GoFarm can assist with Supplemental Food Assistance Program (SNAP) applications!!Within the last 12 months, did you worry about whether your food would run out before you got money to buy more? Or within the last 12 months, did the food you bought just not last and you didn't have enough to buy more?

If you answered yes to either of these questions, then you may qualify for SNAP.

What is SNAP?SNAP helps people buy the food they need for good health. SNAP benefits are not cash. SNAP benefits are provided on an electronic card that is used like an ATM or bank card to buy food at most grocery stores. Some people call it a Qwest card or an EBT card.

Can I get SNAP Benefits? To get SNAP benefits, your income and other resources have to be under certain limits. There are two income limits: Gross and Net. Your total income before taxes or any other subtractions, is called gross income. However, certainsubtractions to your gross income, called deductions, are allowed. These deductions can be for things like housing costs, utility costs or child care payments. The amount left over after these deductions is called net income. The table below gives the income guidelines for households that have 1 or 2 individuals sharing food. The income limits increase for larger households. Adults over 60 have a slightly higher gross income limit and can subtract medical expenses over $35 per month to reach the net monthly limit.

If you think you might qualify, GoFarm can help you apply. Contact Kim at [email protected] or 720-507-7627 to make an appointment to apply. Kim can meet you at Senior Resource Center to go through the application process.

MVP: Sandra Martinez Our February MVP is Sandra Martinez. Sandra has worked in Adult Day for about 6 months. We are so glad she is part of our team. Sandra was nominated by her peers for MVP because she is very pleasant with the participants, giving them one on one attention when needed. Sandra is known for always being willing to help out a teammate, doing a thorough job and having great attention to detail. She has recently taken on learning new tasks in our float position. We appreciate Sandra’s hard work and dedication!

March Activities Éirinn go Brách! In honor of St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th we have a bevy of fun green activities. To avoid the ‘pinch’ we are going to make four leaf clover pins, pinch protectors. Also, our poets of Poets Row will read, and probably laugh…a lot, Edward Lear limericks in four parts. If it’s food you’re looking for well, hold onto your clovers folks, Lucky Charm Treats! Yes, you read that right! Yummy! More laughing will inevitably be heard in our hallways as they read “We are all Irish on St. Patrick’s day!” It’s not easy being green but it sure can be fun.

March is Women’s History Month or, as we like to say, Women’s ‘Her’story Month! We will discuss such notable women as Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Aretha Franklin, just to name a couple. We will also have an open group discussion about how the role of a woman has changed over time. Also, there will be trivia and games scattered throughout the month. Go Girl Power!

In preparation for Superhero Day on Friday, April 28th next month, we will do a dry run on Monday, March 13th for Superhero Day! Wear your favorite superhero garb. Whether it’s a t-shirt, socks, a hat, etc. come and represent the superhero in your life, real or fictional.

Monday March 20th is the first day of spring which means it’s almost time to get our garden looking gorgeous again. As many of you know Joan, our resident Master Gardener, has retired but have no fear, Teresa is here to save the day, or garden as the case may be. Teresa works in our kitchen with Chef John but some days she will be getting her hands dirty and loving every minute of it. We will be passing out a survey sometime in the first half of the month to help us decide what flowers to plant. Keep your eyes peeled for that.

Lastly, Monday March 27th is Crazy Hat Day! Wear your favorite hat to SRC and join our hat parade right before lunch! Last year’s hat parade brought tears to our eyes…tears of laughter! Not only was it fun for our friends here but the staff also had a fantastic time. This year’s Crazy Hat parade could turn out just as epic as last years. Come join the fun!

Happy March Birthdays!

Kristin is excited for new opportunities to serve our clients and feels honored to be a part of ADRS!

Thank you, Pizzeria Locale! Our participants had the opportunity to visit a local pizza restaurant twice in February. We had a great time at Pizzeria Locale, the staff were great, gave us a wonderful presentation and then we each got to make our own pizza! There is nothing better than friends and pizza!

Fun Valentine’s CelebrationWe had a lot of fun celebrating Valentine’s Day with a few special activities.

- Thanks to all the former and current Ms. Senior Colorado, our participants were able to dance and have a lot of fun. They also enjoyed a comedic skit. 9 News and Fox 31

News stopped by to join in the party. You can see the story from the 9 News by visit-ing the following link: http://on9news.tv/2lVNHY9.

- On Valentine’s Day Our participants started their celebration off with a Valentine Exchange. Thanks to the Wheat

- The fun didn’t stop. Our participants danced the day away to some groovy tunes thanks to DR. BLU, who provided our music.

Calling all CamerasAdult Day is asking for your old or unused digital cameras, we would like to start a photography club with our participants and it would be nice to let each person use a camera instead of sharing. You can drop your camera off to Lacey Hayden or the front desk you can also send it in with your loved one. Please give Lacey a call 303.235.6950 or email at [email protected], if you have any questions or if you are sending one in with someone. Please feel free to share any other programing ideas you may have with us. We are always looking to spice things up over here.

This month’s Care Partner Support Group will be on Thursday, March 9 from 10-11:30 am.
