CAREER CASE
Communication skills – speaking skills:
You can hear the fashionable phrase 'good communication
skills’ widely bandied about these days. The skills, however, are
anything but modest in their practical effects- without them; you
cannot function efficiently, whether as housewife or businessman,
office secretary or club secretary, employee or employer, information
hunter or bargain hunter, colleague or student or friend.Writing and speaking are sometimes compared to another form
of communication- broadcasting. Like a radio transmission, for
example, speaking and writing also have three elements- transmitter,
signal, and receiver- and often suffer from 'interference'. What is it that
distorts the message between transmitter (you) and receiver (your
reader or listener)? It might be inadequate vocabulary or nervous twitching or a noisy street.
Communicate clearly, and you actually start to think more clearly,
and this in turn improves your communication skills still further.
Tips for better English speaking:
Try to experiment with the English you know. Use words and phrases
you know in new situations. Native English speakers are more likely to
correct you if you use the wrong word than if you use the
wrong grammar. Experimenting with vocabulary is a really good way
of getting feedback.
Try to respond to what people say to you. You can often get clues to
what people think by looking at their body language. Respond to themin a natural way.
Try NOT to translate into and from your own language. This takes too
much time and will make you more hesitant.
Don't speak too fast! It's important to use a natural rhythm when
speaking English, but if you speak too fast it will be difficult for people
to understand you.
Try to relax when you speak – you'll find your mouth does most of the
pronunciation work for you. When you speak English at normal speed,
you'll discover that many of the pronunciation skills, such as linking
between words, will happen automatically.
Remember, when speaking English…
Try to become less hesitant and more confident.
Remember to be polite – use "please" and "thank you" if you ask
someone to do something for you.

INDIANNESS ANDHRA PRADESH
Language: Almost 85% of the population in
Andhra Pradesh is Hindu and speak Telugu
but in the northern parts, especially in andaround Hyderabad there is a significantly
large population of Muslims and speak
Urdu and Hindi. While urban Andhra
Pradesh is educated, cosmopolitan andleads the way in conspicuous consumerism,
the rural areas are still remarkably poor.A large part of the population in Andhra has been given special statusunder a program of affirmative action for certain scheduled castes and
tribes. The nomadic Lambadi are the most colourful tribal group,
thought to be originally from the Kutch region in Gujarat.
Religion: Almost 85% of the population is Hindu. There are asignificant number of Muslims in the north, in and around Hyderabad, and many Christians too. There are some Jain and Buddhist people too.
Food: Andhra food is deliciously hot and tangy. The Telugupeople love their side dishes, pickles, crisp poppadums and yoghurt. The dosa, a rice pancake is special in Andhra. Called the pessaratu, it isfilled with a savoury semolina preparation called upma.
Famous all over the world, the aromaticmeat and rice preparation called biryanibelongs to Hyderabad. Muslim food ismainly concerned with succulent meats, sweet spices and ways of putting themtogether in the most delectable fashionthere could be. Fruits, like custardapples, bananas, mangoes and the
locally grown grape.
Culture and Crafts: The crafts of Andhra Pradesh are many. Famous for
its Kalamkari and Nirmal paintings, buffalo hide puppets, Ikat garmentsand the delicate silver filigree of Karimnagar, Andhra is a veritable
treasure
Trove of beautiful crafts fashioned by skilled artisans, Kalamkari takes
its name from the implement of the humble ‘kalam’ i.e. pen. Ikat is aform of weave where dyed threads are patterned into colorful fabrics.
The repertoire of fine fabricsis not limited to Ikat.
Saris woven in Pochampalli,
Dharamavaram, Venkatagiri
and Narayanpet are treasuredpossessions of innumerable
Indian women.The classical dance
form of kuchipudi is native to
a small town near Vijayawada. It incorporates elements of myths and
the Hindu religion and is performed to Telugu music and Sanskrit
chants. Tribal dances, as everywhere else, are filled with grace andrhythm. The most well-known is the dhimsa of the colorful Lambadi
tribe. The Veernatyam captures the energy of an enraged Shiva, theDestroyer God.

HEALTH & TREND
Health is the level of functional or metabolic
efficiency of a living being. In human, it is thegeneral condition of a person’s mind, body and
spirit, usually meaning to be free from illness,
injury or pain (as in “good health or “healthy”).
List of plants used in medicine
o Aloe Vera has traditionally been used to treat burn & wounds.
o Garlic (Allium sativm) may lower the level of total cholesterol
o Grapefruit (Naringenin) components may prevent obesity.
o Honey may reduce cholesterol
.may be useful in the treatment of

FASHION
Fashion Design is the art of the application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and social latitudes and has varied over time
and place. Fashion designers work in a
number of ways in designing clothingand accessories. Some work alone or as
part of a team .They attempt to satisfy
consumer desire for aesthetically
designed clothing; and because of the
time required to bring a garment onto
the market, must at times anticipate changing consumer tastes. Thereare a number of well-known art school and design school design
technology.
Fashion designer attempts to design clothes which are functional as
well as aesthetically pleasing. They must consider who is likely to wear
a garment and the situations in which it will be worn. They have a wide
range and combination of material to work with and a wide range of
colours, patterns and styles to choose from.

SPORTZ
CRICKET: Virat Kohli finishes 2011 as highest ODI run-getter. Kohli
finished the year at the top of ODI charts with 1381 runsat an avg. The young gun started off 2011 with a solid 54
against South Africa in the testing conditions of Durban
and from there on it was no looking back for the
confident right-hander as he banged a brutal 100 not out against
Bangladesh in the World Cup opener to compliment Virender Sehwag’s
maverick innings.
He went on to score 282 runs in the successful
campaign cementing his place in the
world’s best team in style. But the real test awaited
the Delhi brat in England were he showed that he is
not one to turn his back to a challenge producing a gritty 55 in the firstmatch at Chester-Le-Street.
TENNIS: Chennai: World Number 17 and Chennai Open defending
champion Stanislas Wawrinka on Saturday said the
young guns in world tennis are out to spring a lot of
surprises in the 2012 season. He said the race isalways between players ranked five to 20 and this
year players have been moving a lot. "That is nice and is a big challenge
because you know you can be there. Since you find young players
always coming up in tournament after tournament, it is going to be the
same this year or even more. You can see some big surprises this year
the ATP Circuit," he said.
FOOTBALL: FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman said Tuesday that 2010
MLS MVP David Ferreira, out since late April with abroken ankle, likely won’t be available in the
upcoming playoffs. Dallas plays host to the New York
Red Bulls on Wednesday night in a single-elimination
wild-card match.
Liverpool galvanised by super sub Gerrard took just 31 minutes to
inspire a 3-1 win over Newcastle in his team`s final fixture of the year.
GOLF: charl schwartezl and Louis oosthuizen both finished in the top
six at the Dubai world championship after leaving themselves a little
too much to do on the final day. It was a gallant
effort from the chasing pack but alvaro quiros
kept his nerve to win the title in stunningfashion and Luke Donald clinched the race to
Dubai by finished third. Oosthuizen started the
day just shots behind the Spaniard and was in the penultimate group
with Donald. Putt after puff just slid past the hole for the south Africa
who failed to get any momentum going in his final round

PREACHING THOUGHTS
Do not live in imagined future: If you want to be a happier, less-
stressed person, there is no better place to start than with becomingaware of “anticipatory thinking,” or an imagined future.
Essentially, this type of thinking involves imagining how much
better your life will be when certain conditions are met – or how
stressful, or difficult something is going to be at some point down the
road.
Typical anticipatory thinking sounds something like this: “I can’t
wait to get that promotion, and then my life will be great.” “Life will be
so much simpler when I can afford an assistant.” “These next few
years will be really tough, but after that I’ll be having a smooth ride.”
You get so carried away by your own thoughts that you remove
yourself from the actual present moments of your life, thereby
forgetting the act of living effectively and joyfully.
There are other, more short-term forms of this type of thinking
as well: “The next few days are going to be unbearable,” “I am goingto be tired tomorrow,” “I just know my speech is going to be a
disaster.”
There are endless variations of this stressful tendency. The
details are usually different, but the result is the same –stress! Do not
let your thoughts get caught up in the negative expectations andimagined horrors of the future.
Be Responsive: “Responsive” means acting appropriately to the issue
at hand. Rather than being driven and controlled by habitual, knee-jerkreactions, being responsive means having the ability to maintain
perspective and to choose the best possible alternative or course of
action, given your unique situation.
Because responsive people are able to see the entire picture so
well, they are able to factor into every equation all the variables, instead of being limited to their usual way of doing things.
Responsive individuals are willing to change direction, if
necessary, and admit their mistakes when appropriate.
For example, it’s common for a builder to run into unexpectedchanges in the original plans – unknown soil conditions, a shortage of
money, or unforeseen design problems. A reactive builder will panic,
overreact and become difficult to work with. A good builder will take
the changes in stride, be responsive to the changes, rise to the
occasion and get the job done.

INNOVATIVE MINDS
Magnetic Floating Aircrafts: Aircrafts today relies on fuel energy which
is non – renewable form of energy. In order to conserve energy and tooptimize the use of fossil fuels, the earth’s magnetic field can be used
as the driving force of the aircraft, instead of fuel energy.
The earth has a
magnetic field. The aircraft
generates whatever field the
Earth is generating (positive
for positive or negative for
negative) and then the
aircraft floats.
This was tried some
years ago, but the aircraft
was far too unstable and thus, crashed. An electrical generator would
be required to generate the electricity for a big aircraft, to keep it
afloat, since batteries wouldn't last that long. To power the generator,
one could put in a conventional combustion type of engine and have
the pistons turn a crankshaft that drives the generator. In order toreduce the usage of fuels, the phenomena of super magnets can be
applied to generate power.
This idea was initially abandoned because the Earth's magnetic
field changes in many regions. In other words, the field which allows
floating in one region could pull into the Earth in another, which isundesirable.
But modern jetliners and modern fighter planes fly with the help
of computer programs that constantly make slight changes to the flapsand so forth of the aircraft to keep it stable; without this, aircraft like
an F-16 or a jumbo jet would crash.
Imagine an aircraft that instead of the four exhaust outlets has
four large magnetic generators on the bottom. These magnets are
powered by the electric generator which is spinning inside, which is
thus powered by the engine inside, which is running on fuel.
Now a problem arises - what if on one side of the aircraft the
Earth has a positive field, yet on the other side, it has a negative field?
The magnets on each side need to custom match the field, or they will
pull the aircraft down. Each magnet could be like a television screen,
where each magnet is really made up of a huge amount of smaller
magnets (as a television screen is made up of pixels), so that the
magnetic field from each "magnet" could vary.
As the aircraft flies along, the computer can make constant
adjustments to the magnetic fields of these four hover magnets, to
match the Earth's field, so the aircraft stays afloat.
