DTC Perspectives Summer 2013 | 29 ADVERTISING A WARDS A dynamic group of pharmaceutical companies and brands were honored at the much-anticipated DTC National Advertising Awards dinner, sponsored by Health Monitor Network. Several hundred DTC Marketing executives joined the celebrations to honor the finalists and learn who would be named the 2013 winners. Further reflecting the advancements in patient communications and support, this year’s Awards expanded, including the new categories of Most Innovative and Best PR Event or Program. In addition, a Brand of the Year was unveiled, which went to Sanofi Pasteur’s Fluzone. Two pharmaceutical companies tied – at four a piece – for earning the highest number of Ad Awards that evening: Genentech (including three Gold awards for Tamiflu’s “Bigger Than” campaign) and Shire (including a Silver for Most Innovative Campaign for Vyvanse’s “You Do the Rest”). Several agencies also won multiple awards – four for Draftfcb Healthcare (two of which were for their work with Auxilium Pharmaceuticals on XIAFLEX) and three awards each went to: Digitas Health (for ADHD & Vyvanse initiatives with Shire), GSW Worldwide (including two for Stryker’s GetAroundKnee), and Healthwork (powered by BBDO & CDMi, for their contributions to Tamiflu’s “Bigger Than”). The DTC National is exciting each year for us as a celebration of the creativity and effectiveness of DTC consumer promotion,” said Ken Freirich, President of Health Monitor Network. “As an entrepreneurial company developing creative solutions to facilitate patient and HCP dialog, we are pleased to sponsor the awards and to recognize the many successes in the marketplace.The DTC National Advertising Awards are designed to recognize the teams that develop insightful and impactful communication programs within regulatory guidelines. For the Best Branded Television and Best Branded Print categories, winners were determined by a combination of votes from an independent expert judging panel and DTC National delegates. The expert judging panel also selected the winners for the remaining categories. This year’s judging panel included: Fred Church, Vice President – Commercial Strategy & Forecasting of Ipsos Healthcare; Deborah Dick- Rath, CEO, Founder of Epic Proportions; Mark Einhorn, Vice President, Advertising and Packaging Research of Market View Research Global; Laura Latshaw,Vice President of Lieberman Research Worldwide; Monique Levy,VP Research of Manhattan Research; Colin Seely, VP, Copy Testing of Ipsos ASI; Jon Swallen, Chief Research Officer of Kantar Media and Fariba Zamaniyan, Senior Vice President of TiVo Research and Analytics (TRA).
