Red FlagsAvoid foreclosure "rescue" companies that:

Promise to stop your foreclosure and resolve your problems, no matter what;Ask you to pay money before you receive services.

Be very cautious if the "rescuer" tells you:Your foreclosure or default is easy to fix;Not to respond to court papers; To stop making payments to your lender in order to "qualify for a refinance;"Not to talk to your lender, lawyer or credit or housing counselor; To sign paperwork in a hurry, before you have had a chance to read it or run it by a lawyer; To sign over your deed to someone else.
