The JoyBar provides separate controls for steering and speeds, so first-time users are more confident and secure. The combination of power wheelchair maneuverability and scooter style controls creates a more natural rider experience. In the attendant position, the JoyBar provides more stability and greater control without the need of upgraded electronics.

Center mounted drive controls offer better body positioning and alignment directly in the user’s line of sight. The ReJoy platform offers stable midline positioning of a joystick with secure, spring loaded drop-in connections. Center mounting also reduces the likelihood of damage to the drive control from hitting obstacles, a common accident for armrest mounted controls. The pressure relieving gel pads are adjustable by height, width and pitch.

Connecting a battery charger can be difficult for some people. The ReCharge can be used with any power wheelchair or mobility scooter to replace the small, hard to see XLR (3 pin) plug with a large, easy to grasp handle and mast that can be inserted in a socket of the Center Drive System. No more bending and squinting, trying to line up the off-set 3 pin plug. With the ReCharge, simply drop-in the oversized handle and the mobility vehicle’s batteries will start to charge.

The Active Controls Center Drive System has evolved into a viable solution for many rehab applications. The midline drive position inherently offers a superior drive position for many of the most compromised users. In addition, it removes many of the difficulties associated with driving at midline, such as drive control movement, imprecise positioning and difficulty of removal for transfers. Time constraints and transfer difficulties can limit the ability of clinicians and providers alike to thoroughly trial a multitude of drive controls. The Active Controls Center Drive System allows quick drive control changes without transferring the user from the chair. Safer, more efficient evaluations and better outcomes are possible with the Active Controls Center Drive System.

The Active Controls Center Drive System provides an essential tool to supplement any rehab provider’s or clinician’s tool kit.

Expandable electronics allow users to access seat functions, environmental controls and communication devices with their drive control. When mounted at midline, joystick driving is often easier and more intuitive for powerchair users and for some it can facilitate improved posture and positioning. Improved positioning allows custom seating systems to more easily achieve midline sitting position. Many users augment their posture adversely just to access an armrest mounted drive control due to limited upper extremity ROM. The Active Controls Center Drive System facilitates “redeployment” of virtually any expandable joystick in a robust, quick disconnecting midline driving position.

The Stealth Mushroom Joystick offers a unique mechanical and tactile configuration which appears to amplify minimal force and ROM, and provides a valid option for users who have limited strength, limited grasp and limited ROM. When combined with the Active Controls Center Drive System, the Mushroom drive becomes a secure, stable midline drive control that can be removed to facilitate easy, safe transfers which can be easily adjusted to maximize the function of the user.

ACTIVE CONTROLS REHAB SOLUTIONS

The Switch-it MicroPilot is a miniature joystick that requires as little as 10 grams of force with virtually no joystick deflection to activate the chair. When installed on the Active Controls Center Drive System’s ReJoy platform, it becomes an easy to use midline mounted drive control system.Benefits include: stable, robust positioning; zero flex from downward pressure; and easy removal for transfers with a myriad of drive control positioning adjustments. The display mounted at midline facilitates improved sight lines and protection from impact on doors and walls.

Advanced diagnoses often preclude powerchair users from driving with a hand control. The alternative for many potential drivers is either a chin mounted control or an alternate drive control. Many alternate drive controls (head array, sip-n-puff, single switch scanners) are both difficult to use and have a long learning curve. Chin controls are more intuitive in part because they retain proportional drive. The difficulties with most chin control mounts are imprecise positioning, susceptibility to downward force/flex, and difficulty to move for transfers.When installed with the Active Controls Center Drive System, there is no chin control movement as a result of downward force from pressure. In addition, positioning of the drive control is so precise that it can be used as a cue for the caregiver that the user is positioned properly.
