The Adult Partial Hospitalization Program is available Monday
through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:05 p.m.
OUR LOCATION AND DIRECTIONS
The Adult Partial Hospitalization Program is located on the 5th
floor of the John Dempsey Hospital on the campus of the UConn
Health Center.
To reach the main campus of the UConn Health Center, access
I-84 East or West, take Exit 39 and turn right at the first light
(end of ramp) onto Farmington Avenue (Route 4) East. Continue
three more lights (1 mile) and turn right into the main Health
Center entrance.
Free valet parking is available for patients and visitors. Please
follow the valet parking signs and drive to the main hospital
entrance.

GOALS
• Stabilization or restoration
• Interrupt disordered thoughts and behaviors
• Return to independent living
• Obtain skills to manage anxiety and impulsivity
• Acquire skills to manage dysregulation
TREATMENT INCLUDES
• Group therapy
• Psychopharmacology
• Individual therapy
• Discharge planning
• Case management—including coordinated care with a
patient’s outpatient team

The Adult Partial Hospitalization Program is a day treatment
program specifically designed for the diagnosis and treatment
of a mental disorder when there is reasonable expectation for
improvement or when it is necessary to maintain a patient’s
functional level and prevent relapse or full hospitalization.
It is a voluntary program that may shorten the length of stay in
the hospital or serve as a transition from inpatient to outpatient
care for some patients.
The Adult Partial Hospitalization Program is a short-term
treatment program that is group based. A multidisciplinary
team facilitates care in the program.
REQUIREMENTS
• Female or male: 18 years of age or older
• Do not require a hospital level of care
• Require a program structure and support to control emotions
and behaviors
• Acquire skills to manage dysregulation
