What can AP or AICE classes do for you?
Achievement – AP and AICE provide you the opportunity to earn credit or advanced placement for college and stand out in the admissions process.
Preparation – AP and AICE help you develop better study habits, improve your writing skills, and sharpen your problem-solving abilities/skills vital to your success.
Confidence – AP and AICE help you gain confidence in your ability to tackle academic challenges.
Benefits of Advanced Academics
Receive recognition by more than 90 percent of colleges in the United States and colleges in more than 60 other countries, which grant credit, advanced placement or both on the basis of AP Exam grades.
Have time to move into upper-level courses in your field of interest, pursue a double major, or study abroad.
Design a college experience that suits you and gives you the flexibility to get the most out of your college years.
What’s the cost of taking an AP or AICE course?
AP courses and exams are developed and scored by the College Board, a not-for-profit membership association dedicated to helping students connect to college success and opportunity.
AICE courses and exams are developed and scored by the University of Cambridge.
There is NO fee to take an AP or AICE course.
Exam fees are paid by the school for students that are enrolled in the AP and AICE courses.

Why AICE? • AICE assessments test student skills differently than
other accelerated courses • Broken into several components
• Taken on different days
• May have a different weighting
• May be different formats for example: • Component 1: portfolio project
• Component 2: sit down test
• Component 3: speaking/oral exam (Spanish)
• Pass AICE exams and you can earn the AICE diploma
• Exam pass rates are excellent
•Bright futures scholarship awarded if AICE diploma & 100 community service hours earned
•Each AS exam passed = 1 pt
•If an A level is passed in 1 year = 2 pts

Dual Enrollment &
Seminole Ridge Community High School Guidance Department
What is Dual Enrollment?
The enrollment of students in college classes while still in high
school at the same time earning both college and high school
credit.
Students can get one period off for each dual enrollment class
that he/she takes (one to two classes per semester).
Dual enrollment classes are offered at all PBSC campuses and
at area high schools- Seminole Ridge, Royal Palm, or
Wellington.
Dual enrollment classes are also offered at Florida Atlantic
University (see your school counselor for more information).

Opportunity to graduate high school with college credit
You can take a traditional core academic class or a PSAV (Post-Secondary Adult Vocational) class in the school-to-work programs. The PSAV programs are very limited for dual enrollment (see your school counselor for details).
Cautions with Dual Enrollment
These college classes start your college GPA!!!! You must be committed to getting good grades. No D’s or F’s.
Poor grades may result in denial of acceptance into a college or university and can effect your financial aid opportunities.
You cannot miss class!!!! A conflict with a game or rehearsal or practice is NOT an excuse to miss class. If you participate in high school activities, you may need to make a choice between high school activities and your college class. You must make the commitment to attend class.
Eligibility Requirements
Students must have a cumulative grade point
average (GPA) of 3.0 or above.
Students can enroll in DE courses beginning
Summer B after their 9th grade school year.
Students must have college ready test scores
in all subject areas- ACT, SAT, or PERT.

Prospective dual enrollment students who place below these scores will have to retest. Students will be able to retest 30 days after the initial PERT test date.
Early Admission
Seniors ONLY- You are a full-time PBSC student and do not take classes at Seminole Ridge.
Must have a 3.2 GPA.
Letter of recommendation from high school principal at time of registration is required.
Must take a minimum of 12 credits in both the Fall and Spring terms.
Must maintain OVERALL 2.0 GPA or you will be dismissed from program.
If interested, please inform your school counselor at your Spring Registration appointment.
The Enrollment Process
Review your GPA- must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (3.2 for Early Admission).
Register and take either ACT, SAT, or PERT- must have college ready test scores for each subject area.

First time students for Dual Enrollment /Early Admissions must attend a mandatory PBSC information session or he/she will not be able to register for courses.
The Enrollment Process Once you have met and completed the initial requirements: Make an appointment to meet with your School Counselor. Create a tentative schedule -

use the “shopping cart” feature of Pantherweb to choose their first choice of classes as well as 2 alternate choices (e.g.: ENC 1101, MAC 1105, ARH 100, etc).
Must bring your list of chosen courses when meeting with your school counselor.
Must bring a copy of your test scores (ACT, SAT, or PERT) when meeting with your school counselor.
