Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar (erstwhile

REC Jalandhar), was established in the year 1987 and attained the status of

National Institute of Technology on October 17, 2002. As National Institute

of Technology, the Institute has a responsibility of providing high quality

technical education in Engineering and Technology to produce competent

technical manpower for the country. The Institute offers B. Tech.

programmes in twelve disciplines of Engineering and Technology along with

the research programmes leading to M. Sc, M. Tech. and Ph. D. degrees. The

Institute has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with many

prestigious institutes such as Ecole Centrale de Lille, France, University of

Johannesburg, South Africa, along with other Universities abroad including

UK, USA and Canada for the mutual academic exchange program and

ABOUT NIT JALANDHAR

(ACBAI-2020)

One-Week Online Short Term Course on

Advances in Chemical, Biochemical and Allied Industries

November 05-09, 2020

The world chemical/biochemical industries are experiencing massive changes

as we enter the 21st century. Commodity chemical manufacture is migrating

increasingly towards developing countries, where labour and raw material

costs are lower. There is a growing demand worldwide that production should

have less impact on the environment and it moves towards long-term

sustainability. From the use of non-renewable resources for fuel and feedstock

(e.g. oil and gas), to the release of pollutants from factories during production,

to disposal of final products that contain hazardous waste, each stage of

lifecycle of a product produced by chemical industry can affect man and the

environment. The material and energy demands of modern society hinge

critically on the viability and progress of chemical and allied industries that

are central to many other sectors.

The idea behind this course is to learn the strategies and methods of

sustainable processes, quantification of waste generation and implementation

and the use of alternate resources. During the last two decades, spectacular

progress has been made to develop eco-friendly, sustainable and green-tech

process and policy in the field of Chemical/Biochemical and allied industries.
