Dear Sir/Madam,

On behalf of the Dhaka University National Model United Nations Secretariat 2013, I am

delighted to introduce to you this years Model United Nations Conference, held at the

University of Dhaka. The Dhaka University National Model United Nations conference,

or 'DUNMUN', is a four day model united nations conference which invites over 250

students from various universities of the country to practice debate, lobbying and

diplomacy through the simulation of various United Nations committees and regional

bodies. This year, DUNMUN will be holding its 2nd annual session under the theme of

Uphold humanity, Attain Peace- Ensuring human rights: the way to global peace and

prosperity. We think this theme will encourage our participants to engage with the up

and coming problems and potential solutions of the 21st Century, and to embrace the

complexities related to humanity issues of our changing world. This year the event is

going to be much more bigger than the previous one and international participants will

join the event this time.

DUNMUN 2013 is an initiative by Dhaka University Model United Nations Association

(DUMUNA) under the rigorous supervisions of its advisor, Vice Chancellor of the

University of Dhaka, Professor A A M S Arefin Siddique and its moderator, Professor Dr.

Delwar Hossain, Department of International Relations, and University of Dhaka. Last

year 200 university and school students come together in the conferences across the

country to share their passion for international affairs, the art of diplomacy, and the

principles of the United Nations. The form of debating known as Model United Nations

(MUN) is enjoyed by internationally-minded, committed and dynamic university

students. Many of them will go on to become leaders in their respective fields, and will

work in law, business and diplomacy.

MUN -Model UN Nations Conference

Model United Nations (also known as "Model UN" or

simply "MUN") is an educational simulation that

focuses on civics, communications, and multilateral

diplomacy. During a Model United Nations

conference, students take on roles as foreign

diplomats and participate in a simulated session of

an intergovernmental organization (IGO).

Participants research a country, take on a role as a

diplomat, investigate international issues, debate,

deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to

world issues.

Every year, over 200,000 university and school

students come together in conferences across

the globe to share their passion for

international affairs, the art of diplomacy, and

the principles of the United Nations.

Representing countries from Afghanistan to

Zimbabwe, in committees simulating their UN

counterparts, they gather to discuss some of

the most pressing and intriguing problems that

confront the world today and in the future.

Together, they engage in lively debate, and

discuss the problems and their solutions that

face the world we live in.

The Organizer- Dhaka University Model United Nation Association

Dhaka University Model United Nation Association is totally a student based

organization that works for the intellectual and creative development of Dhaka

University students under the concept of United Nations assemblies. It is dedicated to

boost up the students volunteerism, their creative faculties and rational qualities.

It has a dedicated, active and energetic group of students to promote the concept of

Model United Nations and its practice in Bangladesh. It imparts trainings, workshops

and different brainstorming activities for its members to participate in different MUN

Conferences around the world. It also maintains bilateral relations among universities

beyond national borders to keep the students up-to-date with the ideas of international

arena.
