for Humanity for the cost of the project, which may not exceed $5000.

AM I ELIGIBLE?

A Brush with Kindness partners with low-income, elderly, veteran and disabled homeowners based on need and scope of the work.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS• Applicant must currently own and occupy

the home that needs the work for at leasttwo (2) years.

• Home served must be in our service areaand be covered by current homeowner’sinsurance.

• Applicant must earn between 30%and 55% of the county’s median incomefor family size. (see our website atwww.hfhwashco.org for incomeguidelines).

• Applicant must be unable to afford thenecessary home repairs and unable tocomplete them due to age, disability orcircumstance.

• The homeowner must be willing to partnerwith Habitat for Humanity by participatingin the project as they are able.

Home OwnershipWe offer simple, affordable housing to low-in-come families in need. Eligibility is based on need, ability to pay, and willingness to partner.
