It’s no secret that continuing to work hard and going the extra mile is crucial to AdvancePierre’s future, but it’s also important to take the time to celebrate the wins and be proud to be part of a great organization with such talented people. This week’s installment of Winning & Delivering comes from the Prime Prospect segments highlighted in the last issue of the FOCUS, which were Healthcare and Recreation.

Brian Bauman• The customer is a Minor League baseball team known as the Potomac Nationals, an affiliate of the Washington Nationals.• They converted from a raw burger to an APF 4 oz. The PUB ® Flamebroiled Beef Steak Burger. • The volume will be 30–40 cases a game, with 72 scheduled home games!

Great job, Brian. Way to be a leader!

Rob Nielsen• Hahnemann Hospital is located in Philadelphia, PA, and uses 10 –20 cases of burgers a week. • They switched their 4 oz. raw burger to The PUB Flamebroiled Beef Steak Burger (APF code 15-275, 2.7 oz.)• Sysco Philadelphia was planning to discontinue carrying this APF product, but after receiving this order, they will need to have it stocked at all times. • This is a geat example of execution, as the 2.7 oz. fully cooked burger has the most comparable yield to a raw 4 oz. burger after cooking.

Rob has done a great job training and maintaining his relationships with our distributor partners at Sysco, and this story proves it once again!

Patrick Duggan and David Ritmiller• Patrick and David were recently awarded the burger business at Indiana University Health.• This customer uses 100 cases per week among 18 hospitals. That’s over 50,000 pounds a year! • Patrick and David showed The PUB Flamebroiled Beef Steak Burger CN (APF code 15-327-09, 2.7 oz.), which meets specific health guidelines set up by the USDA, demonstrating that AdvancePierre really is a partner with customers and understands their needs.• Patrick and David were also able to place Kitchen Sensations ® Pork Pot Roast in Natural Juices (APF Code 4108, 2/5 lb. bags) with this customer, which is an additional 20 cases per week.

Awesome teamwork, guys!

Please send all your burger success stories to James Campbell, and see your story published in an issue of the FOCUS. The most we can learn comes from each other.

Follow Up on Catering

• Caterers operate with fewer variables: Head Count = Firm, Menu = Fixed and Staffing = Set.• Caterers aim for 40% gross profit before overhead is factored in, considerably higher than even a busy restaurant.• Restaurateurs compete with traditional caterers—from smaller businesses to multinational corporations such as Aramark or Sodexo.

• Economic conditions of the last several years have prompted many restaurateurs to focus even more on their financials and strategic growth.• Restaurants are now generating four times more catering revenue than retailers such as club stores ($19.3 billion vs. $4.0 billion).• 25% of consumers would consider fast-casual restaurants for at-home catered occasions (compared to only 7% in 2009).
