The 2015 ACS Precision Ag Catalog has been re-designed for a new time in Agriculture. We realize that Return on Investment is as important now as ever, and we are taking a new approach to help producers through this era of Agriculture. In the following pages, you will find the CVA/ACS top offerings in services and equipment that we see for 2015. Some are recommended to increase profitability, some to increase operational efficiencies, and some to maximize your time and the work you can accomplish in a day. These recommendations are things we are confident that can be incorporated into almost any operation. We will also focus on the support products and services that can further enhance the profitability and efficiencies we are striving for.
In the 1990’s, Central Valley Ag Coop began providing Variable Rate Fertilizer Prescriptions for our Members Owners. Little did we know at that time, that what was beginning would become the gigantic movement in Agriculture called Precision Ag. In 1996 Central
Valley Ag Coop began to sell and service Precision Ag Equipment when one of our Patrons purchased their first Ag Leader Yield Monitor. Through the years, Central Valley Ag continued to provide prescription services, and grew in the Precision Ag Equipment business as GPS Guidance and Lightbars replaced Foam Markers and became prevalent in Agriculture.
In 2004, one of Central Valley Ag Coop’s Precision Ag Employees, Norman Mieth, had a feeling that it was time to brand what CVA did in Precision Ag to set us apart from the competitors that were trying to imitate what we were doing. In 2005, Advanced Cropping Systems by Central Valley Ag was born, with the goal of having a Staff dedicated only to Precision Ag, and striving to bring innovative and profitable solutions to Ag Producers that make this technology valuable. In 2007, ACS became a Trademarked brand of Central Valley Ag, and Advanced Cropping Systems continues to be part of Central Valley Ag Coops Agronomy Division. Since 2005, we have seen many changes
in equipment with Machine Controlled Steering replacing Lightbars, VR drives replacing Ground Drives on Planters, and AutoSwath changing how we plant and apply fertilizer. Since 2005, Advanced Cropping Systems has also expanded its Precision Data Services, from the early days of Grid and Zone Sampling, to now include VR Seeding, VR Irrigation, Moisture Probes, VR Nitrogen and more.
Through all of the changes and innovation, the constant is that Central Valley Ag has maintained the most dedicated and well trained Precision Ag staff in Nebraska. Today, Advanced Cropping Systems provides our producers with 3 full-time Product Support Specialist to install and service all of the products ACS offers, and aid customers with other Precision Ag Hardware they have to provide innovative solutions. The ACS team also includes 8 full-time Regional ACS Specialists who provide the Prescriptions that drive your profitability. • • •

COVERAGE MAPBlack dots indicate Central Valley Ag locations. Green circles indicate MyWay RTK Coverage.
Ag Leader® Technology offers the most complete line of Precision Ag Equipment on the Market, and has since 1992. Ag Leader now offers technology that controls and monitors planters, sprayers, and tile plows. Of course they still have yield monitor systems, and offer some of the most innovative and accurate guidance systems on the market. In 2012, we became an Ag Leader Blue Delta Dealer. Ag Leader describes Blue Delta Dealers as, “the most elite of precision farming experts. They have the most intensely trained employees backed by the best resources in the industry.” ACS has been selling and servicing Ag Leader equipment since 1997, so receiving this designation after 15 years is an attribute to our organization as well as our customers. • • •
Our
PARTNERS
Precision Planting® In 1993, Precision Planting was started by a farm family on the concept that improved seed
placement was a fundamental agronomic principals the dictated crop success and yield. Through the years, Precision Planting has continued to develop ways to make planters more accurate. The underlying goal of every Precision Planting product is “getting every seed in the field to emerge within 12 hours of each other.” Whether it is testing and calibrating seed meters on our test stand, providing options for seed drives and meters, or installing a system to let you remotely raise or lower you row cleaners, Precision Planting provides many products to improve the basic agronomic functions of a planter.• • •
MyWay RTK is the technology that can be used with virtually any precision farming system. It is color blind, and will work with all of your equipment; Ag Leader, John Deere, New Holland, Case, AGCO, Trimble, and TopCon to provide a reliable GPS signal that works almost anywhere. Unlike other RTK systems, you can be up to 25 miles from the base and still get a strong signal providing high accuracy for field work. Most people know that RTK is the most accurate GPS signal in Agriculture, but many don’t realize that it is also the most reliable. With better accuracy, your vehicle stays on its intended path utilizing your vehicles steering. RTK also helps get your seed exactly where you want it, because it can provide the most accurate speed and position for your planter. Making correct sized guess rows helps you get the optimum number of rows in the field, and making your clutches switch at exactly the place you need them to saves inputs and enhances end of season standability and crop health. RTK also minimizes costs when spraying, fertilizing, and doing tillage. RTK is simply the more reliable option. • • •

AquaSystems® by Central Valley Ag and Advanced Cropping Systems
AQUASYSTEMSACS AquaSystems VRIIncreasing water use efficiency through precision Variable Rate Irrigation (VRI) is a primary focus of ACS AquaSystems VRI. If irrigation is not fully optimized right from the beginning, then other factors such as nitrogen use efficiency, often do not reach their full potential. Applying the optimum level of irrigation is more important than ever. As the single most valuable natural resource, applying excess irrigation is an unnecessary cost, leaches nitrogen and can even lower yields. However, applying too little irrigation can reduce yield potential as well.
The goal of ACS AquaSystems VRI is to substantially increase production on irrigated crop fields with soil and/or topography variability, by applying the optimum application depths of water at both the right time and the right place. Based on EC and RTK Elevation Data, irrigation can be increased or decreased based on soil properties and slope. This ensures the correct amount of water throughout the field, while not over or under watering critical areas.• • •
ACS AquaSystems ACS AquaSystems utilizes the same concept as ACS AquaSystems VRI to make standard irrigation scheduling recommendations. A combination of EC and terrain analysis data, along with real-time soil moisture data make the most accurate and timely irrigation scheduling recommendations. The goal of ACS AquaSystems is to make informed, data based irrigation recommendations to ensure the proper amount and timing of irrigation scheduling. • • •
VRI Speed & Zone Control ACS AquaSystems VRI prescriptions, in the form of either VRI Speed Control or VRI Zone Control can be generated for nearly any brand of center pivot. VRI Speed Control can utilize from 60 to 180 sectors, depending on your pivot and controller. VRI Speed Control is already available on most new pivot panels, such as Valley Select 2, Valley Pro2, or Reinke Touch Pro. If your pivot is a little older, Central Valley Ag offers options to convert your pivot to VRI. One of the things our Equipment Technicians specialize in is Pivot Controls. For about $2,000.00 installed we can add a system to a growers pivot to remotely monitor its position, control the end gun, and control speed and direction for VRI. This can be installed on almost any pivot that is electrically driven. After that, you can control your pivot from a computer or mobile device. After the first year, it is less than $300 annually to keep it online. • • •

Monitor the Movement of Salts and Fertilizer Our TriSCAN sensor provides measurements of both soil water, temperature and salinity. The TriSCAN sensor is able to distinguish between soil water content and salt content. This information is then processed to calculate soil volumetric ion content (VIC) separately from the volumetric water content. The TriSCAN sensor is designed for fertilizer and salinity management and works on all soil types. • • •
AquaSystems Probe Advantages Compared to the industry, we offer several key differences. Among these are that AquaSystems has a true sensors on the probe every 4”, a rain bucket for early season rainfall/irrigation collection, industry leading ownership or rental costs over 4 years, and our Dry-Fit installation that offers better accuracy through season. Most important: Data is reported in inches of water instead of a sensor reading. This means you see changes in 0.01”-0.05” increments.• • •

Seed Meter
CALIBRATIONSeed Meter Calibration by Central Valley Ag The Precision Planting Meter Max Ultra system is what we use at Central Valley Ag to test your meters for their ability to singulate seed. There is a lot of things that go into getting that picket fence stand in your field, but one of the first things that we should start with should be the meter its self, and its ability to singulate seed. In 100 side by side trials over three years conducted by an independent seed company, it was proven that on average, annual meter calibrations will add an average of 5.7 bu per acre. You should be getting 98%-99.5% singulation from your meters. An uncalibrated meter typically will come in running from 85% to 97% give or take. When each percentage point of singulation can add up to 1.5 bu/A that leaves lots of room for improvement. If the seed meter is not calibrated to its maximum capability it doesn’t matter what we do the rest of the year, we must fight the effects from poor placement all season.
We can test and service almost any type of seed meter whether it’s a finger or vacuum meter. It doesn’t meter if the meter was made by Precision Planting, or is an OEM meter from John Deere, Case IH, Kinze, White, Great Plains, or Monosem. To have your meters tested, first number the meters from left to right when standing behind the planter. Then remove the meters and bring them to your local Central Valley Ag location in a good solid box or a plastic tote. Fill out the information sheet with your agronomist and he or she will make sure they get delivered for testing. We have one test stand and technician in Randolph all of the time. We also have our mobile unti that visits each region as needed. This way your meters are tested locally, and are never more than a few miles from your farm. Either way, it will be done timely and accurately for you.
When we get your meters, we will test their performance using the seed size you intend to plant and record the performance of the meter based on your populations and planting speeds. Following this testing, we will have a print out of how the meter performed. Then we will determine if and what repairs are needed by evaluating the singulation percentage. If repair is needed, you will receive a quote from CVA of the estimated cost. Upon approval, we will clean, replace any needed parts, and properly set and balance the meter. Following the repairs and successfully passing the performance testing, a report will be printed detailing the performance of each meter. Upon completion, your meters will be returned to your CVA location for you to pick up.• • •

SEED METERSeSet Vac Meter The eSet Vacuum Meter for John Deere vacuum planters simplifies life and adds yield for growers using standard or ProMAX meters. eSets use a floating singulator, which can aggressively nudge double seeds off the cell; but since it floats will not cut into the seed. eSets also have a more rigid disk, and with its raised platform on the disk, it does a better job dropping the seed down the center of the tube. When seeds drop down the middle of the tube, the result is better seed spacing. Then to follow up after you have dropped the seed down the seed tube there is a seed extractor that pops into each one of the cells to make sure there is no fragments left in that cell, and that next time around you don’t get a skip.• • •
Precision Finger Meter The precision meter contains 5 pieces that make it significantly better than OEM finger meters. First is the Precision Finger set, which improves the loading and holding of seed. Then there is the PopulationMax backing plate, which is made out of poly with stainless steel inserts to keep from warping or flexing like the standard stamped steel that almost always has some degree of warp to it. Then you have the adjustable brush that fine tunes to different seed to assists singulation. The adjustable brush contains its own handle so you don’t need any tools to adjust it. The SkipStop cushion is on the back wall of meter where the finger throws the seed to the belt keeping the seed from bouncing back into the seed pool when the finger releases it. Finally, the SureFire belt is cupped and assures seed drops down the center of the seed tube. • • •
vSet Vac Meter The ultimate meter for performance is the vSet vac meter. If you have an EdgeVac meter system, vSets typically show 2%-10% improvement in singulation. If you are wanting to replace finger meters and need to add vacuum to your planter, we can supply a complete hydraulic vacuum system that will provide the vacuum you need for each row. Your system capacity, however, is based on your tractor’s flow rate and pressure. We can help select the right motor and hydraulics for each system. It is also the perfect meter to upgrade your Case planter.• • •

and increase yield with Hydraulic Down Force.
Hydrualic Down Force by
AG LEADER®Hydraulic Down Force Controlling a planter’s down force is a proven way to improve consistency in emergence and increase yield. If a plant comes up 12 hours after its neighbors, it will be several bushels behind in yield. Ag Leaders Hydraulic Down Force system drastically improves on air bag down force systems, because it changes almost instantly as soil conditions and types change. It can take an air bag system 20 seconds or more to inflate enough to create the proper down force, compared many times per second with Hydraulic Down Force. On a 24 row planter that 20 second difference is about ¼ of an acre planted without the proper down force. Ag Leader Hydraulic Down Force can control up to 8 different sections on your planter, and row by row sensing monitors the down pressure needs of each row to allow for consistent planting depths across various topography and soil conditions. The Ag Leader system also offer an Accumulator acts as a cushion to minimize row unit stress and bounce cause by in-field obstacles like rocks and badger holes. Independent research by Becks Hybrids has shown an average of an 11 bpa increase over manual downforce in corn. And now, our Ag leader downforce can connect to your existing John Deere, AGCO, or other brand of display to control downforce on your planter. That means you don’t need another display in the cab to achieve the yield advantage of Ag Leader Hydraulic Downforce. • • •

Row Cleaner Adjuster
CLEANSWEEPCleanSweep Row Cleaner CleanSweep by Precision Planting is not only one of the simplest products you can add to a planter, but perhaps also one of the most needed. Floating Row Cleaners are there to sweep away residue, but not soil. How often do these need to be moved to have them working the way they truly should? Pass to pass? Field to field? End rows tilled but nothing else? But it is such a time consuming job on a big planter that it gets ignored. CleanSweep is a simple system with 3 parts; a dual air cylinder on each row to raise and lower the cleaners, a simple controller in the cab, and an air compressor. If you already have active air force on your planter in most cases we can tie in to that air supply for the clean sweeps. Clean Sweep does not have to be tied into any monitor, it is its own self-contained unit that is nothing more than a box with a valve handle that you turn one way to apply down force on the clean sweeps and the other way to add some lift on your clean sweeps. Clean Sweep can be mounted to pretty much any floating row cleaner. So that includes your Martin row cleaners and the Yetter row cleaners.• • •
CleanSweep Controller
We also can help you out with a solution if you do not have the floating row cleaners and have a fixed unit. We are a dealer for the Yetter row cleaners. Yetter row cleaners have high strength steel arms that hold wheels firmly to move through tough residue. Yetter row cleaners are compatible with almost all planters and row spacing of 20” to 40”. Couple that with the shark tooth wheel that will allow you to move and cut the toughest residue issues.• • •

AGCAM CAMERASCameras are nothing new to Agriculture. But there is a reason that ACS sells the best camera on the market, the AgCam, and not some of the cheaper cameras. AgCam cameras offer a 3 year warranty, twice as long as any other camera. How many other things on the farm come with a 3 year warranty, let alone electronics? The camera itself starts out as a stock piece of 8018 aluminum, and then is machined out, not stamped. And the camera lens is second to none. While all other camera use plastic lenses, AgCam cameras use an anti-static, auto darkening, triple hardened glass lens. That means it doesn’t get covered with dust like other glasses, and when the sun shines on it, it darkens like reading glasses so you don’t see just a white blob on your display. Add to all of this that they incorporate IR LED’s to light things up at night (like a trail camera uses), and you understand why we offer cameras systems from AgCam, and not one of their inferior competitors.• • •

AgFiniti is unique because of its simple design and low cost. The only hardware you need to buy is a simple USB Wi-Fi adapter you plug into the side of your Integra or Versa display. AgFiniti is the first mobile device in Agriculture that doesn’t require you to have a dedicated mobile data plan for. You can use you Smartphone to create a “Hot Spot” to connect it to the internet, or you can use a standalone device like a Verizon Jetpack to connect the AgFiniti and any other mobile device you may have to the internet.
Once you are connected, you can choose from one of the 2 plans that AgFiniti offers; Mobile Data transfer, or Remote View/Support. Mobile data gives you access to your data no matter where you are. More importantly, it gives you the ability to control who has access to it, and what they can do. You can set up a link with your trusted Crop Advisor, so that they can download data as soon as you are done in the field and have reports ready for you sooner.
And what about the security of your data? Ag Leader makes no claims to ownership or the right to use your data. It will only be shared with people that you approve. Read the terms of use agreement and you will see that they either claim that they can use your data, or they don’t mention it at all. Think about it. Meridian
SEED TENDERSCentral Valley Ag has offered Meridian Seed Tenders for years, but in 2014 began offering Fuel Trailers as well. There are many manufactures in the market that offer both products, but CVA offers Meridian for a number of reasons. Meridian offers a premium product, one that is capable of standing up to commercial use. You will never have to worry about Meridian products being built to lightly. They are built for many years of service. Another key difference between Meridian and the Competition is DOT compliance. Not all trailers are equal in their construction, capacities, and features.
Seed Express™ 240RT
Seed Titan™ 2SE Convenience & Speed. Like the Seed Titan 2, the 2SE is designed to accommodate two bulk seed boxes. Patented Meridian Cleated Belt conveyor allows for larger volume seed transfer at reduced speed into individual planter seed boxes or a bulk fill planter. The Seed Titan 2SE works great for handling commodities like corn, beans, rice, cotton, wheat and oats. Great features. Great Quality.
Seed Express™ 240RT Advanced Control. Meridian’s Seed Express 240RT is designed to handle and transport seed in mini-bulk bags, seed boxes or from a bulk seed facility. The 240RT features Meridian’s advanced 5 feature control system with hydraulic drive to adjust discharge height, rotate conveyor 180 degrees to the left or right, open/close the gates, start/stop the conveyor or run conveyor drive system and start/stop engine. Conveniently controlled via wireless remote.
Seed Express™ 400SLD The new Seed Express 400SLD is a ground breaking innovation from Meridian that takes on-farm seed tendering to a new level of versatility. It’s conveyor design allows the user to unload the tender, fill the tender, and also allow the user to use the conveyor independently for all your farm needs. Now you can use the 24 ft. conveyor to unload from gravity wagons or bins into a semi-trailer. Have your planter loaded up and be ready like never before.
Seed Express™ 400SLD
Fuel Trailers Central Valley Ag offers fuel trailers as well. Call your nearest Central Valley Ag location for more information.
